Burj Al Babas, a Massive Abandoned Town of Disney-esque Castles in Turkey
Burj Al Babas consists of more than 700 multi-story castles, half of which were already sold by 2019. After a series of unfortunate world events, Turkey’s economy dried up, leaving the sweeping village’s fate uncertain.
or does anybody else see that that whole development is built in a dry wash floodplain?
The first flash flood after a big-ass thunderstorm further up that valley is likely to be very, shall we say, educational. Doesn't matter if it hasn't rained there recently: I suspect that that pretty little ol' valley didn't get there all by itself, and climate change pretty much guarantees that weather chaos (and the resulting 500-year exceptional storms) are going to get more common and *worse*....
I've been looking for something like that my entire life.
Sustainable? I don't know. It should be completely reforested to stabilize the environment and micro-biome. I'm guessing there are underground utilities in already in place. I envision only one castle made livable, and all the rest serving as an evocative backdrop. I see them subtley lit at night. If you use LEDs, one windmill or a modest solar array could power the whole thing.
The idea of turning Burj Al Babas into a single residence seems extravagant. Outrageous. But as conceptual art, it speaks of all the visions of utopian societies that could not be manifested and will ever come to pass for a species whose consciousness does not evolve, collectively. Leaky cable buried in the roads could broadcast the Blues for visitors driving through the exhibition.
The Disneyesque meme is a fitting touch. Drops mic....

IMAGINE if you woke up the day after a US Presidential Election and headlines around the the world blared, "The Majority of Americans Refused to Vote in US Presidential Election! What Does this Mean?"
I don't know what the plan was once these "developers" concentrated these rich shits in McCastles, but I like the idea of specifically taking them out of society and collecting them away from the rest of us.
It might be a pretty simple yet accurate test. If you have the money to invest in this really batshit awful idea...*and* you can't see that this narcissistic *thing* is the worst idea ever? Yeah, you should lose all of your money, and you should go live-->over there.
Some might have other explanations for this fiasco of a development, but, it seems to me that this is perhaps just an artistic grift using a little social natural selection...and Damnit! it almost worked. s/ end
What a fucking waste of resources. What could have been built with the materials plus person-hours that went into this monstrosity? Some People are fuckin' weird.

The more I think on this, it makes me a bit sad that the plan...
