The 3 other cops have been arrested
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is charging the three other officers involved in the George Floyd killing, and Derek Chauvin will now face a second degree murder charge, Senator Amy Klobuchar confirmed on Wednesday.
Footage of Chauvin pressing his knee onto Floyd's neck - despite the prone man saying he couldn't breathe - went viral and drew widespread condemnation. The officer was fired over the incident and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.
Protesters across the nation have demanded the three other officers at the scene — which originated as a response to a suspected forgery — be held accountable as well.
"This is another important step for justice," the senator tweeted.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is increasing charges against Derek Chauvin to 2nd degree in George Floyd’s murder and also charging other 3 officers. This is another important step for justice.
The three other officers - Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane - will be charged with aiding and abetting second degree murder, according to the Star Tribune. Ellison is expected to make an official announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
While the three officers facing charges will likely be celebrated, some legal experts have called into question the wisdom of charging Chauvin with second degree murder, as it could be harder to prove and present more of an opportunity for him to go free.
"There's no way they will be able to prove 2nd degree murder beyond a reasonable doubt," lawyer and Human Events editor-in-chief Will Chamberlain tweeted. "Charging that is a recipe for disappointment and future protests."

There sure as Hell is! Try them before a jury of George Floyd's peers.

Great!
Everything's fixed now, right?
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
So NOW Kobocop wants to say something?

Where was she when the sociopath Chauvin killed during HER watch previously? Oh that's right she (like Biden) have to say something now. Amy's VP dreams are at stake donchaknow.

Can there be mulitple charges?
Like charge the cop with both 2nd and 3rd degree murder?

Laurence Tribe along with a MN criminal law atty argues that the county prosecutor screwed up (intentionally?) with the original 3d deg murder charge, which could have been challenged by the defense and then tossed out by the judge.
byMeanwhile the 2d degree felony murder charge is much more of a close fit to the circumstances. And charging M2 allowed Ellison to then charge the other 3 officers as accessories.
M2 in MN: if convicted the defendant could receive up to 40 yrs in prison.

Is the county prosecutor in question. A chequered history as of late. The circus surrounding the murder of Justine Damond (Australian) by another MPD 'officer'; his alcohol problems; and now this.
The guy needs to retire pronto. Ego wants otherwise.

Just deny Chauvin an attorney
