“Love is to will the good of the other.” ~St. Thomas Aquinas

Welcome to November. We ain't all saints and we ain't all sinners. Some are better, some worse than
others. Have known a few living saints in this lifetime: MLK, Gandhi, Carlin, maybe even Robin
Williams in a stretch. But they weren't Catholic. Neither was Jesus for that matter. Oh, well.

On today's date in 1884, representatives from 25 nations met at the International Meridian Conference in Washington, D.C., to agree upon "a meridian to be employed as a common zero of longitude and standard of time reckoning throughout the world."

The treaty adopted at the conference also set the International Date Line at 180° longitude in the Pacific Ocean. There are 24 meridians in total, one every 15°, and there is an hour time difference between each one. Each meridian is one hour earlier than the one to the east of it. However, not all countries adhere to the hour change every 15°. For example, five meridians cross China's terrain, but the whole country is on one time zone.

Those clever Chinese.

Perhaps not so much in other corners of the world.
Benji the butcher and his fellow murderers are still at it.
Exlenski is having a sad. But CIA and MIC are having a
bang-up good time. What fools they are.

Hope there is a glimmer of good in your space!

is pay day, a welcome event. Though one thinks of Samhain in terms of yesterday evening and night, it carries through to today, so, happy Samhain. Payday brings forth financial fiddling and accounting, Samhain simply generates clean up and pumpkin disposal.

It's the first day of feederwatch, but we will set our count days to Fri-Sat, so nothing to do today except ready the checksheets. A guy will show up to repair the windshield in the car this afternoon, so all must be readied for his arrival, truck parked in street, car centered in driveway with ample space on each side, and all like that.

One thing I'm not thinking about is Saints because I have an insufficient connection to Nawlins to root for their team.

now it is just x-ferring funds to pay the bills.
Some of the previous joys have lost their luster.

What is the state of the American mind?
From what I can gather, it is not healthy.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck with
the window shield. Fazers on stun Scotty.

A cool one here. Close to freezing this morning...due again tomorrow morning before we warm again. It's November after all. Had to cover the lettuce last night. We'll let it be till tomorrow when we warm up a bit.

Only a few chores on the burner for today. Already made some pepper sauce this morning. I've got one more batch of gravel to spread back at the ford, but that's about all I've got on the agenda.

I hope every one is doing well. Thanks for the OT and have a good one!

predicting 31 degrees tonight. Fired up the boiler yesterday
so the house is not so rude in the AM. Keep the T-stats at
60, which is just enough heat, along with the wood stove,
to make this space livable.

Thanks for checking in.

on why the Roman Catholic Church is uncomfortable about calling Constantine a Saint. Seems he used Christianity as a clarion call for war. Jesus was anti-war, remember? Jesus only inspires things like the Inquisition.
Christianity does so many twists, turns, and flips, it should be known as the religion of gymnastics.
It is hump day. A strange one. Ya see, we have colonias near here, and despite the laughable claim of Tx. Dept. of Public Safety that cartels are not present and not a problem, there was a big bust of a cock fighting ring. All arrestees were Hispanic. All vehicles seized were owned by Hispanics. I have turned down 3 cases involving either the arrested defendant trying to hire me for their criminal case, or a person who had their vehicle seized wanting to get it back. The less involved I am with the cartel, the better.
It was cold for 2 days, and will warm up tomorrow. Just about the time I get used to it being cold, it is time to start sweating again.
Love the art today, Q.
Thanks for the OT, friend!

Being raised Catholic, I know a little about saints. Many saints have their own feast day. All the rest are celebrated on All Saints Day. Occupations and activities also have their own saints. Saint Joseph is the patron saint of carpenters, Saint Elmo the patron saint of sailors, Saint Christopher the patron saint of travelers. Catholic countries also have their own saints. St. Rose of Lima is the patron saint of Peru.

As far as I know the U.S does not have a patron saint. It's not a Catholic Country nor is it a Christian country. I have had that argument with many a Baptist who insist that it is. If it did it would fittingly have to be St. Jude, the saint of lost causes. He delivers hope to the hopeless. Which pretty much fits.

She loved to sit in the snow
we called her Amy pie ducky poo
tried to have her bred, but she would have
nothing to do with the stud

one time, she wandered out into the road
and totaled a VW beetle
thereafter, she was called BD
which was short for brain damaged

still happy and drooling, but not quite the same
