Hey! Happy Thanksgiving!
From https://www.makeuseof.com/canva-how-to-create-thanksgiving-dinner-menu/
And boy, am I thankful this site is back up, thankful to all the work JtC does. JtC rocks! Other than that, I've not got much to say this Thanksgiving Thursday. Everyone, have a great holiday, enjoy all the food, if that's your thing, and have a great post turkey eating coma nap!
So, thanks for looking at another turkey dinner! , and here's the open thread - and remember, everything is interesting if you dive deep enough, so tell us about where you're diving!

Once again, Happy T-Day to everyone!
We are having a very quiet Thanksgiving this year, only me and my husband and no big meal. Might have roast chicken and Greek potatoes, or enchilada soup, or both at different times!
A confession: I don't like turkey. Never have, since I was a child. It's the taste, something about it hits me wrong. I love everything else at a traditional t-day dinner, just not the turkey!
Hopefully your holiday traveling, if any, was quiet and boring and over quickly! And your T-Day goes great!
Let us know what's on your mind in the open thread! And, boy, am I glad the site is back up and we are all back together on it!

I can't stand turkey.
I hope you and the kids are all doing great!

Full Pardon it is!
The kids are doing good. The old dog had a good day, it was sunny and warmish and restful. Husband and I had roast beef chili/beef enchilada soup (chili made with shredded roast beef rather than mince).
Hope you and your beloved had a great day, and are having a great early weekend!
And yes, let's pardon the turkeys!

Happy gobble day
Somewhat crisp here today. Burning some logs in the wood stove to chase the chill.
We are having a toned down feast as well. Yesterday made up a dirty rice dressing,
sans turkey. Also doing chicken on the grill, roasted squash and
brussel sprouts, with a chicken gravy on the side (my next task).
Enjoy the quiet.
And thanks for the OT!

That sounds like a great meal!
Makes me hungry reading about it!
We've been doing fires in the woodstove almost every day/evening to keep the house warmish. We don't need it very hot, so the fire only runs a few hours, but it does its job!
I hope you kept warm during the crisp day!

Good morning!
It is wonderful to be able to wish one and all a Happy Thanksgiving! Instead of the traditional meal, our family tradition is to prepare our favorite meal, which is a variety of veggies that pair well with a rib eye.
Like seemingly everyone else, I have perfected a recipe for dressing that is chicken broth based, cornbread, green chilies, and has a distinct southwestern flavor. It takes 4 hours to make.
I never liked turkey. It tastes like bloody feathers. No, I haven't actually tasted bloody feathers, but I have a vivid imagination.
We will drive through a refuge for birds. See a beach and area we haven't explored.
We will dodge intermittent rains that are forecast for the remainder of our vacation. We don't give a shit. We will not melt if we get wet.
Thanks, Sima!

Leave it to you to be brave enough to say it...
turkey tastes like bloody feathers, indeed. I might be stealing that. To me it tastes... I dunno, that's a great explanation of it. It tastes like chicken dragged through manure or something.
I would love that drive through the bird refuge. I hope it was great! Have a great long weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Howdy from the island that isn’t
Last year I opened the door and saw 3 buffalo having dinner just a few yards from the trailer. No such luck this morning but they are just up the hill from us. Very sunny but hazy. Utah is having its famous inversion which makes our air the worst in the country.
Yesterday I watched 2 buffalo walking on the beach and I was left to ponder why they were. I finally got my answer a bit later. It was so they could meet up with other buffalo further down and have a buffalo meeting.
Sam says hey. We are having steaks for dinner. I’m winterized so I try not to use many pots and pans.
Very thankful that our site is back up. Btw Q is collecting emails so we can stay connected if this happens again. I had a few people contact me so I was able to keep them updated from my inside source. It was nice to hear that other sites missed us being down.
Hey you lurkers…. stop in and say hi once in awhile.
Have a happy one

Buffalo steaks?
Yumm. Last time out west we experimented with elk, buffalo, deer and mountain trout.
Not likely to find that around the east coast (except for venison). Just finished brunch,
the chicken gravy is next.
Enjoy your time on the island. On the offline contact list, had 3 more sign in. Up to
almost 40 now!

Just cow steaks
I did have buffalo once as well as antelope, duck, goose once for thanksgiving that I was there for the hunt. My favorite is
partridge. PHEASANT. I dated a big time hunter once until I woke up and remembered I was against it. In my mind it’s one thing but in my heart it’s another. I gave up fishing because I couldn’t stand the thought of the family wondering why he wasn’t home for dinner. I understand the concept, but….I’ll stop in soon and give you my info. Have a happy one.
I don’t know if we even have partridges here or what they look like. But I’d eat pheasant over turkey any day.

I totally understand
about that take on hunting (and fishing). I was vegetarian for a while, but my husband is not, and he cooks good food and so there it is. I can do beef, chicken and pork (barely), and that's it. I feel like a wimp a lot of the time... heh.

Hello to you and Sam!
Steaks for dinner sound great!
Inversion weather sucks. It happens here, once in a while and it just sucks. I'm sorry you are having it. However, the Buffalo sound really cool, in a sort of long distance, watch carefully, way.
I agree, lurkers (like I used to be and often still am) need to stop in and say hi. Have a great long weekend and good time with Sam and the buffalo, and thanks for stopping by!

turkeys terrorize Massachusetts town
Oh noes! The downtrodden are fighting back!
Terrorist turkeys! Where is DHS when you need them?
Residents of Woburn near Boston subjected to attacks and intimidation by group of wild turkeys – and especially Kevin - the ringleader.
The population of wild turkeys has ballooned in Massachusetts in recent years.
.. the birds have turned the tables, ganging up to “terrorize” residents with pecks, kicks and loud clucking.

Used to have a rooster that would terrorize people like that!
He went after anyone visiting the farm. Was pretty annoying at times!
Thing is, he never went after me. We finally figured out it was because my dog is always with me, and she would just give a low growl, and the roo' would back off and sort of flap away in disgust!

Loved the terrorist turkey story!
We used to go to Zion National Park every Thanksgiving and camp for about a week. Would ride our bicycles up the road to the Zion Lodge enjoying the scenery along the way. There were always a group of about 10-15 beautiful wild turkeys wandering in one of the picnic areas near the lodge.
In the town in Texas where I live part-time there used to be very aggressive geese that would try to run you off the hiking trail either when walking or biking. Finally someone helped them move on.
My thanksgiving is also turkey-less. Not a real fan of turkey except ground turkey so am having a delicious sweet potato with spinach mushroom topping and fresh black-eyed peas and cornbread along with salad. Went out for walk earlier because may snow later today. Hope all have a good holiday!
Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.
This ain't no dress rehearsal!
your menu sounds delicious
working on the gravy now - chicken stock, sage, thyme, chives, sautéed mushrooms, garlic
and corn starch to body it up. Hope your flurries are pretty!

Gonna be some great gravey

Dammit, woman!

That also sounds like a great T-Day dinner!
Geese can be really territorial. We have them during the winter on the little 'lake' that forms in the lower pasture. If you walk out towards that lake at the wrong time of year, they will dive bomb you.
That sounds like those were some great bicycle rides in Zion. My Dad and I used to do the same in the Olympic National Park. Was pretty fun, but a lot of huffing and puffing going up, and a lot of squealing bike brakes coming down!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope your holiday weekend is good, really good!
