Quell surprise: Dems still keeping their 'powder dry'

See the tweets highlighted here and how even the Blue Check Twits are calling out democrats for absolutely caving once again and getting nothing that will help main stream Americans. I would think that after watching Pelosi caving for 15 and doing nothing to stand in the way of the republicans people would finally wake the hell up and see that it's not a cave, but an intentional working with the republicans to move the country further right and further into an all out oligarchy. I see, you see it, others see it, but guess where saying that the dems “folded” again is a total sellout of Pelosi's great bonifides of being ........? And doing so hurts the progressive cause.

The rest of us are getting tired of hearing “the Democrats folded” every time they have to cut a deal because they don’t control the entire government.

Democrats have enough votes in the senate to have blocked the bill from cloture and the house has enough votes to hold up the bill until the things that they say are important to them are included in the bill. And again I will point out that whenever a dem president is in the WH the republicans can always put a hold on the bill with JUST ONE DAMN VOTE, but democrats have never used this option once since Bush going forward that I can recall. You can rant all you want about how bad this bill would be, but unless you stand firm then it's just a worthless rant. Period.

Democrats didn't get funding for the post office? Well you can just do your part and buy stamps from them. Do you part. And yes there are some saying it is the voters fault that democrats did this because people didn't get out to vote for them. Hmmm... I kinda remember when they held all 3 branches of government and still didn't do jack shit. But of course there is always the next bill right? Nope. McConnell has said that it is time to slow things down and take a look at just how much debt the country is in. Oy!

As for those in Congress who refuse to vote for a bill with provisions they don’t like: if they are the ones raising the most money you can bet it doesn’t come from mom and pop constituents. It comes from the oligarchs who run this country.

Bernie has managed grassroots fundraising unimagined before his campaigns. Yet he can never get the nomination, because the oligarchs oppose his policies. They make it sound personal, that he too gruff, too disheveled, too angry. What he is, is too representative of the 99%. That’s it.

Get mad maybe. Be sad, definitely.

Bernie laid down even before the 2016 primary had taken its first dump. Secret agreement with H. Rodent Clinton to "not antagonize" Her Heinousness. Didya know that? Ask Jimmie Dore about this Ribbentrop-Molotov Secret Pact. Viscount Bernard of Burlington sent his faithful emissary Nina "I'm Not Tina" Turner to negotiate with Killary's chief assistant political assassin, Donna "Wounded Buffalo" Brazile to smooth out the abdication in return for allowing the Viscount to keep a large share of the loot, known as his campaign contributions.

Apparently both parties approved $10 billion funding for USPS in the first stimulus but Trump and Mnuchin refused to sign the bill w/that in it. Republicans have wanted to privatize it for years. In 2006, Congress mandated USPS pay $5 billion/year into its retirement fund. What will stop someone like Romney from buying it, once it’s privatized, and stripping it of all its assets including that retirement fund?

Of course it would help if the Ds remind them of what the Rs are about to do to the USPS. But, being Ds, they are too busy hiding, cowering and fearing being seen as partisan in this difficult time. Or any other time.

Sorry to hijack for a moment, but this has been bugging me... Recently I've taken to watching Rising every morning, and every day she's wearing something new. Do they have a deal with some designer where they get revenue for product placement?

Back on topic, right now I'd settle for Bernie/AOC/whoever flexing their muscles on just one thing. One. I don't even care what it is, but maybe once they see it working, they will keep it up, like Saager said for the Freedumb Caucus.

@Hawkfish has spoken out forcefully against the pathetic 3.5 interim piece of nothing. Has Bernie said anything?

Haven't heard from AOC's other progressive colleagues. What's the point of a Progressive Caucus?

As for Krystal, she can wear what she wants, but I wish she would tone down her girlish giggling, and also not be so eager to always agree with her conservative colleague. I realize they don't want this to be The Hill's Crossfire, but seems to me there's way too much agreeing going on. Makes for rather predictable, dull political analysis. And 90% of the air time is agreeing on bashing Ds. Much to agree on there, I would agree. But in the current time, couldn't they carve out a few more minutes to go after Trump and Mitch too, the ones actually running the country into the ground?

As for this..

But in the current time, couldn't they carve out a few more minutes to go after Trump and Mitch too, the ones actually running the country into the ground?

I think that is a given that republicans are bad and won't do anything to help us. It's just people still believe that democrats are the same party that they were before they became Reagan democrats and especially after the Clintons whored the party out to the Koch brothers and the DLC and that one day they will stand against the republicans. Hint...I don't think they will.

What's the point of a Progressive Caucus?

Good question. I don't remember when they did anything that went against Pelosi's wishes. Same with the black progressive caucus. I remember one of the last times they stood up for blacks and that was when Bush stole Florida.
Imagine if democrats worked as hard standing against republicans as they did beating Bernie? Now there's a concept huh?

But I saw a tweet that said she has a PAC that has $447,000 and she paid herself $174,000. I have no idea if this is true though.

Before democrats voted for the bill McConnell had told them that he is not only done doing bills, but he said states should declare bankruptcy. And they still voted for it. People really need to stop being surprised by this. McConnell is not only done voting on giving away money to those who don't need it, he is also going to get back to getting unqualified right wing judges on the federal courts. I'm sure that Schumer will once again roll over and let him. Remember he let him fast track 15 judges just so other democrats could get home to fundraise for their reelections.

“We fought so hard to win back the House in 2018 — to make sure that we had a voice in negotiations like this.

And still the centrists are blaming the voters for not coming out and giving them the senate. BTW we let Obama down, not he let us down.

AOC just announced that she is backing Biden. I know that any senator can block a bill from being voted on, but know if there is a procedure in the house that does the same thing? This means that Bernie could have blocked the senate bill, but he did not. He didn't even bother standing up and ranting about it this time. Oh well it might be because he's too busy fundraising for the DNC and talking about why his supporters are losers if they don't vote for Biden.

But poor AOC stood alone in not voting for it. The rest of the squad and Warren did. Guess we all need to get busy and get more and better democrats elected so then they can start being the party people still think they are. Not here....but...

Some dimwit posted a tweet saying that just because Biden has Larry Summers on his economic team that progressives are being purists and saying that this is why they won't vote for Biden.

Summers helped passed Clinton's bank deregulation of glass steagel and he was on ByeDone's and MyBoss' cat food commission so I'd think the blame should be on Summers and ByeDone instead because they are telling us that it's he is going to continue business as usual.

Do you mean that Trump is not a warmonger since he hasn't started any new wars and especially the last one on Israel's wish list Iran. IF so I agree that he has stood against the most vile warmongers in his cabinet such as Bolton, Pompeo and ..oh the one who quit after Trump said he was pulling the troops out of Syria.

However he has continued the Bush/Obama wars and has actually made them more deadly by relaxing the rules of engagement. Jimmy Dore had a graphic recently that showed how many bombs Bush, Obama and Trump have dropped during their tenures. Bush was in the 70,000, Obama 100,000 and Trump is at 73,000 just 3 years into his.

However again, Trump is doing economic warfare by placing crushing sanctions of Iran, Venezuela and one other that has slipped my mind. A few years ago we heard that 40,000 Venezuelans had died because of them. How high is that number now?

I don't think it would matter who is president anymore if it ever did because the war machine is stuck on auto pilot and even if the president said No more wars, the CIA, the Pentagon and the Foggy Bottom folks are still going to do what they want. We saw that in Syria during one of the cease fires where the CIA group of AQ attacked the Pentagon group of AQ.

the only way for progressives to take power is to take it away from the Democratic Party by withholding our votes.

Yay. I agree. Democrats might be happy to play second fiddle to the republicans, but if no one even votes for them they won't get to even play fiddle at all. Pelosi and other aged democrats will be ok, but there are a lot of very young people in congress that haven't had time to build up their war chests. Want our vote? Earn it.

Last night on Jimmy's live show, Chris Hedges did an even better job explaining why voting for Biden is a mistake. Should come out as an edited clip in the near future.

I wonder about "Rising" with the slick studio and fancy clothes. I do like their perspective for the most part, and perhaps they are more palatable to the public than firebrands like Jimmy. Aaron Mate' is an excellent model of a journalist. He won last year's Izzy award. (Matt Taibbi won this year).

I looked this morning for the Hedges interview, but it hasn't posted yet. Hopefully someone will post it when it comes out. Have you seen the one Jimmy did on the lines for food banks? Just beyond disgusting that congress chose not to help us little people. I don't know if there is a word for what they are doing. Boomer genocide is one. Undesirable genocide is another.
