Democrats embrace "Modern Supply-Side Economics"
I bet you didn't think that the Democrats, after letting the neo-cons into the party and falling in love with the CIA, could get any worse. Well, you would be wrong.
The president dropped his first hint in a speech on Jan. 7, in which he said “if car prices are too high right now, there are two solutions: You increase the supply of cars by making more of them, or you reduce demand for cars by making Americans poorer.” He stressed that his administration preferred the first course of action.
Then two weeks later, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen used the term “modern supply-side economics” to describe Build Back Better and Biden’s wider economic agenda.
...
New York Times columnist Ezra Klein tweeted an excerpt from the speech with the comment: “Into. My. Veins.”Klein was understandably excited, as he’s been championing the idea that liberals ought to embrace a version of supply-side thinking. He’s not alone: A host of economists, such as Eli Dourado at Utah State University, have been promoting what they call “progressive supply-side economics.” Miles Kimball at the University of Colorado at Boulder has been writing a blog since 2012 titled Confessions of a Supply-Side Liberal.

So we now have "The Right"
(as defined by their economic policy) battling against "The Farther Right".
I wonder which side will win the hearts and minds of the people in the next election.

Bingo
All are in the service of the wealthy elite.
The Republicans are already running on nothing.
It's basically two parties spitting in the faces of America. Should we take bets on which saliva lands the furthest?

Is that new-speak for trickle down economics?
Like whatever trickles down from above by the rich folk
smells yellow when it splatters on your head

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
It is not only the economy that the dems are schmoozing with
the republicans.
Remember how the republicans denied Obama's supreme court choice to later get Federalist Society approved extremist appointees. Now we get this!

The citizens of the empire
not so much. But we don't count.
Sheesh. Bipartisan notions are so
last century. The uniparty prevails.

Bipartisan?
That was not the point that I was trying to make.
Republican nominees to the Supreme Court come with the approval of the conservative Federalist Society whereas Democratic nominees rely on the opinion of Susan Collins and Lindsey Graham.
Possibly irrelevant to most Americans

Its them or us they say.
Also climate. If everybody in the world owns cars and houses, even motor scooters then think of all the carbon that is produced.
Poverty of the vast majority, truly bestial grinding poverty will reduce use of fossil fuels and allowthe essential workers to keep consuming more and more. Poor People will move to tropical climes, live in the forest and burn wood for fire. Live in tipis and wear loinclothes. This will balance out the rich and their superyachts and business jets.
TIGHTEN YOUR BELTS!

Trickle down economics has been thoroughly debunked.
Its bullshit. its really trickle up economics, stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
The Reagan era is when the neoliberal scheme to use GATS to destroy public services was cooked up. We've had 30 years of it and its shit.
its a deal between the rich of the world. Wealth is trickling up at dizzying rates. People are unable to sacrifice more. They cant tighten belts.
Will somebody please replace these idiots with a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE
They need to be kicked out on their asses.
Actually this is the one concept GHW got right
Supply side economics is VODDOO ECONOMICS
I never knew that the term "Never Again" only pertained to
those born Jewish
"Antisemite used to be someone who didn't like Jews
now it's someone who Jews don't like"
Heard from Margaret Kimberley
And he didn't even coin the term!
One of GHWs script-writers found "voodoo economics" in the writings of Ayn Rand and simply "appropriated" it.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
To go along with the zombie companies they so hate.
The way they put it, they are our biggest problem. Its all the fault of the zombie firms (for not failing on demand).
I’m really sorry to say
that they are exactly meeting my expectations- which is to say that they are making things worse at a blinding pace. Woohoo.
Twice bitten, permanently shy.
