American Embargo's on Japan's Oil had strangled Japan. Saddam had WMD. etc. Still trying to figure out what Native Americans did to justify that genocide. Maybe greed was enough without modern communications.

WASHINGTON/DUBAI, Sept 2 (Reuters) - The United States compelled Iran for a second time this week to release U.S. military sail drones that it tried to seize at sea, U.S. officials said on Friday.

Iran has been building up its naval presence in the Red Sea, near the coast of Yemen where Tehran backs the Houthi movement.

The incident there, after an earlier one in the Gulf, was the latest reminder of U.S.-Iran military tensions, even as both countries pursue nuclear talks. read more They follow exchanges of fire last week between U.S. troops and Iran-backed groups in Syria.

Iran state television earlier on Friday acknowledged the Iranian Navy released two U.S. maritime drones in the Red Sea but accused the American unmanned vessels of jeopardizing maritime safety, without providing evidence.

"The (Iranian navy) frigate Jamaran seized the two vessels on Thursday to prevent any possible accident after issuing warnings to the U.S. fleet. After international shipping lanes were secured, the two vessels were released in a safe area," the TV said.

@janis b very cool stuff Janis! Scat is neat stuff, I really like it.

I saw Chick Corea and Return to Forever (with Al DiMeola) once about '75. They were amazing.

There are fish called Scat. Short for its genus Scatophagus. Yes, as in offal eater. They are a really neat small group (3 species) of fish. Smart with great personalities.

@dystopian they are impressive fish. I remember the manager of shop I worked at had a 180 I think in a 2nd story apt with Scats. Pretty cool, except for the weight above unsuspecting tenants.

Just look at the $$$ amounts

The Biden administration is requesting that Congress authorize $11.7 billion in additional security and economic assistance for Ukraine and $2 billion to help shore up domestic energy supplies to offset impacts of the war on the global energy market.

“We have rallied the world to support the people of Ukraine to defend their democracy and we simply cannot allow that support to Ukraine to run dry,” an administration official told reporters when previewing the request on Friday.

The White House says that the funds are needed to sustain the pace of aid to Ukraine for the first three months of fiscal 2023, which begins at the start of October. The administration official said roughly three-fourths of the funds Congress has already approved for Ukraine have been spent or obligated.
