Herr Field Marshall Kos
Yes, I made the mistake after long time not reading TOP just to gauge how the diehards were viewing the war. It looks like Kos himself has taken the lead and fancied himself a genius field marshall telling the masses what is going on. More than anything Herr Field Marshall Kos is pushing that the Russian military is inept and corrupt. Advantage Ukraine. Every apparent Russian success is Pyrrhic. And man oh man are the party members on board and going even more hyperbolic that Herr Field Marshal. Seems like the comment sections are a written version of Orwell's 2 minute hate fests in 1984. So much for that site.
I’ve been reading their essays since this started
and have noticed that 10 minutes of daily hate for all things Russia. There are lots of little field marshals and they all seem to only use mainstream media sources. The biggest change I’ve seen in the last few weeks was that maybe Russia isn’t going to lose the war so quickly or run out of ammunition and bombs which they were predicting at the start. But apparently Russia is still using conscripts to fight the war instead of the main military.
It’s times like these that I’m sad I’m banned, but anyone who doesn’t go with Russia bad for fighting an unprovoked war gets hr'd into oblivion. Everyone else parrots the media talking points. Lots of people are pushing for Biden to send heavier offensive weapons and especially the bombs that can reach deep into Russia. The site is 20 years old and boy what a change from its original stance against the Iraq war. Just gobsmacked!
As I was driving today I came across a few yards that had 'pray for Ukraine' signs in them and other pro Ukraine slogans.

evening snoopy...
in my travels around my area i frequently come across ukrainian flags and other signs of support, especially in baltimore city where there are large communities of eastern europeans.
in the surrounding county, you can spot the posers because they sometimes hang the ukrainian flag upside down.
You're speaking about most of my family too
curiosity, intelligence, a strong sense of observation perilous
My father took me out to the U Michigan campus area on V-E day to see the cheering and shredded papers in the streets
but never spoke of why he and a friend rode the rails (boxcar?) to DC in the early 1930s.
He'd been shut down so intensively
Someone else spoke to an aunt about Prague in the family history
and was met with fury: "We are Americans!"
How sad
Did he ever open up and talk about things? None of my family ever fought in any wars and I don’t remember us talking about them. I do remember going to the airport once about the Vietnam war and wearing a POW bracelet. But that seemed more like a fad than any anti war movement.
It’s great to see you. Hope things are going well for you and your family?

They had no idea of what opening up meant.
But I'm starting to post more actively it seems! And your writing just gets stronger.
Almost nothing is known about my father's family (they farmed in the midwest). The other side were first-generation immigrants.
I wish I'd known how to ask questions and what to ask earlier.
Only later did I find I seemed to be usefully intelligent enough to pursue a kind of work that felt right.
Best wishes to Sam!

heh, thanks for confirming that my choice to walk away from the great orange satan was the right one.
have a great evening!
Ahh, music.
Sunday night my wife and I went to our first concert since the pandemic: Tears for Fears has reunited and is touring in support of their new album, Tipping Point, and were outdoors at the Levitt Pavilion here in Denver. This was the second date on their tour.
I was extremely impressed with how well they sounded. Mr. Orzabal was in fine voice, and the female vocalist they are touring with (Carina Round) handled all those classic Oleta Adams riffs with incredible ease. The sound was just excellent, with perfect vocal intelligibility and no mud whatsoever. Full marks to all of them- it really has encouraged me to spring for some more tickets as the summer goes on. If you get a chance to see them, it is well worth the price of admission....

thanks for the tip. ms shikspack and i have been going to select concerts for a while now, because, well, life just isn't life without music. we pick our venues carefully, usually outdoor venues or spacious halls where people aren't packed in like sardines.
last weekend we went up to a beautiful theatre in new jersey to see a yes tribute band that some of ms shikspack's friends play in. we've got plans to get out to some blues and bluegrass festivals this summer, too. yay!
glad you got out and had a good time!
A band I used to play in
did Starship Trooper to open the first set, and Siberian Khatru to open the third. Good times!
TFF is such a vocally-driven band that I worried about how well the PA guys would do with it. They've refined it down to a fine art, and I think they were taking everything direct, with very few open mics onstage (just the drum overheads and vocal mics). It was so pristine without having all the multipath crud that you usually get to muddy it up. I think that they are using Firehouse Productions again this tour- there was at least one Firehouse semi there. In any case, they did incredibly well.
Orzabal still has every bit of his range- his voice doesn't seem to have aged a bit. He just got remarried (to a woman from Denver, which is probably why they played here) about 5 weeks ago. Losing his first wife must have been just brutal on him.

Good evening Joe. Thanks for the Evening Blues.
Heh, "mama said don't go near that river ...". and other echoes.
Be well and have a good one and a great weekend.

Is this important?

The FISA court rubber stamps almost every case so I’m not sure why they thought this back door was needed. The article says that Obama hid it from congress and the FISA court. But there’s so much lawbreaking in the intelligence agencies I’m not sure if congress will give a rat’s ass about it. Or republicans for that matter since they have also refused to protect the constitution.

it would seem to be important, though it might be important for reasons that have little to do with hillary or the democrats (might being operative here). we need more information to make any sort of judgement.
first, we need to know why there was a feeb workspace inside a dc law firm, who put it there and who had access to feeb databases. was perkins coie working for the feebs? if so, what kind of wall existed between agents, databases and attorneys?
we probably need information about who was authorized to search feeb databases in the p-c workspace, what they queried and to whom they reported their results - a considerable data dump, i would imagine.
also of interest might be whether this is an unusual arrangement or do the feebs have workspaces in a number of law firms, and if so, what are the rules for each outlet and are they scrupulously observed? if there are other law firms that have feebs working in them, it would be useful to have the same information about database queries and to whom the results were reported. there could be an interesting minefield underneath all of this.
Lots of questions ehh?
This was reported a few days ago but I haven’t seen much yadaing about it except for off mainstream media sites.
Remember that the FBI had a field office in Ukraine and was working with democrats on cooking up stuff against Trump. I read something about how Durham was supposed to fail at holding anyone accountable for Russia Russia just like Mueller was supposed to not find anything about not only Trump, but no one in Hillary’s camp that cooked it up. Just like Comey was supposed to fail to hold Hillary accountable for her private email server. Barr of course was also there to make sure nothing happened to anyone. "It’s a big fcking club…." Amen to that George.

yep...
the story is likely to be carried by people who smell partisanship in it. sadly, i don't think that there's much of anybody in the press that smells the fisa violations and cares enough about it to look deeply into it. maybe greenwald or taibbi would if they come across an inside source, but damned few others.
I think Turley could write about it
He seems more to follow the letter of the law and not so much partisanship. Shitlibs despise Greenwald because he’s pro Putin
