First Clinton camp red-baits Sanders, and now, in a stunning turn, they call him a McCarthyite

Despicable.
Did Sanders Lie About Clinton’s Oil Money? NPR Factchecker Can’t Be Bothered to Check
Clinton has gotten $1,465,610 in bundled and direct donations from lobbyists currently registered as lobbying for the fossil fuel industry.”snip
And corporations can’t give directly to campaigns, but they can give to Super PACs that support campaigns. Greenpeace cites “$3,250,000 in donations from large donors connected to the fossil fuel industry to Priorities Action USA, a Super PAC supporting Secretary Clinton’s campaign.”
snip
… the Clinton Foundation lists its donors on its website. There you can learn that the Foundation has received at least $10 million from Saudi Arabia; at least $5 million from Kuwait, as well as from oil-refining billionaire Mohammed H. Al-Amoudi; at least $1 million from ExxonMobil, natural gas-producer Cheniere Energy, Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates, the Dubai Foundation, “Friends of Saudi Arabia,” etc.
And then, if you really want to be kept up at night, there’s this: HILLARY CLINTON: FUELING AMERICA’S ENERGY FUTURE
Bernie isn’t a liar.
had to add this great comment from JekyllnHyde:
In Case if Barney Frank or Anyone Else is Confused
… here’s what McCarthyism was all about, as I pointed out in my two-part diary about Paul Robeson a few years ago.
To even refer to Bernie’s criticism of Hillary in the same breath similar to tactics used by the likes of Joe McCarthy is not only disingenuous, but intellectually lazy rhetoric.
Simply stated, the McCarthy Era was one of the most disgraceful periods in 20th century American history. An air of suspicion hung over ordinary citizens if they were suspected of not conforming to the government's interpretation of being a "good" American. Numerous Americans underwent investigation by federal authorities until Senator Joe McCarthy was censured by the United States Senate. He died a broken man a few years later.
"Guilty until found innocent" was often the approach used by investigators to tar many Americans with wild, unproven allegations of consorting with the enemy. Loyalties were questioned, reputations tarnished, careers destroyed, families uprooted, and lives ruined. Many notable Americans from the entertainment industry were put on lists which made their lives miserable.

Hillary Clinton is a Liar and a Cheat.
We know this. Everybody knows this.
The Media has agreed NOT to talk about this, because...
Apparently the truth is MEAN.
Nixon was impeached for fewer lies than this woman tells on a daily basis.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Nixon wasn't impeached.
When it became clear that that would certainly happen, he resigned.
My husband is STILL adamant that he should be impeached anyway, dead or not! (Lifelong anti-Nixon people here...)
Sorry, should have said...
Going to be impeached.
Course, her HUSBAND was, and they're so similar...
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
HRC and her campaign are victims of relentless
Fact Attacks. All would be swell if she could hop in a time machine and get herself some do-overs on what she's said and done. But then she wouldn't be Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic party and mainstream media and major industry segments and power brokers wouldn't be doing everything possible to force feed her to a reluctant electorate.
They can shove her down my throat, but they can't make me swallow.

Clinton is a victim alright
a victim of her own record . . . here is the real scary possibility: all those who favor her are themselves hawks. they want the right hand of god and the US military to wipe out whatever frightens them or ...... blocks their access to resources to keep their lives running. but they're democrats, you see, because in their minds, is their advocacy for pro life and marriage equality makes them good guys.

I admit it, sometimes
I can be a real Bitch with how I talk about people.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
I don't consider that bitchy, detroit.
You are stating a fact. I said those very words about HRC at TOP every chance I got and was HR'd for almost every one. I'll keep saying it though, because it's the truth.
Liars gonna lie.
Cheaters gonna cheat.

From being fairly indifferent about the Clintons in the '90's
I now loathe them with a passion.
They are a cancer on the body politic, and the sooner they are retired the better.
And that includes Chelsea. I really couldn't cope if she parlayed a presidential attempt.
A Pox on House Clinton.

how I went from thinking Bill was a good president to not being able to stand the sound of his voice. i just didn't know. NAFTA, telecon, welfare reform, crime bill, ramping up mercs in the military . . . i know there's more to this list. oh shit, glass steagall...
and to think i defended that creep.
omg . . . please don't even utter it outloud: Chelsea parlaying this into ... no i'm not even going to say it.

She's just old enough.
If Hillary steals this one, you KNOW who's going to be the "Inevitable" one in 2024.
At that point we might as well just make a fucking crown worth millions, save a bit of fucking money.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
This is something I've wondered about.
It's only a matter of time before Chelsea runs for public office. It makes sense for her to do so in order to keep the House of Clinton relevant in the American body politic.
Back in the day, he had charm and was a relief after the Rs
Such a relief, it seemed at the time. Almost as if we might have a Camelot II moment. Took the hindsight of 20 years to get a full picture of his stealth Republicanism and sleazebag core. Hillary's all of that, and without Bill's raddled remnants of charm. Truly loathsome, both of them. Chelsea, fortunately, is visibly inept and uncomfortable as a family mouthpiece. She'd better hide behind the family foundation and keep drawing her generous salary. But that part of the Clinton cartel might become problematic.
["If the Justice Department and law enforcement agencies do their jobs, the foundation will be closed and its current and past trustees, who include Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton, will be indicted. That’s because their so-called charitable enterprise has served as a vehicle to launder money and to enrich Clinton family friends." Shaky foundations: harpers.org/...]

the clintons
they should go down. And the Bushes and that fucking Gov. Snyder.
But isn't that just the problem? And that's why they will try to protect the Clintons to protect themselves. Maybe we're lucky though with people in the justice department ... maybe we have some real public servants there.

Know how you feel
I still like his voice, and would way rather listen to him than Hillary, a la the Explainer-in-Chief speech at the convention. But now I understand how much the tone and rhetoric is a cover for something else. Policy-wise, the GOP went batshit insane, and the Clintons went Republican, taking the party with them. The thing that fools people, is that the Clintons are always bashing the GOP and contrasting themselves to the Republicans. But the Republicans are now radical, and the Dems are the GOP, policy-wise. It's a good trick and it has worked for about 24 years or so. Times Up.

In my book, casual references to and accusations of McCarthyism by any politician are among the lowest forms of conduct in the political arena.
Barney Frank should know better.

I think they better be very careful, here.
They are underestimating Bernie. Bad chess move, HRC. He will find a way to spoon feed this back to her. My guess, anyway.

RA, i totally agree
as far as I can tell, the only real 11 dimensional chess master to emerge in decades is Bernie Sanders. he simply doesn't falter.
the other thing i was thinking is that young people like him expressly because he a real mature adult. not all this "grown up in the room" type thing.
well, i think i'm going to call it a night rAnn.

Just got in from dinner.
It's validating when someone acknowledges your thoughts. I like how you described the manner in which the youth perceive Bernie. That was spot on; exactly correct. We all are capable of recognizing the real deal.
It scares the crap out of some.

I had to get out of there just now. Man, they're dumb!
They can't understand the argument that Hillary's $250k secret speeches to a group bring up a question that she might look favorably on that group due to the moolah, is not the same thing as ruining some schmo's life by bringing up a meeting he went to in 1931. The idea that it's "guilt by association, thus the same thing" is a tremendous, slimy leap.
Anyway, in the midst of the discussion and the back and forth over Barney Frank's going into the banking business immediately after leaving Congress, somebody pulled out the old, untrue, thingy about lefties not bothering to vote and that's why the Democrats have lost Congress. You've got to give up after awhile, right? How many times can you give them a link, telling them the leftie vote is always there? You give them the info and they don't believe it. All you can do is shake your head and go "Man oh man!" to yourself as you walk away.
So...now we know taking big money is ok. We know Greenpeace is a nasty organization. That's another thing. Barney Frank is a scummy politician and a nasty person. Apparently (I've read) he'll call people on the telephone and not give his name because he's busy and doesn't want to waste time chatting. He wants to get down to business! Yeah....those authoritarian lovers are going "oh, so now Barney Frank is under the bus, too!" as is they can't make the small step to see how they've done the same with Cornel West, Glenn Greenwald, Greenpeace, Shaun King, BLM, et al.
Eekers! I need a drink.
Shah, the people who will remain
at dKos are only slightly better than Trump supporters. they are as rabid.
at the heart of our differences is this (i believe): we aren't attached to Bernie, but to his vision. we aren't promoting a political party, but issues. and we are more likely to get involved to bring the vision to the issues and actually work to solve our problems.
we are more adept at being individuals and standing on our principle. we don't need others to speak for us. or think for us.
and, btw, i am so glad to see you and Mrs. Shah back in the game. hugs & kisses to you both!!!

I think it says way more about Barney than Bernie
The first time Congress identifies a dyed-in-the-wool, unrepentant socialist and who do they compare him to? The red baiter. Went to the comments of the Boston Magazine that reported this and told Barney that if Bernie was McCarthy, then Barney must be Strom Thurmond. Think I'll go back and change it to Frank Rizzo...
