I have learned to be disappointed in humans. The fact is Reality makes a point of reminding me (all too often) that most people are incapable of distinguishing between Blue pill reality and Red pill Reality. This inability of humans, to distinguish social constructs from the Real World, is the root cause of our problems today. Far too few (even some c99p participants) refuse to reflect upon the words that Socrates might have said, "The unexamined life is not worth living."
The fact that these idiots are doing this is profoundly reprehensible.
If I were to report that I have a PhD because my dissertation committee held a prayer meeting to have God bless the proceedings. I think most listeners would have a rather unfavorable opinion regarding such a revelation. Yet I know individuals that do this sort of shit all the time.
BTW, if what I have written offends then:
Enya is one of the best, in my humble opinion. At one time (long ago, and far away, in a parallel …) I was on the path to be a musician.

pray away the stupid!
The gay is here to stay. I'm with you when you try to pray away the stupid.

They're praying:
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

easy to sail to a nice island, hard to sail away from a nice
island. Feels like being trapped on an island.
Hugs.

if we had a 'Black House' instead of a 'White House' we wouldn't even have to close the curtains to not see the BS behind . Being in the dark would be a bliss. Take care.

Can the human species survive?
It seems unlikely. Biomes survive because a wide variety of species exist within it to create stability. There is a negative correlation between intelligence and survival period of a species. Evolution has had plenty of opportunity with large brain mammals to select for higher intelligence. But that runs contrary to species survival. Once you venture into dominant intelligence you immediately have a huge gap. You are no longer part of a stable biome. The missing part is wisdom and imperative to be a positive player in whatever habitat you find yourself. It really looks like H.Sapiens will be a 100,000+ year flash in pan. It doesn't look like humans can bridge the gap, it's a phomenally difficult task. We certainly will never get there if we stick to prejudices and the supernatural. Some of us see this clearly but we can't bridge culture and greed. If in the distant future evolution tries to evolve another intelligent species it will have to approach evolution from a different path.
Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.
There is hope ...
The best science fiction (speculative fiction, or whatever you want to call Red pill Reality prognosticatory fiction) is actually written by some of the best scientists, using pseudonyms and trusted agents.
From the start, these people have been exploring the very questions to which you refer. It is clear that there is a way, but most people are not positioned to understand why (and most important how) they need to change the way they think.
Each of us is doing what we can, from (until recently) occupying positions in agencies like the EPA, and CDC, through explaining the dangers (but most importantly the promises) of AI (this is a real big one), to simply teaching non-specialist to take QM seriously (believe it or not this is the most accessible of the esoterica needed to get us moving in the right direction, and probably why most people have no interest, sigh).
I doubt I will live long enough to see the fruits of my labors, but so far the trip is exhilarating.
