Friday Night Photos Zoocchini Edition

Happy Friday everyone. As always, post any photos you like.

I spent a few hours at the zoo Wednesday morning. And just like my visit to the Safari Park a few weeks ago none of the large animals were out or were sleeping. Thankfully the smaller critters were good enough to step up and say take my picture.

It's nice to see you as always. That is a very strong image, and album cover. The swinging movement of the garlic is musical and intriguing. Do you have a sample of the group's music to post?

Thank you for your wonderful portraits. The clarity and composition is always so stunning, and the moments you capture are distinctive.

From a walk on the beach yesterday …

Have an enjoyable weekend everyone.

I have the one with purple hues in my photo library and love running across it.

Social your photos take me back to my youth when I visited the zoo. I haven’t been there in decades but I’ve read that it’s been updated nicely over the years.

Here’s Soreass pass from this side. I’ll tell ya it looked much worse standing at the top looking down and finding a path. It’s the one in the middle.

I remember how much you enjoyed that drawing in the sand. This one is from the same beach, close to the same spot, different year and time.

You live in such a classically beautiful mountain environment. I’m glad you made it down the mountain safely.

Nice landscape shot of Soreass pass.
If you haven't been to the zoo in decades you wouldn't recognize the place.

From the first shot it looks like rain is on the way.
Love the sand patterns. Simple yet captivating.
Enjoy your weekend too.

@janis b Looks mighty inviting to a sea and shore birder... I love the flamin' lines in the sand. Great patterns. Beautiful photo Janis!

The other side of the coast land in the foreground would have even more interest for you. It has a vast swampland and sand dune area on the open ocean. It's a 25 minute drive over the mountain from home on a narrow gravel road that occasionally is closed due to slips.

I like the sand the best, I think, although, I'm pretty sure it would depend upon my mood which one I like best. Simply gorgeous art!

The landscape around me provides great subject matter! I photographed the ocean because the mood of that moment was so appealing.

Hi all, Hey SP!

GREAT animal photos SP! Awesome work man. Beautiful great stuff! Love those Carmine Beeaters.

For a long time when zoos were keeping Flamingos in captivity for extended periods, they lost their color. The pink faded. Then they figured out, feed them brine shrimp. I don't know what they use these days, I think it was the carotene that did it. Maybe they have something else, but for decades brine shrimp was the magic secret to keeping yer Flamingos pink in captivity. Great photo!

Great pix all! Be well all!

I knew diet played a part in the flamingos color, but I didn't know it was brine shrimp that gives them the pink color.

It took me a week longer to get this pic than I thought. We've been so cold and wet here, that the roses didn't really start blooming until last week. So here's the rose bush in a picture from today, to compare with the pic I posted two weeks ago, of the bush from about 25 or so years ago.

The area around the rose bush needs weeding. Look at those grass tops!

Here's a goat pic I took today. This is Lily, the smallest full grown goat we've ever had. She had a tough childhood and is completely tame, trusting and friendly because of that. I adore her.

Lily is about half the size of the boy goats, and 2/3 the size of the other girl goats.

And finally, this isn't the best of pics, but it shows something I am proud of. I planted this tree almost 30 years ago; it was about knee high when I did. It's over 80 feet tall now!

Poplar tree, getting old.

Back in the 60's my dad planted a small Redwood tree in the backyard. It grew to be real tall like your Poplar
