Open Thread WE 15 JUN 22 ~ off-beat sculptures
Taking apart old typewriters and re-inventing them as birds seems to solve several problems
in one stroke. Writers block? No problem. Disassemble your keyboard. Want a vet free pet?
Make your own! Just add ink and paper.

Daoming Town in Sichuan Province, China, is known for its bamboo weaving traditions. “The practice,” says Archi-Union Architects, “is more than a rural industry. It is an integral part of the way families in the town spend time together and how neighbors visit with each another.”

Evoking the brushstroke of a traditional Chinese landscape painting and situated amongst a bamboo forest, the Mobius-style design is meant to capture the relationships between interior and exterior and heritage and innovation.

Good morning...
Best of luck wrestling the boats!
Almost through with the deck project. Crew will return Friday to wrap it up. Went out this AM for a few more sticks of wood.
Loved the sculptures featured today. Thanks for the OT, Q.
Hot as blue blazes here. Supposed to moderate a bit this weekend. Sure has made the deck project a challenge.
Take care, everyone!

Only thing worse than decking
is roofing in the heat. Don't know how they do it (crews are mostly from south of the border).
Guess they are used to it?
A boat project, like a house or a life, is never done.
The push today was to wrap up a 6 month refit.
Came out good and ready to go. My foot hates me,
but I do have a certain pride in accomplishing so much.
Good for the checkbook too!

Good morning yawl, also QMS and any cutters,
sloops and ketches hanging about. Finished the morning chores and its only 11:12, w00t - long lunch, or jump-start the rest of the day's work. Congrats on a finished refit, QMS!
Safely back from ouor mini trip and only a week behind. Dunno how that happened, but it always does. Official local temp is 77, but my thermometer, in the shade, says 79.
It's global wind day and the anniversary of the Battle of Lindanise another victory for the Crusaders in the papist (and genocidal) northern crusades. In this one papist Danes and their German(ic) allies were victorious over the pagan Estonians and when the dust settled they created the Danish Duchy of Estonia. After a suitable period, the Daanes sold it to the Teutonic Order. God was very pleased by all this.

Sounds like the Teutonics made out alright
Actually have no ideas about this, but in the spirit of getting things done, glad you got your escape in before too much more of life gets in the way.
I'm officially done with the spring flings. The rest is just clean-up, which can wait for another day.
Glad whom-so ever-gods are happy about something.
Packing now for a Maine getaway, bringing the boats to float on a mountain lake. Lots of beer and wine, food and puzzles, books and writing pads.
May see y'all next week if the wifi works.
Otherwise, try to stay cool. My strawberry jam is ready to x-fer to jars.

Enjoy your jam and your getaway.

Up to a point, that is
The particular point being Lake Peipus (see: Alexander Nevsky). Stopped their eastern expansion cold.
They also tried to conquer and convert Lithuania, but were unsuccessful - it took a marriage between the till-then-pagan king of Lithuania and the Catholic Queen (officially "King") of Poland to achieve what two centuries of warfare had not.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Thanks for the OT and gorgeous art!
It is hot, humid, feeling way more like late July, early August than June 15.
QMS, how you manage to do what you do with the pissed off foot you have, is really inspiring. We need to stop complaining, soldier on, eh?
I envy you your trip to Maine. You will have so much fun! Wow!
Hope you get some great pictures.
Meanwhile, I have a wedding anniversary trip to S. Padre Island for 3 nights. We will be too far up in the condo on the beach to get any shots of dolphins. Maybe we might take a little boat ride and do some watching. It is predicted to be quite a bit cooler in that extreme south Texas than in Houston area east Texas.
I figure on checking the gas prices as we get closer to the date. I want to be prepared, not caught completely off guard.
Restaurants are jacking up their prices like you would not believe!
While I do have a history of burning shit, if I have hubby support, we will cook, not starve, will eat cool stuff, be happy, forget the expense.
have fun while you can, pal!
