The short form? Think Dakota, either one. It's bad and looking to get worse.

Swedish hospitals were treating 1,004 patients for Covid-19, SVT said, an increase of 60% over the previous week’s 627. Data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control suggests the rise in recent weeks may be Europe’s fastest.
New infections are also surging, hitting a seven-day average of more than 4,000 this week against fewer than 500 at the beginning of October. The country recorded 4,635 new infections on Thursday.

Sweden is a disaster
They are ranked 20 in the world in most deaths per million from Covid-19 at 609 people. Their neighboring Scandinavian countries are no where near this. Denmark is 131. Herd immunity is extremely unlikely. Now they are seeing the results of allowing the virus to propogate in new infection numbers. The 3 day moving average is 5000 cases per day on a population of about 10 million. That's about the same number of cases that NY is now reporting with a population of 21 million.
Note edit:fixed population of Sweden
Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.
It does seem that they are doing relatively badly,
especially compared to their neighbors. Information that humans can maybe learn from, or maybe not.
Thanks for reading.

Sweden
seems to have disproved the herd immunity fantasy that many people were counting on.
You can't get herd immunity if you can get the virus multiple times. Which has happened with Covid.
You can't get to herd immunity if after having Covid your time for being immune is short---a few weeks, maybe a month or two or three.
The percentage of the population that needs to get Covid and then have some immunity has to be very high. Sweden didn't get there and neither will we.
Wear a mask. Social distance. Wash our hands. That's what we've got now and it can work. Look at Asia.

Well, the problem with that is that Asia is
The Enemy!! The Us can't emulate The Enemy, that would be all wrong. (/snark)

The End of Western Civilization
Lockdowns forever. The demise of restaurants. No more school. This "distance learning" is a sham. 31% of Chicago kids who were given a laptop never logged in. They were passed anyway.
Maybe Sweden was right. Better to chance death than live in terror, locked in your house.
Swedes are fatalistic people. And nobody's fool.
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
Where did you read that one can get the virus many times?

Sorry to hear about your brother in law, but...
" My brother in law has had covid twice

Respiratory issues. Says each time it gets worse."
...I would be interested to know if he has been tested and found to have lab-confirmed Covid19 each time. There are a lot of respiratory diseases out there that have similar symptoms, so it is entirely possible to get quite sick with something that resembles Covid but isn't. And the fact that his lungs were evidently damaged by his experience at the twin towers makes him all the more of an outlier.
I ask this because the reported numbers of reinfections of Covid19, worldwide, is maybe a dozen people. And most of those have been asymptomatic--they were simply retested and the test came up positive. It appears that our immune system normally reacts to the corona-virus the way it does to other similar viruses; we get at least partial immunity, that can last for quite awhile. The number of people with immune system issues in a population the size of that exposed to Covid19 will in fact be considerably larger than the reported numbers of reinfected people.
yes, lab tested confirmation
the second time it ran thru his wife and kids as well.
I think a compromised immune system is unable to
fend off new variants.

The article linked to in the story posted is from the
Guardian, and it cites and quotes Swedish sources. Though it might all be propaganda all the same, it is definitely not NYT propaganda. It is also a day more recent than Ivor's You Tube, fwiw.

Please don't confuse positive
Please don't confuse positive test results with "cases." Best to compare hospital admissions and deaths from primarily covid 19 to similar stats in other countries (difficult because of different methods, definitions, cultural, and social habits, etc.) Also, compare all deaths in a period to all deaths in similar periods.
There is a lot of sloppy reporting out there, but we are learning more all the time. Check many sources. Think for yourself. Thanks, john
