Album of the Week - 12-3-22
Afternoon folks!
There's a pile of blues for you guys this week. Chicago guitarist Son Seals has a live album, harmonica player Big Walter Horton has a studio album, there's an Otis Redding album in glorious original mono and New Orleans singer Johnny Adams weighs in with an album of Percy Mayfield tunes. Guitarist David Lindley has an album of cool blues-rock and reggae inflected tunes, Captain Beefheart's album delivers the weirdness and we finish up with Buffalo Springfield's (Neil Young, Steven Stills and Richie Furay) debut album (also in glorious mono).
I will be adding additional cuts to the Big Walter Horton album and Otis Redding's album on Saturday night sometime.
Have a great weekend and enjoy!
Here 'tis:
Walter Horton - Can't Keep Lovin You
Johnny Adams - Walking On A Tightrope

Thanks Joe,
So many amazing tunes from so many different genres. And...how many garage bands attempted various Son Seals tunes? "She's Fine" in particular. So many memories stirred.
evening peachcreek...
heh, i'm glad that my record collection is now reaching a lot more people and spreading some happiness.
have a good one!
I've been wandering over here since Markos
did us a favor and threw us outta of TOP. Bleh! I love the weekly photo diary, and the music......ah man, killer!!! Finding out you were a former DJ just solidified my respect for your tune knowledge, js. My home blog is TPW; and we might be small, but we've got a group of educated music freaks there, too. Absolutely love music...period!!! I used to be a regular when NCTim posted on here. I sure hope he is okay. He was devastated when his life mate passed from ALS as I recall. Rec'd!!

great sounds JS!
Hey Joe, Great sheet mon! Son Seals was awesome, to me a perfect player of that Chicago style, which I am a sucker for. That Safe as Milk is great, I lived in a house with it for a few years. Was quite under the radar in general though. Springfield was revered in socal circles, we all play For What It's Worth.
Thanks for the great soundscapes!
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
