Mimi's Nightly Open Thread

Heh, before I fall completely apart reading C99p at unholy hours for me, I will post this for all to put in what you want and when you want it. Like a place holder space for all and everything that's on your mind, when you don't know where to put it.

How can I make this thing publish automatically on its own and at which time. I would need it to post at EST 4 pm. That would be German time 10 pm.

Does it make sense? I guess I am too confused and half fallen apart to know what I am trying to do with it.

this video and didn't know where to put it. A long time ago I was in a room of the German Historical Institute in DC and watched a couple of whistle blowers, among them Thomas Drake and John Kiriakou. And I wanted to know what has become of Thomas Drake nowadays.
The last time I saw Thomas Drake live was when they managed to put him in a store as a clerk. Those awful people. bastards.

So what has become of him today? Anyone knows?

Killing Gaza: Documentary by Max Blumenthal & Dan Cohen shows life under Israel's siege

In the feature-length documentary film "Killing Gaza," journalists Dan Cohen and Max Blumenthal documented Israel’s 2014 war on Gaza.

Yet this film is much more than a documentary about Palestinian resilience and suffering. It is a chilling visual document of war crimes committed by the Israeli military, featuring direct testimony and evidence from the survivors.

"Max Blumenthal and Dan Cohen’s powerful new film, 'Killing Gaza,' offers an unflinching and moving portrait of a people largely abandoned by the outside world, struggling to endure."
-Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, best-selling author and activist Chris Hedges.

The more, the merrier.
If you are a night owl, then your posting at 10 pm German time makes sense.
This is a good stand-in for the weekend break of Joe's EB.

The Killing Gaza documentary is good.
Max B. lays it out there for us.

Cheers!

@QMS
I am not a night owl. I am physically dead tired at 10pm German time, that's when Joe posts his EB around late afternoon EST time at your side over the pond. This is for me at around 10 / 11 pm in Germany. I work pretty much to represent a whole worker brigade for every thing in this garden and house and ... so much more. Often work that two men would have difficulties to do. So I am literally physically exhausted. I barely can keep my eyes open to read all the comments on Joe's EB as well. I regret that often, because I would like to participate in the conversation, when all of you do it, i.e. simultaneously.

Then when you all go to sleep, It is already very early morning over here and I am all ready to start my day and go for news, chatting with my son and hanging around online. If I post in early morning hours here, I see some new incoming videos earlier than then you would see them, I would like to post them for you, but I know you would not see them, because you are supposedly sleeping tight and having sweet dreams or nightmares.

Considering what kind of news we get these days, may we should just be happy not to see them at all ... Wink

Ok, now, all be happy. NO news. Smile

It is long and I must admit I have not listened to it all.

So glad to see Max has posted his documentary for free.
EDIT: Oops it is Abby Martin's film not Max's (15 min)
Wrong again...it is Max and Dan Cohen's film
As Israel again subjects Gaza to savage bombardment, targeting and killing civilians and destroying their homes, journalists Max Blumenthal and Dan Cohen have made their important film Killing Gaza freely available on YouTube for everyone to see.
Looks like Youtube has restricted it. You can find the film here:

Abby's comments are worthwhile too.

@Lookout
I haven't seen it and her for a long time.

Hopefully the mess in the ME will lead into some fertile. Hard to believe it could. We have that mess in Germany now replay into mess.2.0. And we will have elections coming up. So, the climate over here is pretty unbearable, if you look at it with my eyes.

Hopefully it will not rain tomorrow so that I can continue mulching myself into the mulch bins.

Sigh. Many thanks for your comment.

@mimi

Suggesting that this started with the burning of a mosque older than Notre Dame as Israelis dance and call for death of Palestinians. As I ask about the US, now who is the aggressor?

Have a good one!

Don't worry about same time replies to comments. We are used to people living across the waters, time zones, etc...
Have fun with it in the sense you are informing and helping. The news is rarely good. We just need to be informed so we have a better understanding of the world, and how to survive it to our life span.

NYCVG

@NYCVG I would keep one device on home time, the others on whatever time zone I was in. I had to do that so I could check my office emails, and be on time for the tour bus.
I got it done, would even tell my legal assistant that i would be sending a response in 6 hours, or whatever.
The important thing is the information exchange. Personal atta boys and girls can be early or late.

That first video has gone private, the one with Max's Documentary "Killing Gaza". Probably because it contains video of a teenage boy being murdered live on camera, and many many graphic images of dead bodies captured by Palestinian family members. One of a severely disabled woman blown out of her wheelchair as her family tried to escape the Israeli bombs. Horrifying.

Not sure why I watched that, it definitely triggered past trauma in my life and I am sicker than shit right now. I am not going to ask for a warning next time because DUH, look at the title. What was I thinking? giddyup

There are bastard cookies from double-click hell at the time&date site. I block them 'cause hell is currently not my favorite place. Here is the map:

Robot telemetry, built in to every Operating System everywhere, puts me in Lakeport because of course. I live miles away in Cloverdale, on the other side of a mountain range in a completely different micro-climate but the time remains the same. So there. bad eyo no cookie Not climate science, time travel. It is always tomorrow in New Zealand today, usually.

What is the U in UTC? Universal. I am down with living in the Universal time, finally after all these years. The math is easier than Windows made me believe. All people must know their Universal time as well as their Local, that's what I think. It is one thing we all have in common. Hah! It's good exercise for my mind, at least. Thanks.

And another thing! While I'm busy telling people how to think, don't forget to look back in the archives here. Mimi hosted some great talks in 2017, continuing on. I can't believe how much my mind has deteriorated in four years, who was that thing spewing such nonsense? LOL "I'm still here." That's my answer now in meat space, to the polite and courteous question "How are you?". Same here.

Thanks mimi! And JtC and all C99ers. Blogs make "always on, always connected" not so necessary, and conversations go deeper sometimes. Non-expiring comments hold a collective wisdom over time. "I think, therefore I am." In my utopia, there is no spam. Imagine that. Imagine no passwords. la la la
