This pretty much speaks for itself...

From the Detroit News:

Democrats Plan to Censure Lawmaker Who Credited Trump for COVID-19 Recovery

Detroit Democrats plan to vote to censure and bar any future endorsements of a Democratic lawmaker who credited President Donald Trump with advocating for the drug that she said cured her of COVID-19.
State Rep. Karen Whitsett, D-Detroit, broke protocol by meeting with President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence during an April 14 meeting of COVID-19 survivors, during which she credited hydroxychloroquine for saving her life.

Now *some* people might look on the story of a black, female legislator saved from death by a Muslim physician's decision to use an inexpensive non-fully-vetted treatment and having the woman thus saved go on to devote her efforts to helping those in need in her constituency to be, well, uplifting or noble or something. Just chock-full of diversity wonderfulness.

Apparently, that all goes out the window if you say something nice to or about the Orange Man...

FWIW - Rep. Whitsett, the censuree, says she is not leaving the Democratic Party.

Sure wouldn't blame her if she *did*, though.

from both of our barely distinguishable parties. Breaking ranks to voice a “thank you” for being alive is not one of them, at least for me.

Humanist voices need to be among those who pick up the pieces and begin to rebuild a sustainable future. The last thing I would wish for is party allegiance to continue to supersede reason, compassion and gratitude. Rep. Whitsett may be foreshadowing a more hopeful future that does not put party first, above all else.

This crap makes about as much sense as mania over sports teams. It is red team vs blue team. I am not an advocate of hydroxychloroquine + azithromycin, but it deserved study. One gets the feeling that people afflicted with Trump derangement syndrome would rather have people die than have Trump be right about anything, and this person does not deserve to be removed from the Democratic party for saying that hydroxychloroquine was helpful to her.

BTW on a medical note, the cardiovascular effects of COVID-19 are just beginning to be noted. Hydroxychloroquine appears to increase the frequency of death due to cardiovascular problems. However, hydroxychloroquine has been used for decades, and the safety profile is well-understood. COVID-19 has very significant cardio-vascular effects (notably strokes but maybe additional problems) and they may be exacerbated by hydroxychloroquine.

@Roy Blakeley

Some European studies have found that hydroxychloroquine treatment is of value only when administered early in the course of the disease, e.g. as soon as diagnosed and if symptoms aren't severe yet. Waiting until hospitalization results in much less positive outcomes. (Naturally, the US studies were done on severely ill, hospitalized patients....)

There is no justice. There can be no peace.

of very sick people recover from the virus. It is certainly possible that a person taking hydroxychloroquin would be among those who recover. If I drink a chocolate milkshake every day during the virus and recover, I wouldn't proclaim that the chocolate milkshake was responsible for my recovery.
