Games people play are sometimes better on a board. Would love to see a chess match between Biden and Putin. Playing by the same rules could be enlightening. Or not.
Perhaps, if the outcome determines the fate of uni/multi polar world geopolitics, it may be interesting to watch.

Back in my college days, I used to play a fair amount of chess, but now play more music and fewer games.

I also played backgammon in those days, but haven't played in years.

Things change. Hope all is well.

Came across this and thought of you...

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I'm playing with water this morning as it is my day to use the sprinkler. We have water restrictions here due to drought and so today is my day to water the Turks cap stand that is under the oaks. The flowers are struggling and have no blooms but they are tough and will be O.K. I think.
I have another stand of them in the flower garden (they sort of took over that garden all on their own) and they are in full bloom as the get watered every day. The humming birds seem to appreciate them.

I have been reading a book called What Bees Want: Beekeeping as Nature Intended By
Susan Knilans & Jacqueline Freeman.
The book is about more than bees, it is about our interconnections and how we all depend on a healthy environment. I recommend it, I found it fascinating. It had many interesting links about species protection, here is one: https://www.freelivingbees.com

In that link there is a Mary Oliver poem that I like:
https://www.freelivingbees.com/post/when-i-am-among-the-trees
That may help carry me through the day.

Have a good one, and thanks for all your many OT's QMS.

Glad to hear you are keeping the hummers happy. We have only recently started to see
their return. The bees are busy sipping the fields of clover around the house. Mama nature
has been somewhat generous with sharing her water from heaven so far.

Enjoy playing with your sprinklers!

@QMS , in the sprinkler in the summer. Cute picture, brings back memories.
The birds seem to enjoy the sprinkler as well. There is a particular mama cardinal who is the first to take a shower as soon as I turn on the water. Others follow suit and soon there is a whole menagerie of birds. Great fun.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I will be thinking about it tomorrow, when I'm out amongst the tree, trimming back blackberry vines.

@Sima . Mary Oliver's poems can astonish, an example of how words can be amazing. Enjoy your time amongst the trees and blackberries today. Watch those blackberry bushes, they like to bite.

since February 24, UN says.

Now why would Ukrainians be fleeing their country into the realm of the
purported 'enemy'. Kinda messes up the western narrative.

Looks like the western/NATO block has created another refugee crisis.

Trouble continues to rain down on Kazakhstan’s oil industry after President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared his commitment to friendly relations with Europe and proposed to increase hydrocarbon supplies to the EU to help deal with the energy crisis.

On Tuesday, the court of Novorossiysk stopped the work of sea terminals through which Kazakh oil was exported, and on Wednesday an explosion occurred at the largest oil field in Kazakhstan.

According to Interfax, at about 09:55 local time, a pipe exploded in the Zhylyoi region at the Tengiz field, whose reserves are estimated at 3.2 billion tons. As a result, two workers born in 1985 died, three more people were injured.

An investigation has been launched into the incident under part 3 of article 156 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan (violation of labor protection rules), the police department of the Atyrau region reported.

The field located in the West of Kazakhstan is being developed by the Tengizchevroil company, which is 50% owned by the American Chevron and another 25% by ExxonMobil. A $45.2 billion production expansion project has now been launched at Tengiz, which was scheduled to be completed in 2023.

Kazakhstan ranks 11th in the world in terms of oil production – 1.7 million barrels per day. 89% of this volume is exported, and most of it goes through the pipeline leading to Novorossiysk. The largest buyers of oil from Kazakhstan last year were Italy (17.9 million tons), the Netherlands (8.2 million tons) and France (4.5 million tons).

Kazakhstan is ready to “use its hydrocarbon potential” to help European countries stabilize the situation in the non-energy market, Tokayev said on Monday during a conversation with European Council President Charles Michel.

Biden has been releasing gas from the strategic reserve to lower prices here at home, but he has been sending it out of the country.

As for all the oil pipelines he has shut down, the keystone pipeline is just so Canada can send it to refineries on the coasts that then goes on the world market. But he approved more oil drilling at the start of his administration than Trump did.

I’d like to know why oil companies are still receiving billions in subsidies and tax breaks? Weird how small businesses don’t get them don’t you think?

In 1950, the Chess brothers launched Chess Records with Gene Ammons' "My Foolish Heart," followed by Waters' "Rollin' Stone." Guitarist Jimmy Rogers made his Chess debut August of 1950, with t "That's All Right" and "Luedella." Little Walter who revolutionized the role of the harmonica in Chicago blues with his astonishing flights of amplified fancy. Walter's legacy is punctuated by his slew of hits during the '50s: "Mean Old World," "Off The Wall," "You're So Fine," and the 1955 Dixon-penned R&B chart-topper, "My Babe."

On her brilliant 1960 Argo debut album, At Last!, Etta James righteously wailed on a song written by a formidable trio that included Billy Davis, who would soon be Chess’ A&R boss and helm their move to soul music; Berry Gordy, who was just starting Motown Records; and Gwen Gordy, Berry’s sister who started Anna Records with Davis. “All I Could Do Was Cry” was first offered to Erma Franklin (Aretha’s older sister) as an inducement to join Anna. But with Erma leaning toward jazz, they sold it to Chess, who used it to launch Etta’s successful tenure there.

A whole bunch of electric blues represented in the South Side of Chicago.

Thanks for the tunes!

She also says that we should expect this to happen anywhere we go. Good lord! Vote HARDER folks! I’ll find her one on voting. It’s a doozy.

Yep I’m pretty sure that her staff despises her. No one could be this consistent on sounding silly as much as she does without it being deliberate.

Wow. There’s a baby raccoon outside my window and climbing the screen. Is it looking for water or something to eat? Friends have said they’ve seen them, but this is my first. How cool.

@snoopydawg . Where do they find these people. I've known five-year-olds who can express themselves more clearly. In fact I don't know any adults who speak like that. What language is that? Possibly a new version of pig-Latin.

I can’t find the voting one and I’m heading to the hills, but if I find it later I’ll post it. It’s something about how Roe isn’t a settled issue yet because we can vote for more democrats who can make a carve out for the filibuster and then pass a bill….it’s not like democrats hold all branches of government right gd now or anything.

Our national strategic oil reserves are being shipped overseas to the tune of 5 million
barrels. How will this help 'muricans at the pump one wonders?
