Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says Canada still plans to return five turbines used in a Russian natural gas pipeline — despite the fact that the company operating the pipeline refused to accept one turbine that has been returned to Germany already.

In July, the government granted an exemption to ship six turbines undergoing maintenance in Montreal back to Germany to be subsequently handed over to the Russian state-owned firm Gazprom, which operates the Nord Stream 1 pipeline that provides Germany and other European countries with natural gas.

One turbine has been returned to Germany but Gazprom has refused to accept it, citing technical issues and claiming it wants further documentation showing that the equipment is not subject to Western sanctions.

In recent months, Russia also has cut the gas flow through Nord Stream 1 to 20 per cent of capacity and recently announced it would shut down the line entirely for three days at the end of the month, citing the need for unscheduled maintenance.

When China makes a loan and it doesn't get paid back, which happened throughout Africa during the pandemic, they write the loan off. And then they spend more money. Their projects always get completed and the country they help can see the benefits.

China is using a slightly different economic model, however — one that the US could adopt with little fuss. The Chinese government does not privatize the country's resources (or the innovations or patents or expertise) that have emerged from the Chinese People working together, over time. Instead of privatizing these national treasures, and handing ownership to "favorite"crony corporations to exploit, the Chinese Government will operate the business itself, for a certain period of time. (China's National Oil Company is a good example, which is also the largest employer in China. China's national railroad is another example.)

The Chinese government will then use the profits from these companies to make large-scale improvements to the nation and modernize its infrastructure. China can also invest the revenues to help other countries with their own development — all while paying good wages to the employees and keeping the costs of oil and transportation low for the Chinese people. In this way, the Chinese Government does not have to lay a heavy tax burden on the people in order to fund large scale national projects for the betterment of all. By contrast, in the US, the favored corporations not only keep the privatized profits for themselves, but they rarely pay taxes on those profits Thus, the American people get steadily poorer while the nation's increased wealth is hoarded at the top.

This economic system is the reason the US wants to go to war with China — and destroy its economy and wipe out its progress.

was to consider Steyn unreliable because he and his guest seem to be engaging in a vendetta while the "Scottish NHS figures" are unconfirmed, but then I remembered the violently defensive reaction Australia and New Zealand have and/or are using in response to the same observations. The only unconfirmed part is the temporal correlation.
And remember, the rest of the world is reporting 16% excess deaths, the US is reporting 40% (though our figures refer to a specific age range)

We've discussed a few times the excess deaths around the world. Sure is terrible to see these fit young folks dying as part of those deaths. Will the MSM ever address this issue? I doubt it.
