The worst possible thing you can imagine, times 100

[Warning: you will regret reading this. No, really. You've been warned]

I am only posting this because some may wonder why peace talks in Afghanistan failed, and to remind everyone why war is the ultimate evil.
I can't even imagine the worst horror movie including something like this.

At around 10 a.m. (0530 GMT), an hour before she and her family were set to return home to neighbouring Bamiyan province a three-hour drive away, three gunmen disguised as police burst into the hospital’s maternity ward and started shooting.

Zainab, who rushed back from the washroom after hearing the commotion, collapsed as she took in the scene. She spent seven years trying to have a child, waited nine months to meet her son and had just four hours with him before he was killed.

No group has claimed responsibility for the massacre of 24 people, including 16 women and two newborns. At least six babies lost their mothers in an attack that has shaken even the war-torn nation numbed by years of militant violence.
...
The gunmen then turned to target the cradle where Omid had been asleep. As the sound of bullets reverberated through the ward, Muhammadi said she fainted in fear.

“When I opened my eyes, I saw that my grandson’s body had fallen to the ground, covered in blood,” she recalled, as she wailed with grief.

Deborah Lyons, head of the U.N. mission in Afghanistan, condemned the hospital assault in a tweet. “Who attacks newborn babies and new mothers? Who does this? The most innocent of innocents, a baby! Why?”

Christ! What sort of evil would cause someone to think that a suicide mission to shoot newborn babies was a good idea? That's an act of insanity.
I broke down into tears just making this essay.

The Taliban denied responsibility, and I believe them.
I think this is Daesh.

a commenter here posted a video of children slaughtered and mortally wounded in a hospital in Libya during NATO bombing with the use of cluster bombs and thermobaric weapons. The video set me back for quite a while.

Previous to that I had accidentally come across, in a google search, a photograph of a headless child being held up by a smiling member of the Syrian resistance who had later met with John McCain, which was why I was looking the terrorist up.

I'm glad you cried. I'm so very glad you still have your humanity. The question is, does our political leadership have anything like humanity? As they order lunch with drinks in the White House, do they have any knowledge of what their foreign policy is doing?

@Linda Wood

posted the comment above because it's too awful. But a couple of people had already read it, so I'll leave it. But the truth is that the reason our government gets away with this behaviour is that the American people are not seeing photographs or reading actual journalism about what happens in war. We have starved 85,000 children to death in Yemen alone. Starving a child to death is torture. We have not lost our humanity. We have lost access to the truth.

@Linda Wood
when arguing against those who were cheering Hillary's R2P bombing of Libya to "protect the women and children". I can't think of one instance where Qaddafi targeted and killed a woman or a child.

Be warned this link will take you straight to the RT video (w/o sign in) which shows what American bombs do to little children caught on the receiving end.

Evil happens when it’s so great it exceeds our imaginations to conquer it.

Their hospital in Kunduz was bombed by US forces 4 years ago, 20 dead including doctors.

The Afghani people have suffered for 70 years due to foreign interventions (many US backed) in their country. It is no longer recognizable from what it was in the 50's and 60's.

Back before Michelle Obama became BFFs with the president the TOP front-pagers used to call out as a war criminal.
