The US hates Russia so much that we're discouraging counties like Brazil from using the sputnik V vaccine, so the idea of recognizing Yuri is out of the question.

Another beautiful day here. Hope you all have a good one.

Any mention of Yuri? No sir. Just a link to some vague Afro-Narcissist crap beneath their bland logo.

A far cry from the time they made an entire goofy cartoon just to celebrate some Soviet lounge-lizard. Now THEY'RE Pravda. Kleio has a cruel sense of humor:

"google doodle", a little cartoon or whatever on their search page where they celebrate things like famous people's birthdays, scientific discoveries and stuff like that. If you google "google doodle" you should get a page full of examples, including this collection of somebody or another's favorites: https://www.wallpaper.com/design/the-best-art-and-design-google-doodles-...

I examined the area burned by wildfires over the entire state of California from the years 2000 to 2020 in order to quantify how wildfire activity differed across Census tracts according to socioeconomic indicators over time. Results showed an approximate doubling in the number of wildfire-impacted Census tracts and number of people residing in such Census tracts over time, mostly due to a roughly 23,000 acre/year increase in the area burned by wildfires over the last two decades.

A Community-Based Urban Oasis: Tour the CHUC Rooftop Farm
https://www.schemataworkshop.com/blog/2020/chuc-rooftop-farm

The roof on the east half of the building supports a recently installed PV array (with even further improved building efficiency), and the other half houses a lively, activated, organic, pollinator-friendly farm. Located in one of the nation’s first soon-to-be-certified EcoDistricts, the farm is a catalyst for a neighborhood-wide network of urban farms, including the nearby Station House rooftop farm, part of the Capitol Hill Transit-Oriented Development!

Take a virtual tour of CHUC’s rooftop farm with Schemata Workshop founders and principals (and CHUC residents) Grace Kim and Michael Mariano below!

The Parched West is Heading Into a Global Warming-Fueled Megadrought That Could Last for Centuries

https://insideclimatenews.org/news/16042020/megadrought-american-west-so...

Several other megadroughts, generally defined as dry periods that last 20 years or more, have been documented in the West going back to about 800 A.D. In the study, the researchers, using an extensive tree-ring history, compared recent climate data with conditions during the historic megadroughts.

They found that in this century, global warming is tipping the climate scale toward an unwelcome rerun, with dry conditions persisting far longer than at any other time since Europeans colonized and developed the region. The study was published online Thursday and appears in the April 17 issue of the journal Science.
...
The regional drought caused by global warming is plain to see throughout the West in the United States. River flows are dwindling, reservoirs holding years worth of water supplies for cities and farms have emptied faster than a bathtub through an open drain, bugs and fires have destroyed millions of acres of forests, and dangerous dust storms are on the rise.

A similar scenario is unfolding in South America, especially in central Chile, a region with a climate similar to that in western North America.

.
All righty then, y'all have a good one...
