Biden to end covid "emergency" status

Biden to end COVID-19 emergency declarations on May 11
Story by Maureen Groppe, USA TODAY • 5h ago

WASHINGTON – The Biden administration is winding down the treatment of COVID-19 as an emergency, restructuring how the federal government will respond to the pandemic that is entering its fourth year.

The administration plans to end both the national emergency and public health emergency on May 11.

The official numbers of cases and fatalities in the USA are declining from a slight uptick that took place in December and as of January 30, reported fatalities are at the lowest level since the "emergency" was declared, and reported cases -- whatever that means -- are a bit higher than the previous lowest level during the lull that occurred in the summer of 2021. With the low level of compliance with the booster regimen and the undeniable reality of the utter failure of "vaccine" to stop the pandemic, there is very little for the government to do now.

Like all previous epidemics, this wave of illness will run its course eventually, quite possibly as of now.

For all the hot air expended over the last three years, the one thing I have NOT heard is anybody expressing satisfaction at a job well done. There has been a ton of blame laying, especially in the early days when a common meme was to accuse somebody of "killing" people by expressing incorrect notions about the various rules and advisories put forth to "save lives." That boot is now on the other foot, as accounts of vaccine injuries and fatalities are circulating outside the mainstream media. The establishment response to this growing tendency conspicuously does not include any upbeat accounts of how well the mandated strategy has worked to end the pandemic. Biden is not crowing about what a good job he has done by saving the nation from the ignorant craziness of Trump. The official numbers put more fatalities on Biden's watch than on Trump's. As of the end of January 2021, the official account of covid fatalities stood at 477,000; since then, the grizzly statistic has grown to 1,131,000.

In my personal opinion, all these figures are inflated or meaningless. I was a "case" when I tested positive in July of last year while I was in a hospital. The only way I could have caught the infection would have been by a total failure of the mask protocol strictly enforced at the hospital, since I was screened on my entry and tested negative. This is of course anecdotal and proves nothing, but I never had any symptom whatsover and the experience convinced me that my skepticism about certitude was well founded. After all is said and done, the official record is nothing for Biden, or any of the enthusiastic exponents of The Science to brag about. It speaks volumes that they do not.

So now we move to the Well-let's-move-on phase of this "crisis" that is passing into history.

I never knew that the term "Never Again" only pertained to
those born Jewish

"Antisemite used to be someone who didn't like Jews
now it's someone who Jews don't like"

Heard from Margaret Kimberley

@ggersh So here are the next paragraphs from the cited USA Today article:

The administration plans to end both the national emergency and the public health emergency on May 11. The announcement came in a message to Congress about measures House Republicans are considering this week to end those emergency declarations immediately.

The administration wants to wait until May to end the emergencies because Republicans' "abrupt end" would create "wide-ranging chaos and uncertainty throughout the health care system," the White House said.

The rationale is bureaucratic rather than medical, and it has some plausibillity in its concern for the various parties who have official emergency responsibilities. In context, it also looks like an old fashioned political ploy to take a soapbox issue away from the Republicans. As of now the only distinction is on when rather than whether to get back to "normal." Since the old "normal" is as dead as fried chicken, the irrelevance of politics remains unsullied by significance.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

pull out of Afghanistan - a catastrophe
enrich the corrupt clown in Ukraine - we go hungry
fix the national health care system - just say it ain't
stop police brutality - cops on steroids bashing
international relations - crush EU economically
strengthen working relationships - sanctions
support the Belt Road Initiative - threaten China
Monroe Doctrine - fund coups

@QMS by way of the movie Being There.

The President is hired by the board of Directors who have shorted the stock of America, Inc.

Rather than trust an actual politician to fuck things up on purpose, they pick a senile old man who was always a fuckup even before he got real old. A laff riot!

@QMS .

Short selling occurs when an investor borrows a security and sells it on the open market, planning to buy it back later for less money.
Short sellers bet on, and profit from, a drop in a security’s price. This can be contrasted with long investors who want the price to go up.
Short selling has a high risk/reward ratio: It can offer big profits, but losses can mount quickly and infinitely due to margin calls.

not insider trading. In a couple of previous bubbles anybody watching critically would see a pattern of 1)announce IPO at x, favored buyers and insiders get in at the start for x+1% through x+10%, price then rapidly climbs to x+50% through 2x, and then crashes to about 0.75%, I wanted soooo bad to have enough of an ante to buy in, because if you simply shorted every damn IPO you'd have made a fortune. People were buying anything, largely stuff with no real assets or business plan.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

@enhydra lutris Rule Number One for the house is you have to let the players win some of the time. Rule Number Two is to watch out for players who are always lucky. I believe you when you say you had an insight into selling short. But nothing is going to convince me stock markets are anything but a casino.

I answered the query about shorting with a cut and paste from google, mainly because I was not sure about the actual steps involved with the "short" play. My first thought was to say it was like the "Don't Pass" line in craps.

Seriously, I wish you good luck in any future plays you try.

also that it's full of folks who make a living out of pushing trades, whether good or bad, mis and dis information, propaganda, marketing, scams and a shitload of people who indulge in herd behavior. It's that herd behavior among the not particularly well informec that can create situations where, if one has the wherewithall, one can make some bux. I generally never have the wherewithal - gambler's first rule, don't bet more than you can comfortably afford to lose. For me, these days, that's nada.
