My one Rec on TOS (is that the right term?) when I first started to write again. It was a beginning.

Thank you for the encouraging words - to friends at dkos and to friends at caucus99percent - during the past couple of years.

My lesson from this unexpected situation: we can make it - we have to.

The spirit of party serves to enfeeble the Public Administration,
agitates with Jealousies and false alarms, and opens the door to corruption,
which finds access to the government itself through the channels of party passions.
George Washington

I appreciate your comments.

Strange that a harp of thousand strings should keep in tune so long

"The “jumpers” reminded us that one day we will all face only one choice and that is how we will die, not how we will live." Chris Hedges on 9/11

It usually takes a situation to unlock the hero inside. Besides, the role of "hero" pays: less? more? about the same? compared to the role of "saint" -grin-

A. Can you tell how welcome you are here?

B. What is your measure of progress?

C. Do you mind if we pick your brain and pester you about your experiences?

D. From what part of this flat earth do you hail?

In the previous Midnight Mulling edition, there was a chance to use the "Unordered list" (just above the word, "there" - at least during the writing part); now here is a chance to use the "Ordered list."

  1. As welcome as I had hoped, i.e. better than the usual. "Uncomfortable" is a word I've been using lately - at least in thought. I have to do most of the work in a 'scene.' And that is how it is. Not being a martyr or a victim here - but for me, communication is hard work. And when the other party is made to feel uncomfortable, the 'smallness' of talk turns into something more weighty. Sometimes, I miss the small-talk.
  1. This 'essay' has been a visit to my writing as of December, 2013. The Midnight Mulling series has been composed mostly of words, and the words from the readers. My 2016 words (and words from readers) can be compared to the 2013 words from me (and words from dkos commenters). That is a comparison of my words, and a comparison of words of readers: i.e. the intended meaning (from me) and the expressed understanding (from the readers - in comments). No scientific study; but it gives me a rough understanding.
  1. Go ahead.

And I guess that's not how to use the Unordered list function. So here's a key:

A.
B.
C.
D.
