That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

With plans to create realistic synthetic embryos, grown in jars, Renewal Bio is on a journey to the horizon of science and ethics.

This startup wants to copy you into an embryo for organ harvesting

@JtC

is any meaningful horizon between science and ethics anymore. I suspect that they are non-intersecting disciplines and concept sets. Ethics, today, is nothing more than an obscure and obsolete ancient branch of philosophy.

@JtC ...they're ripping off movies bad enough to have been on Mystery Science Theatre 3000 - AND to have already been ripped off by bigger, lazier studios: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parts%3A_The_Clonus_Horror#Lawsuit

When compared with natural mouse embryos, the synthetic embryos were 95% the same in terms of their internal structure and the genetic profiles of the cells.

Not bad for a first try, but quite a way to go for cloning or synthetic organs. Sparing animals from vivisection or other experiments would be grand, but I find implication for human tissue farming and/or organ harvesting rather terrifying.

@ovals49 is far enough apart for food. Soylent green doesn't have to be people. It can just be "people like".

It was Musk who talks about a physical connection between the brain and the internet. In the 1980s science fiction ("cyberpunk") writers called it "jacking". Gates has been accused of hiding nanotech in vaccines to control human behavior. This is a Pentagon idea from the 1970s.
