Progress comes to Baltimore

Five of the Six Baltimore Police Officers Charged in Death of Freddie Gray in Custody

Five officers who have been charged in the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray are now in custody, according to an announcement from Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, local media outlet WJZ is reporting.

The development comes after the Baltimore State's Attorney's office announced on Friday morning that Gray's death following his arrest by city police has been deemed a homicide, and that it had issued warrants for the arrest of six officers on various charges related to the murder.

State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby announced the decision at a news conference held Friday morning, declaring that police had no probable cause to justify Gray's arrest and that the officers involved were negligent in his death.

"We have probable cause to file criminal charges," she said, which include second-degree murder, manslaughter, assault in the second degree, misconduct in office, and false imprisonment.

…with murder.

How long did it take Freddy to die with the police looking on? Did they prop him up for a mug shot? Give him a nice deep cavity search?

it's pretty sad, but when you consider how many other brutal police have not even been charged after terrible murders, it looks like progress.

say hitting the streets doesn't work. Although coward that I am I bogged on the Portland May Day march which was this year billed as Rise Up In Solidarity . I feel bad that I did what they want and was intimidated enough by the pigs to stay home. I'm ashamed of myself tonight. However I just checked out on the Boreagion Live site that pepper spray was liberally applied to those protestors who did not follow the approved route. The Baltimore balck lives matter part of the march was not approved and was harassed for heading for the bridges.

Anyway I'm bummed and yet seem unwilling to throw myself into this...

"We went down to the demonstration
To get your fair share of abuse
Singing, "We're gonna vent our frustration
If we don't we're gonna blow a fifty-amp fus" .... the rolling stones

On the other hand if people give in to fear of the lawless police state we live in and do not turn out what then? It's hard everywhere as really all public resistance is now criminal. It's met with major state violence. Seems to be working unless you have nothing to lose by being black, poor or have a vested interest in maintaing the status quo. From Bernie to Hillary the system is all you got so do not fight it. Push it from veil pens and designated routes.
It is a jungle and those who can avoid it by luck or keeping their head down or outright denying what is going down and not showing up are part of the problem. That include's me. Will we ordinary people just keep going to get along with what looks to be a undeniable global historical clamp down on humans and the planet.

Welcome to the clampdown

There is no 'parliamentary' or democratic way, even with Bernie in the kabuki show (how sick) to 'move it left it's gotten to a point where people need to take it to the streets and testify...

At least you talked about Baltimore. thanks Joe. I really can't get into either American politics or the geopolitical fuckatude were instigating, that passes for reality these days. I simply want it to be brought down. Apparently two spines where broken by American 'forces' both the designated Isis's leader Ali Baghdadi and Freddie Grey. What a sick place we have live in.
