Good morning QMS, thanks for the OT. We have a 3 person
crew here working on the heat pump install and I'm currently hiding/trapped n the office. Furnace is next door off of hall outside this room, attic access is from room on other side, and crawl-space access is on room opposite across the hall. Mucho cmmunication going on. I have a bunch of tasks to do in here, so it's all copacetic, but a tad distracting.

If someone really believes that climate change and environmental degradation are leading the world toward total disaster, the first order of business would be to knock the USA off its high horse to allow for cooperative action to save civilization from itself. If that someone is a zillionaire with multinational holdings, it would make perfect sense to figure out how to bring an end to the American Empire, and then do it.
So my unproven suspicion is that Megabuck Power is in the process of slipping a poison pill to the American body politic. The politicians are always for sale and always ready to fuck over their constituents. So we see the absurd Tom and Jerry cartoon of Bidenites versus Trumpites -- bitterly engaged in criminal litigation against each other while jointly bankrupting the nation with absurd military adventures all around the globe against a backdrop of creeping totalitarianism.
It's not that the Dems are trying to lose to the Republicans, That is a likely bi-product of the effort to cut Uncle Sam down to size.

A new puppet show is exactly what I expect. Bill Gates may or may not be involved in the specific scam that I suspect, but his bankrollling of multinational non-governmental agencies with real world "influence" provides the model for how it would work for Mister Gotrocks and his billionaire co-conspirators to create a new world order. Induce a cave-in of the existing governments of the USA and its poodle allies with suicidal economic "policies", then in the ensuing political chaos a Committee to Save Humanity consisting of a dozen or more Forbes List Fat Cats puts itself in charge of the Global Constitutional Convention and the rest is history to be written.
I really hope I am wrong because I don't want a self-appointed elite to save the world to implement its own ideas about how the world should be run. Smells bad to me.

While Kunstler rightly laments
the multitudes of military aged healthy men flooding across the border, I'm reminded of a remark made by Iowa pol Steve King who said;
"We have people that are mules, that are drug mules, that are hauling drugs across the border and you can tell by their physical characteristics what they’ve been doing for months."
He characterized them as " Cantaloupe calves".
If they can carry 100 lbs backpacks of pot, they could certainly carry ricin or sarin wmd.
And with the chaos at the regular border crossings, less attention is spent at remote locations, making penetration more dangerous and likely.
Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.
