Capitalists want to make the workers more obedient
We are all familiar with the right-wing claim that lazy workers won't go back to those terrible, low-paying jobs because they've have been living large on $300 a week of UI. So obviously that needs to be cut off and the workers starved back to their jobs. Because that's how a perfect system is supposed to work with employers demonstrating utter contempt for employees.
Um, get a job?
There are millions of vacancies, and small businesses across the Nation are desperate for workers. https://t.co/0ejI45Ja6I

This is why 26 Republican leaning states cut off unemployment benefits early. Literally turning down $2 Billion of free cash in order to punish the working class and force them back to their poverty-wage jobs.
It didn't work.
a June survey from Indeed.com, 10 percent of those who were unemployed but not urgently looking for a job cited UI as a reason. A paper by economists at the University of Chicago and the JPMorgan Chase Institute, which used hundreds of thousands of individual bank records to look at the effects of UI on job-finding, concluded that the $300 weekly benefits decreased total employment by about 0.5 percent.Research also suggests that cutting off benefits did spur more job hunting. A study by Goldman Sachs found that the unemployed were 6 percentage points more likely to find a job in states that cut off benefits early.
Those red states got no early job boost.
The August jobs report disappointed.
But nothing can shake the belief of our capitalist overlords that if you punish the working class enough they will eventually bend to your will. This was the headline of just a few days ago.
The right-wing capitalist class doesn't give two sh*ts about working class people. Even despite these results, they are still pushing the lazy workers meme.
“What if we just cut off the unemployment?” Ingraham responded. “Hunger is a pretty powerful thing.”
...
After a tangent from Ingraham complaining about millennial self-care discourse, Taffer responded with an affirmation of the need for negative incentives. “I have a friend in the military who trains military dogs, and they only feed a military dog at night, because a hungry dog is an obedient dog,” he said. “If we’re not causing people to be hungry to work, then we’re providing them with all the meals they need sitting at home.”
It won't surprise you and me that the September job numbers disappointed by an even larger amount. The experts predicted 500,000 new jobs, but there were only 194,000 .
Nevertheless, Biden's Labor Secretary Walsh says that there is nothing to worry about.
when asked if he'd consider bringing back the enhanced benefits, Walsh said "you don't need to."
"We're heading in the right direction," he said.
When federal benefits expired on Labor Day, over 8 million people lost their benefits completely. But that's OK, apparently. According to the capitalists the only problem is that they haven't punished the working class enough.
So what do you think they've got in mind? Those crumbs that they tossed us during the pandemic? They are going to take them back.
Florida's Department of Economic Opportunity is pressing ahead with efforts to recoup extra money paid to Floridians during the COVID pandemic. Meanwhile, Floridians who fell on hard times say they don't have the money to pay back.
Much like how they cut off UI payments early, red states are leading the way to taking the money back.
She received $636 a week for 12 months.
On Aug. 12, she opened an envelope sent from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) containing five “notices of overpayment determination.”
The state said she owes $27,762.
Millions of American workers don't want to work sh*t jobs anymore, and that is costing the capitalist class a lot of power. They want that power back.

"Hunger is a pretty powerful thing" - exactly
so let this powerful misfit of a human being starve.
My father, who experienced lots of hunger in WWII in Russian POW camps, used to say, it takes a long time to starve to death.
I wish her a slow, long starvation time. She deserves it.
HOw much more hate is the media propagande causing? I regret to have read this right after waking up from a nice, restful nightsleep.
Disgusting.
Yeah, you can find jobe, one worse to survive and live on than the next. Of course she could offer all those lazy bumbs an illegal tent in the jungle to live in, better we could offer her one. At least that would secure her a place in prison.
In the now 16 years of living in what people think of being a paradise, my son wes NEVER without a job, but it NEVER paid enough to pay for the empires's elite filthy rich'e rental prices.
How long do you want to let these assholes get away with abusing its people?

But I recently read that the US labor force is actually shrinking because birth rates are not high enough to replace workers dying or retiring.
So next they will try to destroy pensions. Oh, wait. The FED is already doing that with negative real rates.
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
We are a nation at war
about everything. Modern American capitalism has devised this war as one against labour, us 99%. The most potent tool here is establishing poverty as a given, it's what fuels our economy, keeping us off balance and in fear of losing everything.
Way back when, one of the arguments for universal health care in America was that other countries had it, and their businesses didn't have to figure that cost into the price of their product. Still makes sense, but no one brings that up anymore because it gives labour some freedom to tell the bosses to take their job and shove it.
