South Carolina Prenatal Equal Protection Act of 2023
South Carolina GOP lawmakers propose death penalty for women who have abortions
In case anyone reading this post had any doubts about the existence of Republican logic, well, here it is, full in the flesh. And in case you thought it was just South Carolina, it's a number of other states as well. While Joe Biden prepares for war with Russia and China, while the government ignores the First Amendment, and while the economy collapses, the Republicans look for people here in the US to kill. Maybe they'll bring back the Bloody Code. Oh and as for "pro-life":
I'm still expecting fetal personhood to be on the Supreme Court's forthcoming agenda. They probably won't try to say "well, some states call the fetus a person and others don't, so fetuses are people if they live in some states."
Comments
That's a pity.
South Carolina is an attractive state, and the food is pretty good. But it is now another state that I'll never voluntarily set foot in again.
The interesting things is that the dems will no doubt rally right around this cause in the name of wokeness, somehow...
Twice bitten, permanently shy.
Well, I guess if corporations are people
with rights to free speech, etc.
then fetuses must also carry the right to vote
personhood has become a very vague concept
It will be interesting
I have toured the country, focused on the Revolutionary War and Civil War, and the 100 Years War out west. Did a thorough trip of S. Carolina. About 4 years ago, a world traveler pal admitted she had only seen/visited a handful of states. We decided to spend 4 days in SC.
She is a blue no matter who D. and was appalled at the local guides cheering the fight for States Rights, which is the way to protect the slave economy, and the intense conservatism of the people we met.
I saw everything there I wanted to see. Twice.
That state will never see a cent from me again.
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
Maybe there's hope
When the economy collapses, perhaps these awful politicians will have to address serious issues in their state legislature. It takes time and effort to torment and abuse women and they likely will be preoccupied with homeless and/or hungry citizens.
