what’s the difference between God and Bill Gates?

…God doesn’t think she’s Bill Gates

(6 minutes; but I admit to being ignorant on the science presented)

‘Here’s why Bill Gates wants indemnity… Are you willing to take the risk?’, R.F.Kenedy, Jr, childreshealthdefense.org, April 11, 2020

“Instead of proceeding with caution, Fauci has made the reckless choice to fast track vaccines, partially funded by Gates, without critical animal studies before moving into human clinical trials that could provide early warning of runaway immune response.

Gates (in the video) is so worried about the danger of adverse events that he says vaccines shouldn’t be distributed until governments agree to indemnity against lawsuits. On February 4, 2020, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website, there were only 11 active CV cases in the USA, yet the U.S. quietly pushed through Federal regulations giving coronavirus vaccine makers full immunity from liability.

Are you willing to take the risk?”

From Kennedy’s ‘partially funded by Gates’ hyperlink: ‘Bill Gates says foundation will invest billions in fight to stop COVID-19’, kiro7.com, April 6, 2020

“This comes as second coronavirus vaccine trial by Inovio Pharmaceuticals, backed by the Gates foundation, begins testing in humans.

“Our foundation is trying to be as helpful in a very constructive way as possible. And that’s why I’ve talked to the head of the pharmaceutical companies. We’ve talked to a lot of the agencies, including — CDC and NIH about how we work together on the vaccines and the drugs,” Gates said”.
[…]
“To get to the best case of getting a vaccine to the public in 18 months, Gates said companies need to scale up manufacturing during testing instead of after.

Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, discussed how the work needs to be fast tracked on CNN.

“We then need to be ready to scale and manufacture that vaccine in literally hundreds of millions and billions of doses because it needs to go global when we have it. So that’s the challenge we have. It’s a daunting timetable,” Suzman explained.”

Gates’ Globalist Vaccine Agenda: A Win-Win for Pharma and Mandatory Vaccination’, April 9, 2020, chilldrenshealthdefense.org

I’ll just excerpt a few portions in Kennedy’s righteous diatribe, which includes polio, DPT in Africa, and malaria vaccines:

“Promising his share of $450 million of $1.2 billion to eradicate polio, Gates took control of India’s National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), which mandated up to 50 doses (Table 1) of polio vaccines through overlapping immunization programs to children before the age of five. Indian doctors blame the Gates campaign for a devastating non-polio acute flaccid paralysis (NPAFP) epidemic that paralyzed 490,000 children beyond expected rates between 2000 and 2017. In 2017, the Indian government dialed back Gates’ vaccine regimen and asked Gates and his vaccine policies to leave India. NPAFP rates dropped precipitously.”
[…]
“In 2009, the Gates Foundation funded tests of experimental HPV vaccines, developed by Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) and Merck, on 23,000 young girls in remote Indian provinces. Approximately 1,200 suffered severe side effects, including autoimmune and fertility disorders. Seven died. Indian government investigations charged that Gates-funded researchers committed pervasive ethical violations: pressuring vulnerable village girls into the trial, bullying parents, forging consent forms, and refusing medical care to the injured girls. The case is now in the country’s Supreme Court.

During Gates’ 2002 MenAfriVac campaign in Sub-Saharan Africa, Gates’ operatives forcibly vaccinated thousands of African children against meningitis. Approximately 50 of the 500 children vaccinated developed paralysis. South African newspapers complained, “We are guinea pigs for the drug makers.” Nelson Mandela’s former senior economist, Professor Patrick Bond, describes Gates’ philanthropic practices as “ruthless and immoral.”

In 2010, when Gates committed $10 billion to the WHO, he said  “We must make this the decade of vaccines.” A month later, Gates said in a TED Talk that new vaccines “could reduce population.” And, four years later, in 2014, Kenya’s Catholic Doctors Association accused the WHO of chemically sterilizing millions of unwilling Kenyan women with a  “tetanus” vaccine campaign. Independent labs found a sterility formula in every vaccine tested. After denying the charges, WHO finally admitted it had been developing the sterility vaccines for over a decade.  Similar accusations came from Tanzania, Nicaragua, Mexico, and the Philippines."

According to the journal Science, one of the most accurate and rigorous news sources, the state of Bihar investigated the 7 deaths and found that one drowned, one died from snake bite, two committed suicides by ingesting poison (if you want to be indignant about something, neoliberal agricultural policies are a fair target), one died of malaria, one died of a hemorrhage unrelated to the vaccine and one likely, but not certainly died from a reaction to the vaccine. The HPV vaccine dramatically reduces probability being stricken with cervical cancer and several related cancers. Cervical cancers are a major cause of death in poorer countries.

What is supposed to be the nefarious motive for the Gates foundation giving away free vaccinations? Gates doesn't make any money from these efforts.

you cut off Gate's sentence insinuating that he proposed that it was only through the use of vaccines that the fertility rate could be lowered - a Freudian slip if you will.

Here's what he said in full:

"Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent!"

ALL of these can lower the reproductive rate. Personally, I would give more weight to the last two but vaccines are definitely a factor in those as well.

Women’s Health

One of the key U.N. Millennium Development Goals objectives was to achieve universal access to reproductive health and family planning services. Allowing families to plan the number and timing of their children reduces infant mortality rates and improves the health of both women, and their families. The very conditions that will help the population stabilize are also good for society; they help families’ live longer, healthier lives, raise healthier children, and have more opportunity to contribute to their nations and families’ prosperity. These kinds of advancements will lead to lower fertility rates, and eventually, population stabilization.

As evidenced by every developed country, there is a direct correlation between child mortality rate and fertility rate. It would be a stretch to think that part of the reason for this correlation was reduced fecundity due to an ancillary effect of vaccines. This correlation had preceded the widespread use of vaccines in every nation where child mortality has been reduced.

But it would be interesting to investigate the differences in financial aid that Gates applies to the different factors that can reduce child mortality and birth rates. I suppose if he gave out $40 million worth of free birth control pills to women's health clinics in African nations he would be accused of genocide.

Do you think there would be as much of an uproar if Gates financed Planned Parenthood clinics in developing countries?

cut off those two sentences? was it in his TED talk? the reason he got into birth control in africa was mellie told him: 'oh those poor african women; one baby in a sling, leading two, and one baby on the way! and she's carrying a basket of her fruit to market on her head!'

so he came up with a programmable, injectable birth control chip and sure, pressured women into getting them. he also wants every woman in africa (perhaps you've seen the photos?) to have a smart phone, so they can check the weather and market prices for their crops (many of which are his GMO crops, i suspect.) is it a choice they make? you seem to think so. and now with climate chaos afoot, he, david attenborough, and jane goodall have upped their calls for the global south to depopulate. no one seems to remind them that in the developing world, carbon footprints are about a tenth of those in the developed world.

but yes: fewer kids mean more educated mums, so they can become part of the capitalist machine. sorry to be so bitter, but i've been watching this version of the 'the white man's burden' for too long now, and i do object to it.

he's also selling digital currency demonetization globally as he did in india.

it was RFK, jr who had linked to the TED talk; i never watched. the standards are: reblogging, but keeping hyperlinks in tact, etc. i'd only included the kiro7 hyperlink.

but as to your Q, this from researchgate you may have missed? i'm tired and am getting more confused than normal.

In 1993, WHO announced a “birth-control vaccine” for “family planning”. Published research shows that by 1976 WHO researchers had conjugated tetanus toxoid (TT) with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) producing a “birth-control” vaccine. Conjugating TT with hCG causes pregnancy hormones to be attacked by the immune system. Expected results are abortions in females already pregnant and/or infertility in recipients not yet impregnated. Repeated inoculations prolong infertility. Currently WHO researchers are working on more potent anti-fertility vaccines using recombinant DNA. WHO publications show a long-range purpose to reduce population growth in unstable “less developed countries”. By November 1993 Catholic publications appeared saying an abortifacient vaccine was being used as a tetanus prophylactic.

In November 2014, the Catholic Church asserted that such a program was underway in Kenya. Three independent Nairobi accredited biochemistry laboratories tested samples from vials of the WHO tetanus vaccine being used in March 2014 and found hCG where none should be present. In October 2014, 6 additional vials were obtained by Catholic doctors and were tested in 6 accredited laboratories. Again, hCG was found in half the samples.

Subsequently, Nairobi’s AgriQ Quest laboratory, in two sets of analyses, again found hCG in the same vaccine vials that tested positive earlier but found no hCG in 52 samples alleged by the WHO to be vials of the vaccine used in the Kenya campaign 40 with the same identifying batch numbers as the vials that tested positive for hCG. Given that hCG was found in at least half the WHO vaccine samples known by the doctors involved in administering the vaccines to have been used in Kenya, our opinion is that the Kenya “anti-tetanus” campaign was reasonably called into question by the Kenya Catholic Doctors Association as a front for population growth reduction.

and i take it that you'd never read my link to black racist eugenicist margaret sanger, who'd created planned parenthood?

@CB

sterilization/contraception has been researched since the 1980's. There have been allegations over the years of of this "feature" being surreptitiously incorporated into other, usually tetanus, vaccines. Most recent case was Kenya 2014 IIRC.

From Vaccine Weekly, 1995:

Tetanus vaccine may be laced with anti-fertility drug. International / developing countries.
[No authors listed]
Abstract
PIP:
A priest, president of Human Life International (HLI) based in Maryland, has asked Congress to investigate reports of women in some developing countries unknowingly receiving a tetanus vaccine laced with the anti-fertility drug human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). If it is true, he wants Congress to publicly condemn the mass vaccinations and to cut off funding to UN agencies and other involved organizations. The natural hormone hCG is needed to maintain pregnancy. The hormone would produce antibodies against hCG to prevent pregnancy. In the fall of 1994, the Pro Life Committee of Mexico was suspicious of the protocols for the tetanus toxoid campaign because they excluded all males and children and called for multiple injections of the vaccine in only women of reproductive age. Yet, one injection provides protection for at least 10 years. The Committee had vials of the tetanus vaccine analyzed for hCG. It informed HLI about the tetanus toxoid vaccine. HLI then told its World Council members and HLI affiliates in more than 60 countries. Similar tetanus vaccines laced with hCG have been uncovered in the Philippines and in Nicaragua. In addition to the World Health Organization (WHO), other organizations involved in the development of an anti-fertility vaccine using hCG include the UN Population Fund, the UN Development Programme, the World Bank, the Population Council, the Rockefeller Foundation, the US National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and Uppsala, Helsinki, and Ohio State universities. The priest objects that, if indeed the purpose of the mass vaccinations is to prevent pregnancies, women are uninformed, unsuspecting, and unconsenting victims.

In 2005 he wrote an article on mercury in vaccines and since then he has increasingly become an anti-vaxxer who accepts and publicizes, uncritically, information that ranges from suspect to downright nuts. @Roy Blakeley he's been a solid hard worker on the environment and river water quality for decades and has been trying to call out the danger of big money corrupting our political system for many years. Just two major examples where he hasn't gone "nuts" or lost his critical thinking skills. Also his long hard work correcting the major legal injustice done to his cousin.

On the highly controversial vax issue, about which I know little, it's a bit unfair to sweep him neatly into the simple Anti-Vax box, as his position is he is in favor of them -- but only if they are proven safe, have gone through rigorous testing. Beyond that it is interesting he's been on this issue for 15 yrs now and has not backed down. Also interesting that he is eager to take on detractors in debate -- but in the 2 hr video cited elsewhere here, he notes that his fierce critics usually boldly talk the talk but then arrange not to show up for a scheduled debate, even an unfair, stacked one. As with his example of the CT lege-arranged debate featuring 5 Yale scientists going up against him who agreed then failed to show.

On his very strong, specific charges against Gates: if not true, or essentially so, where is the BG defamation lawsuit?

God is silent, Gates talks ... I prefer God.

After having read through the essay (you put a lot of work into it, brava) I have just two questions. Here or in the German press or TV they explained they take a certain virus at a certain point in time and build a vaccine on the basis of that specific virus' chemical? or biochemical? structure. Within the time they finisih developing the vaccine, the original virus upon which the developed their vaccine, had mutated at least three to six times. How would that vaccine be helpful, as it would kill just one virus variant /version of all mutations that are out there. I am not an anti-vaxxer, but would be very sceptical about the vaccine they would develop.

They can't even exactly know, how many people have been infected, nor do they know, if those who got infected and developed symptoms and are treated and survived, why they survived and what caused the increase of their survival probability.

How would they then ever know, when 'the pandemic' has ended?

Too late and tired to get into the science stuff. We are drown in covid-19 reports every day and the overall answer is: 'We don't know that for sure though'. I guess not knowing for sure would mean, so far we have nothing much to offer.

i may be the least knowledgeable person to know, but we hear so much news every single day that it's hard to know who or what to trust from 'the experts'. the mutations are demonstrated, iirc, by gene sequencing, but as a layman, i'd need to ask for which adaption would/could a vaccine be efficacious and safe as well. but ramping up factories, testing later seems crazy to me.

Millions of people across Europe are set to embrace a relaxation of stay-at-home rules on Monday, as countries around the world plot their way tentatively through the coronavirus crisis.

Countries set to lift lockdown measures as world’s Covid-19 cases surpass 4 million

The number of coronavirus cases worldwide topped four million as some of the hardest-hit countries readied Sunday to lift lockdown restrictions, despite concerns about a second wave of infections.

Governments around the world are trying to stop the spread of the disease while scrambling for ways to relieve pressure on their economies, which are facing a historic downturn with millions pushed into unemployment.

@mimi Antibodies bind to small regions of proteins that have been given the name epitope. A vaccine would typically stimulate the production of many different antibodies that would bind to many different epitopes. A mutation that altered a single amino acid within a protein would usually alter a single epitope. Many other antibodies would recognize other epitopes and other proteins, so there would likely be good protection. Not all epitopes are of the same consequence, however, antibodies against the spike region of SARS-CoV-2 would be particularly valuable in preventing infection because the spikes bind to the ACE2 receptor, thus preventing viral uptake by receptor-mediated endocytosis. Mutations in the spike protein might be more problematic than others, assuming they do not reduce binding to the ACE2 receptor. Simple answer: a good vaccine should still work even if a few mutations occur.

@mimi
A vaccine may protect against several similar types of a virus even if the virus has mutated to some slightly different forms.

If the virus has mutated quite a bit a vaccine may keep someone from having a serious case even though they do get infected and get a mild illness. The immune system of the vaccinated person has learned to recognize the original virus but is not as fast at destroying the new mutated version of the virus.

We may need to have a new, slightly different version of the vaccine every year or two for the same reason that we need flu vaccines every year.

This new virus is very similar to the virus that caused the SARS epidemic in 2003 and there has been a lot of research since that time on coronaviruses. Experts on SARS have quickly started to understand more about how this virus works.

The 2003 SARS epidemic was stopped before much research could be done to find the best treatments, but physicians and researchers around the world are working on ending this epidemic. Hundreds of papers are being posted every day.

There are over 100 clinical trials proposed or started for various types of vaccines against this virus. Until there is a vaccine available we need to use testing and contact tracing. These are proven ways to minimize the number of people who get infected.

I hope the US can learn from the things that countries like Korea, New Zealand and Germany are doing and start to decrease the tragic loss of so many of our citizens.

This new virus is very similar to the virus that caused the SARS epidemic in 2003 and there has been a lot of research since that time on coronaviruses. Experts on SARS have quickly started to understand more about how this virus works.

Genomic analysis shows that SARS1 is 70.4% similar genetically to SARS2--this is similar, but I would not say very similar.

Bat-CoV-RaTG13 shares 97% genomic similarity. Source: Peak Prosperity's Dr. Chris Martensen, PhD pathology.

@Alligator Ed
Both types of virus are surrounded by a lipid membrane. Both have a spike protein used enter cells by attaching to the protein called the ACE-2 receptor. Since they both attack cells with ACE-2 receptors they cause similar types of problems for people who are infected. One pre-print says the new virus that causes Covid-19 binds about 4 times as strongly to the ACE-2 which is presumably why it is more contagious.

Both kinds of virus have positive-sense, single-stranded RNA that is copied by the same mechanism to form new viruses. The biochemistry of both types of virus is similar. Research on SARS has given a much better understanding about how this type of virus can be combated.

Microsoft's product testing model of 'throw untested shit out there and watch the customers suffer' doesn't work especially well in developing non-crappy software. When applied to human health, it becomes a model right out of the Josef Mengele school of research.

$138 Million Government Contract Will Fund Production Of 500 Million Pre-Filled COVID-19 Vaccine “Injection Devices”
May 12, 2020 by Michael Snyder

Just when you thought that things couldn’t get any stranger, two U.S. government agencies have taken things to an entirely new level. The U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services have just put out a press release that is absolutely jaw dropping, but so far hardly anyone is talking about it. According to the press release, a 138 million dollar contract has been awarded to ApiJect Systems America for two projects known as “Project Jumpstart” and “RAPID USA”. Apparently the goal of these projects is to have vast numbers of “injection devices” ready to go once a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available. The following comes directly from the official website of the Department of Defense… (Read More...)

Kissinger and for sure others as well, for the content of their comments and essays, I barely understand, but would like not to be discouraged more than necessary when I try to understand.

I appreciate all your efforts to make the science understandable to mimi-ers. I admit I would have a less stressful time to read through your comments, if scienctific language and cutesy lingo wouldn't be mixed together for the purpose of making the whole thing more fun. To me it doesn't. I prefer something like this:

A mutation that altered a single amino acid within a protein would usually alter a single epitope. Many other antibodies would recognize other epitopes and other proteins, so there would likely be good protection. Not all epitopes are of the same consequence, however, antibodies against the spike region of SARS-CoV-2 would be particularly valuable in preventing infection because the spikes bind to the ACE2 receptor, thus preventing viral uptake by receptor-mediated endocytosis. Mutations in the spike protein might be more problematic than others, assuming they do not reduce binding to the ACE2 receptor

Although it's hard. Reading that long sentence I decided to say, 'o shit' - how many times to reread and how many naps in between do I need?

Alligator's recommended link to this guy is hard too:
Coronavirus: Bad Science (Or Something Worse?) May Well Be Costing Lives

That the guys talks too fast and too much and needs to breathe in between sentences. At the same time, my guts tell me, that guy said something worth-while to understand. His thinking, reading and talking simultaneously hides the proof in the pudding. But the last days all of my favorite guys I listen to, start talking, and talking, and more talking and forget to breathe once in a while. Saufz.

Sigh, who would have thought that my favorite children book's author Erich Kästner is right. He once said:

Wird's besser, wird's schlimmer, fragt man alljährlich, Seien wir ehrlich, Leben ist immer lebensgefährlich
My own (underwhelming translation of this beautiful rhyming quote in the German language: "Does it get better, does it gets worse, you ask yearly, let's face it, life is always life-threatening surely."

Life-threatening risks - why torture your brain about them - we die anyway.

May be an antidot to too much worrying is the Sartre's play that wonders about how awful it would be if we were immortal. (I think the play was called in English: "Being and Nothingness". I have forgotten if it was this one. As a fourteen year old I had to give a presentation in class of that play, and it was a huge flop. The class fell asleep and I kinda was upset that nobody seemed to have gotten the point of that play.

Reminds me of what is happening now talking about covid-19's risk. Shok

I love you all, no matter what you say, how you say it and how awfully wrong or right you may be. Luckily one day I will be dead and don't have to think anymore. Preved

has been on the story...

The fact that so many heads of state, health ministers and media commentators are dutifully echoing Gates’ pronouncement about the need for a vaccine will not be surprising to those who saw last week’s exploration of How Bill Gates Monopolized Global Health. As we have seen, the Gates Foundation’s tentacles have penetrated into every corner of the field of public health. Billions of dollars in funding and entire public policy agendas are under the control of this man, an unelected, unaccountable software developer with no medical research experience or training.

And nowhere is Gates’ control of public health more apparent than in the realm of vaccines.

https://www.corbettreport.com/gatesvaccine/
Video or text...

What should be surprising is that this strangely specific and continuously repeated message—that we will not go “back to normal” until we get a vaccine in 18 months—has no scientific basis whatsoever. Medical researchers have already conceded that a vaccine for SARS-CoV-2 may not even be possible, pointing to the inability of researchers to develop any kind of immunization against previous coronavirus outbreaks, like SARS or MERS.

But even if such a vaccine were possible, serious concerns remain about the safety of developing, testing and delivering such an “amazing vaccine” to “the entire world” in this remarkably short timeframe. Even proponents of vaccine development openly worry that the rush to vaccinate billions of people with a largely untested, experimental coronavirus vaccine will itself present grave risks to the public.

One of these risks involves “disease enhancement.” It has been known for over a decade that vaccination for some viral infections—including coronaviruses—actually enhances susceptibility to viral infection or even causes infections in healthy vaccine recipients.

Much more at the link. He has been doing a series on Gates and the foundation.

i did get lost in the ozone looking t many of the earlier links, but gates and GAVI RFK spends time on. but let's not forget, gates is also the King of Education, even though his private charter schools core knowledge programs actually resulted in lower test cores, esp. math.

one title had reminded me of jacob levitch who did his thesis (iirc) of the 'true agenda of the gates foundation' or close to that. this is one part, although i'd featured all 4 parts last year or something:

and of course he makes money from his 'philanthropy', it's not for nothin' he invests in the firms that make products he intends to 'give away'.

he's also intended to be the King of Test the World, not just in seattle as per the RT link above, as per my last gates, schmidt, exposé, and use his smartphone apps to 'trace' others who might have been exposed. ach, it's all just too sordid.

wondering what had pinged 'DARPA vaccine' must have been from RFK's place. mmaybe they'd changed the title or lead graphic later? anyhoo: May 07, 2020, ‘COVID-19: The Spearpoint for Rolling Out a “New Era” of High-Risk, Genetically Engineered Vaccines’, childreshealthdefense.org

it's lengthy, with a chart of 20 experimental covid-19 nucleic acid vaccines, but some excerpts:

Not to be outdone, the White House has now unveiled “Operation Warp Speed”—a joint pharmaceutical-government-military effort aimed at “substantially shrinking the development time for a vaccine”—and President Trump promises one by the end of the year.

Planet-wide COVID-19 vaccination—the overt objective that has all of these players salivating in anticipation—ignores a number of irrefutable obstacles. For one, the RNA virus being targeted, SARS-CoV-2, already “has mutated into at least 30 different genetic variants.” The variants include 19 never seen before as well as “rare changes that scientists had never imagined could happen.” Knowledge about these mutations may prove useful to clinicians wanting to better tailor their COVID-19 treatments, but the proliferation of mutations makes the chances of developing an effective vaccine immensely more uncertain.

Not to worry, say the entities funded by Gates (and also the Pentagon). Scientists working in the burgeoning field of synthetic biology are confident that they can “outdo” and outsmart nature using next-generation vaccine technologies such as gene transfer and self-assembling nanoparticles—along with invasive new vaccine delivery and record-keeping mechanisms such as smartphone-readable quantum dot tattoos. Does it matter that the researchers who have been experimenting with these approaches have never been able to overcome “nasty side effects”? Apparently not. Aided and abetted by the generous Gates and military funding, high-fanfare COVID-19 vaccine planning is proceeding apace.

the pentagon i've bolded hyperlink goes to DARPA.

headings include Speed not Safety, DNA vaccines, mRNA vaccines, and Racing toward profits.

Desirous of streamlining vaccine technology still further and enabling vaccine stockpiles in an even shorter time frame, researchers began tinkering in the mid-1990s with nucleic acid vaccines, which include DNA vaccines and messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines. As a form of gene therapy, both represent a significant departure from classical vaccines. Whereas the latter introduce a vaccine antigen to produce an immune response, nucleic acid vaccines instead send the body instructions to produce the antigen itself. As one researcher explains, the nucleic acids “cause the cells to make pieces of the virus,” with the goal being that the immune system then “mounts a response to those pieces of the virus.”

Researchers quickly learned that both the DNA and mRNA vaccine options have serious downsides, and as a result, vaccines of this type have never been licensed. Nonetheless, almost one-fourth (20/83) of the vaccines listed by the World Health Organization as COVID-19 “candidate vaccines” as of April 23—including two of the leading contenders—are DNA (Inovio) or mRNA (Moderna) vaccines (see table).

‘The Real Agenda of the Gates Foundation’ by Jacob Levich, March, 2019, wd (some excerpts)

The Gates Foundation exercises power not only via its own spending, but more broadly through an elaborate network of “partner organizations” including non-profits, government agencies, and private corporations. As the third largest donor to the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO), it is a dominant player in the formation of global health policy.14 It orchestrates vast elaborate public-private partnerships – charitable salmagundis that tend to blur distinctions between states, which are at least theoretically accountable to citizens, and profit-seeking businesses that are accountable only to their shareholders. For example, a 2012 initiative aimed at combatting neglected tropical diseases listed among its affiliates USAID, the World Bank, the governments of Brazil, Bangladesh, UAE et al., and a consortium of 13 drug firms comprising the most notorious powers in Big Pharma, including Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, and Pfizer.15
[...]
III.Gates and Big Pharma

Guinea pigs for the drugmakers

Despite annual revenues approaching $1 trillion, the global pharmaceutical industry has lately experienced a critical decline in the rate of profit, for which it lays most of the blame on regulatory requirements. A US think tank has estimated the cost of new drug development at $5.8 billion per drug, of which 90 per cent is incurred in Phase III clinical trials mandated by the US Food and Drug Administration and similar agencies in Europe.41 (These are tests administered to large groups of human subjects in order to confirm the effectiveness and monitor the side effects of new vaccines and other medicines.) The international business consulting firm McKinsey & Company called the situation “dramatic” and urged Big Pharma executives to “envision responses that go well beyond simply tinkering with the cost base” – primarily the relocation of clinical trials to emerging markets, where drug safety testing is seen as relatively cheap, speedy, and lax.42
[...]
It is in this specific context that BMGF’s intervention in the distribution of certain vaccines and contraceptives must be seen. Heavily invested in Big Pharma,43 the Foundation is well positioned to facilitate pharmaceutical R&D strategies tailored to the realities of the developing world, where “[t]o speed the translation of scientific discovery into implementable solutions, we seek better ways to evaluate and refine potential interventions—such as vaccine candidates—before they enter costly and time-consuming clinical trials.”44 In plain language, BMGF promises to assist Big Pharma in its efforts to circumvent Western regulatory regimes by sponsoring cut-rate drug trials in the periphery.”

from part IV. A Broader Agenda

“Behind BMGF’s coordinated interventions in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, population control, and other putatively philanthropic concerns lies a broader agenda. In a recent interview Bill Gates briefly strayed off-message to warn of “huge population growth in places where we don’t want it, like Yemen and Pakistan and parts of Africa.”77 His use of the majestic plural here is revealing: in spite of much rhetoric about “empowering poor people,” the Foundation is fundamentally concerned with reshaping societies in the context of ruling-class imperatives.

“In a 2010 public lecture, Bill Gates attributed global warming to “overpopulation” and touted zero population growth as a solution achievable “[i]f we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, and reproductive health services.”94 The argument is disingenuous: As Gates certainly knows, the poor people who are the targets of his campaigns are responsible for no more than a tiny percentage of the environmental damage that underlies climate change. The economist Utsa Patnaik has demonstrated that when population figures are adjusted to account for actual per capita demand on resources, e.g., fossil fuels and food, the greatest “real population pressure” emanates not from India or Africa, but from the advanced countries.95 The Gates Foundation is well aware of this imbalance and works not to redress it but to preserve it – by blaming poverty not on imperialism but on unrestrained sexual reproductionin places where we don’t want it.”
