The scariest episode was being put into the anchor locker to keep it 'free' as it paid out. Each link was the size of two fists. Loud as hell. It was all I could do to avoid the exploding iron. Think the captain was a bit sadistic.

The Clinton years. At that time I lived right near a homeless family shelter. The number of homeless families and institutional separations of struggling families with children.exploded during the mid 1990s. The line of families waiting there was heartbreaking, and it just kept getting longer and longer. Homeless families.
This is also why the US healthcare system can never be fixed. Instead the poor have been put in an impossible situation. The chance of the poor and unskilled workers making enough money to handle the economic realities of the neoliberal economy tradeoffs, which attempt to optimize the global value chains, to maximize value for global corporations. Basically to make labor cheaper. A PR campaign to help them facilitate the legal changes to grease the wheels of liberalization. This means that many jobs will be lost here in the US, probably forever. Its already uderstood and planned that many will lose homes to foreclosures. Huge amounts will be made on the transition by banks. There wont be new jobs at the bottom for them. Or indoor housing they can afford with their low incomes. Where will they go?
There is no housing available for poor, hopefully working familiess. Especially if any of them have health issues they fall through the cracks. Relative to the cost of living wages are falling rapidly. Thanks to the Clintons changes government cannot help people in dozens of different ways. They attempt to portray themselves as fixers to help Third world oligarchs navigate the bizarre new landscape of neoliberal ideology in order to use the new globalst rules and international "rule based system" to get what they want. The system has been rigged for them but they dont know how to take advantage of that yet. Governments are required to give up rights to govern in the WTO. To prevent them from subsidizing once public services.
