Nancy Pelosi oversees the death of the Democratic Party

The Killing of George Floyd and the Final Fracturing of the Democratic Party, Labor, and Civil Rights Coalition

George Floyd being killed by a police officer in Minneapolis is not simply about the death of one Black man. His death also killed an historic but uneasy alliance among the Democratic Party, labor unions, and the civil rights movement. The reaction to his death is ending the last vestiges of the historic New Deal coalition that defined progressive politics in American for at least 50 years, ushering in an era where it now appears that the Democratic Party and the civil rights community are at odds with labor and unions.

Historically, the New Deal coalition from the 1930s that defined the Democratic Party was composed of labor unions, farmers, working class, and increasing people of color. It was a coalitional party weaving together a variety of interests, primarily focused on economic and class issues. From the 1930s to 1960s it fought mostly for minimum wages, workplace safety, and collective bargaining issues. The coalition produced significant gains improving the economic lot of its members and Americans in general, helping shrink, as Thomas Piketty noted, the rich-poor gap in America. This was the Old Left–class and economic focused.

Yet a valid criticism of this progressivism was the blind eye it cast on race. Many New Deal programs such as minimum wage laws excluded southern Black sharecroppers, or unions were criticized for excluding Blacks. The Democratic Party in the South, which dominated that region from the Civil War to the 1960s, was notorious for the White Primary Supreme Court cases where the former fought hard to exclude Blacks.

From the comments in a recent Moon of Alabama essay:

This is not about DEFEATING Trump... It is about DEFEATING any potential for ordinary people come together and promote the notion of government of people by the people for the people. democrats, can always manage Trump for another 4 years.. The establishment and the billionaire class, can't stand the public/people have a say in their own republic.

I think the title is spot on because Pelosi has killed everything that the democrats once stood for. Of course she did not do it alone because she got plenty of help from Reid, Schumer and Obama and so many others. But Pelosi holds a lot of power and although she and Obama hid behind republican obstructionism during Obama's tenure her blatant cowtowing to Mitch McConnell is plain to see. One of the most blatant ones was on DACA where she insisted that the Dreamers had to have protection before she would even think of meeting McConnell half way on funding for Trump's wall. The Dreamers actually believed and you could see the wind go out of them when there was no deal, but Trump got $5 billion for it anyway. Where did she find the money? Wherever they find money for things their donors want. And yes it is the big corporations and banks that are investing billions in less than 30 miles of wall.

Jimmy Dore calls Pelosi a Nazi which to me is on of the worst things one could be called. But she had been finding all kinds of money for death and mayhem, but none at all to keep people here alive with universal health care. Even now in the middle of the epidemic she is bailing out the insurance companies by paying people's COBRA payments which means they are still at the mercy of the insurance companies. And Trump has said all medical bills from COVID will be paid by the federal government. When even Trump is to your left on human rights, and yes UHC is a human right, then what else can you call Pelosi?

Off Topic:

What the hell Obama? George Bush RESPECTED THE RULE OF LAW? In one universe is Torture not against the law? In what world is invading a country on FALSE PRETENSES not againt the Nuremberg Law? It is the ultimate WAR CRIME you dithering idiot. And for those IN THE BACK Obama also invaded 3 countries which was AGAINST THE RULE OF LAW. Quick how many countries had Trump invaded? And who the hell even knows how many bombs Trump dropped every year since he took office? We do know that Obama dropped close to 27,000 during his last year in office. And as Saagar noted in his radar we are going back to the good old days of the Obama presidency. Except the Ol' Cobweb-Cranium elected will not be in charge of it. (h/t the liberal moonbat)

Here is the video that she talks about Hillary wanting to get back at Putin for ruining her chance of being president. Good lord she has talked herself into believing the lie she made up.

Hmm the Clintons didn't have any problems taking money from Russia during her tenure as the blood thirsty Secretary of State where she used her foundation to grift as much money from people and foreign governments who wanted her to run interference at her State Department.
And that both she and Bill got money just before she made a deal in Russia... but nothing was wrong with that. All SOS in the past have done that. Right?

Some see hope in a few progressives defeating corporate dims, and that is good. However with Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer as leaders...it ain't a party that represents me.

Biden wanted Flynn to be investigated for violating the Logan Act which he is now denying.

Did Obama/Biden Lie? Strzok's Newly Discovered FBI Notes Reignite "Obamagate"

The belated discovery of disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok’s January 2017 notes raises troubling new questions about whether President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden were coordinating efforts during their final days in office to investigate Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn — even as the FBI wanted to shut down the case.

Investigators will need to secure testimony from Strzok, fired two years ago from the FBI, to be certain of the exact meaning and intent of his one paragraph of notes, which were made public in court on Wednesday.

But they appear to illuminate an extraordinary high-level effort by outgoing Obama-era officials during the first weekend of January to find a way to sustain a counterintelligence investigation of Flynn in the absence of any evidence of wrongdoing.

The Justice Department says the notes were written between Jan. 3-5, 2017, the very weekend the FBI agent who had investigated Flynn’s ties to Russia for five months recommended the case be closed because there was “no derogatory” evidence that he committed a crime or posed a counterintelligence threat. FBI supervisors overruled the agent's recommendation.

Strzok’s notes appear to quote then-FBI Director James Comey as suggesting that Flynn’s intercepted calls with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak “appear legit,” bolstering other recently disclosed evidence showing the bureau saw nothing wrong with Flynn’s behavior.

A former senior FBI official told Just the News that Strzok’s notes about the White House meeting are a red flag that the Comey-led bureau may have been involving itself illegitimately in a political dispute between the outgoing Obama administration and incoming Trump administration.

“It was a political meeting about a policy dispute, and the bureau had no business being involved,” Former Assistant Director for Intelligence Kevin Brock said. “No other FBI director would ever have attended such a meeting.

More gnashing of teeth over yonder that Flynn is getting off for perjury lying to the FBI. Idiots. Trying reading.

For us Texan's, "Over Yonder" is about describing a distance under a mile away. "Out Yonder Ways" is describing a distance over 1 mile.

Honey, will you bring the towel from over yonder...

Well sir, you go down the road a bit, out yonder ways, and find the 1st gas station and make a left by the old tree truck near the crook (creek)...

From LaborPains.org

In California, after a six-day trial, a jury found John S. Romero, former President of United Industrial Services Worker of America (UISWA), located in Colton, Calif., guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit theft or embezzlement in connection with health care (18 U.S.C. 371), 12 counts of theft or embezzlement of approximately $800,000 in connection with health care (18 U.S.C. 669), and one count of filing a false financial report with the Department of Labor, in which he failed to properly report the existence of more than $100,000 in receipts and disbursements (18 U.S.C. 1001).

O/T, When I was consulting with GM, the #2 in charge of the UAW got onto me about taking food off our children's table, because I was driving a Toyota P/U to the Tech Center in Warren MI. I promptly to showed him the sticker on the inside of the door, "assembled by UAW". But that wasn't "good enough". They then had me rent a car, from Avis (GM owned), for $800 a month. It was insane. I spent almost 10K on car rental fees. I wonder how many children we could have fed for that 10K?

I told him, "when GM can build a truck as good as my Toyota, I'll consider going American again." He didn't like that much...

I completely agree with Gjohnsit's comment above 100%!

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

Both parties have their bill boards and slogans they push as the public face of the party. For example, the gopers say their party is for small government and fiscal responsiblity, anti-regulation, etc. The gop is really the party of white nationalism, right wing Christianity, militarism, anti-immigrant. When Bush busted the budget nobody cared as it did not violate the core of the party. When Bush proposed immigration reform, the base turned on him.

Likewise for the democrats. Yah yah the party of FDR. It is the party of race and gender identity, corporate feminists, militarism, corporate intellectual elitists, and any oligarch who will pay them off. Unions support them, but only as front groups for powerful politicans. Rep. Eliot Engel got the support of the teacher unions, Hillary, CBC, and other establishment dems.

The democratic party is no more a party of FDR than the republicans are the party of Lincoln and abolitionists.

Would explain the preposterousness of his candidacy. Everything that follows is a pure example of the power struggle that is going on within the Democratic Party. Anyone countIng the Clinton faction out of that equation does so at their peril. A Biden win may very well be a Clinton win, and Hillary being the hawk she is, it is not inconceivable to see her go full throttle. Anyone care to guess what that might look like from a humanitarian POV? For that reason alone, I pray the Dems lose this election even more than I did during the last election. If that’s possible.

@snoopydawg I had already watched Kim's video and her theory is plausible. My rationale for my comment is that I still believe Hillary's ego will not allow her to take a back seat as the power behind the President/Vice President. I also know that the oligarchy loves Kamala Harris because she is malleable, but the down side is that she is a horrible liar. So they might as well run the authenic evil bitch as Vice President and then Hillary will get to become President after Biden resigns.

Regardless, every scenario makes chills run down my spine. We are so screwed. Bad

Thanks for this great essay, Snoopy.

As for Pelosi, all anyone ever needed to know about her is 5 words:

"Impeachment is off the table."

Calling her a 'Nazi' is too generic, even cliche. Try Ward Churchill's post-9/11 pearl: "Little Eichmann."

OH! And lest we forget:

What the hell Obama? George Bush RESPECTED THE RULE OF LAW?

This is the man who literally called the Constitution "just a goddamned piece of paper."

HE VERBALLY SPELLED OUT HIS CONTEMPT FOR THE RULE OF LAW IN THE LEAST UNCERTAIN TERMS IMAGINABLE. Has Trump done that?!?
