Bush-era Iraq war authorization voted out by US House.
It's about f*ken time. Thanks Barbra.
The bill was one of two pieces of legislation passed by the House on Thursday aimed at curbing Trump’s warmaking powers.
And as a reminder what democracy looks like...
Though both bills passed the Democrat-controlled House, they will likely be shot down in the Republican-held Senate, or vetoed by Trump if they make it to his desk.

Repeal the 2002 AUMF? Good, but that still leaves the 2001 AUMF,
the PATRIOT Act, the Military Commissions Act, and the NDAAs annulling habeas corpus and, under Obama, legalizing domestic propaganda against the American populace.
And it only passed the House
It still has to pass the Senate.

Don't forget
We've got this stupid (not to mention suspiciously convenient and conspicuously inconsistent) idea that punishing the guilty is a desire unworthy of pursuing, but I'd bet good money that would have a measurable beneficial effect on discourse, morale, rates of violence, and even general intellectual functioning in both the US and the Middle East. The shadow will remain hungry until it finds that which cast it.

Yes Virginia, there is a Global Banking Conspiracy!
They know it's not going to become law.

Now repeal the Patriot Act
At least the DINOs can look like they're on our side.
Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.
If I could...

I got an E-mail regarding this
Mitch's ugly face may've immediately soiled my thoughts, but I was nonetheless very happy to see this...and this is politics; it'll be a miracle if it makes it past the Senate, but this is not for nothing!

Aw, ain't that nice.
And meaningless. OTOH, cutting off funding in the NDAA, along with adding these amendments, would be something that could actually go through, if the House Democrats weren't so wrapped up in kowtowing to the MIC and the U.S. global war machine. Instead, they add excellent amendments, then completely collapse when the Senate rips them all out and sends it back.
Oh. So it was just kabuki, the ordinary virtue-signalling.
I was wondering where the usual hypocrisy had gone to. You know, the part where we talk about what an existential threat Trump is--maybe even the pawn of a foreign power!--before we give him expanded military budgets and surveillance powers. Why would we do that? Because.
I was wondering why the Democrats were acting like they had genuine values that weren't authoritarian and vicious. Then you reminded me that obviously, this has no chance of becoming law. So why not posture for a while?
