How would you like to handle the paper? They'll still have to handle it and drive through will be a bitch but I can understand the cutting down on face to face.
Although I'm against a totally cashless transaction system, It's all I'll be using for the forseeable future. Should be a breeze as I've only been out once in the past week.
Everybody just needs to slow down. Life will go on......for most.

@Pricknick

          I have been doing this for about four decades, but that's because I know how the system actually works. And I like my friends at the Credit Union.

          Stay safe, and we will see you on the other side.

still open with reduced hours. If that changes we'll figure something out. I, too, like the people at the credit union...except for maybe one guy who acts like he has too much bank experience.

For the time being we're cutting back on using physical money so we don't need the ATM. What a world!

Is that you can’t give money to beggars. I know some Scandinavian countries have electronic alms systems, but ‘murica - that bastion of technological whizz-bangery - doesn’t have such a system. I actually got into an argument with a family member today about paying cash for something in a coffee shop. I wanted to break a $20 for alms change but they wanted to pay $5 and put the change in the tip jar. What a messed up choice!

@QMS

          That was one of the first things discussed this last year. If we could get the post office BACK into the game, we would be getting on a fast track to transforming our monetary system.

          But change is so scary if it doesn't fit into our preconceptions.

There's the addled fellow with his dog, the ex-heroin user who has no job skills at 60, the artist with a prosthetic left foot (and not a very good one, either), the guy who always asks for 80 cents, and others.

We used to give them a dollar, sometimes two. Now I look to see if I've got a fiver in my pocket. I'm thinking of occasionally going to twenty. As one said to me yesterday "there are fewer people walking the streets now".

Trump is pushing chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) as both curative and possibly preventive. Fauci pushes back. He is trying to test the drugs in a scientific double-blinded randomized controlled study (RCTS). This is indeed the gold standard to ascertain efficacy and safety in new drug uses, even if the drug is already in use for other indications.

But, in this time of looming economic disaster, let us for the moment disregard Fauci's dire protestations. Suppose your house is on fire. The fire department comes to your flaming abode and inquires of the owner: do you think this structure could withstand the application of our high-powered water pumps or do you think it would damage the structure?

After the owner regains composure, he blurts out: "spray the goddam place! If the water knocks down the house, the outcome won't be worse than letting the fire consume it".

This article says it better than I can. The title is the only thing I'll quote:

Bernie suspended too soon. There is no leadership. There will be bipartisan blood on their hands.
