Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Lame questions, letting the low pollers eat up too much time, ignoring Bernie, giving Warren all the opportunities.

@snoopydawg The guy who runs Kos is a piece of crap. Rampant censorship on his site of those who expressed contrary or dissenting views -- he and his minions banned me and at least six others who posted positive diaries in support of Tulsi from commenting on the supposedly "open discussion" forums on his site. He runs this "Straw Poll" every 2-3 weeks, but when he doesn't like the results (like when Yang outpolled their preferred candidate, Warren), he changed the results to make Warren the winner. No better than the fascist South American dictators supported by the MIC and the CIA.

Absolutely toxic over there - their censorship would put Facebook/Twitter/Youtube/Google to shame yet they are forever whining about the dire situation of independent media when trying to hit you up for $$.

When they ban someone they disappear their offending comments and responses, too - so it appears that no controversy ever existed nor unauthorized ideas expressed...

Guess Kos learned something from his El Salvador experiences...

Although I exited the Great Orange Swamp voluntarily, on my last foray to GOS 3 years ago: all my diaries were gone. Very thorough, Moosetits. That software CIA loaned you comes in handy, huh?

@Blue Republic One of the things that got me in trouble over there (and eventually bo'joed) was pointing out Harris' dismal record in dealing with allegations of priest abuse of minors and the cover-up by the Catholic Church. Here's what real a aggressive prosecutor should have done and is doing now, albeit a bit belatedly for some:

https://www.legalreader.com/california-becerra-catholic-church-child-sex...

The current Califonia AG, Becerra, Harris' successor in the post, is asking for records from 12 dioceses going back to 1996, covering Harris' time as AG as well as DA in SF, where the late Cardinal Levada was reportedly involved in a cover-up of the priest child abuse scandals.

I'd say Kamala was lucky that Tulsi didn't hit her on this in the July debate, but keep in mind the moderators cut her off after 60 seconds or so, and it was such a long litany of criminal justice/injustice issues to cover (and by the way, I'm wondering how long it will take the State to complete the DNA testing ordered by Gov. Newsom in the Cooper case back in Feb. -- maybe it gets delayed until after Kamala is knocked out of the race?)

TULSI GABBARD: That our Democratic Party, unfortunately, is not the party that is of, by, and for the people. It is a party that has been, and continues to be, influenced by the foreign policy establishment in Washington, represented by Hillary Clinton and others’ foreign policy. By the military industrial complex and other greedy corporate interests.

Gabbard continued to talk about the need to change our foreign policy of “regime change wars,” as well as building up infrastructure at home. But it was the opening part of the statement that Sen. Kamala Harris was responding to when asked if she had something to say about Gabbard’s opinion of the Democratic Party.

SEN. KAMALA HARRIS: I think that it's unfortunate that we have someone on this stage who is attempting to be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States, who during the Obama administration spent four years full-time on Fox News criticizing president Obama. Who has been full-time criticizing people on this stage as affiliated with the Democratic Party. When Donald Trump was elected, not even sworn in, buddied up to Steve Bannon to get a meeting with Donald Trump in the Trump Tower. Fails to call a war criminal but what he is as a war criminal, and then spends full-time during the course of this campaign, again, criticizing the Democratic Party.

From what I understand Tulsi went to talk to Trump about the Syrian war, but for dawg's sake people from both parties have served in every administration. Gates who Obama let continue being head of DHS (?) or some other department was a republican. I read that that department had a republican head for a very long time. Sorry I can't quite tie this up better, but there is no rule that says what Tulsi did was wrong.

And someone in NKH's essay said that after the debate Harris spoke to someone on Fox Snooze. Obama himself went on Fox and no one blinked an eye then. If you're running for president then why wouldn't you want to talk to people who watch tv regardless of the medium? At least Tulsi wasn't hiding her talks on YouTube like Obama did when he was spanking congress for not helping him pass his agenda. But then he never called out the GOP during those chatty little talks now did he?

Imagine someone saying this to Hillary 3 years ago:

Fuck off Tulsi and go the fuck away! Why the fuck is she even on this stage???

Or this:

Tulsi is a lying POS.

Russia stooge. Russian asset. Working directly with Russia. Is committing treason... the list goes on.

@ppnortney In honor (if such a word can be applicable to the foreign service) state department bureaucrats, an award should be named after Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman (which is how is name is translated from his native Ukrainian). This would honor insubordinate, self-important leakers and those otherwise disparaging his commander-in-chief while on official duty. I don't like Trump but if Vindman is on active duty, his court-martial for insubordination would not be unreasonable. George Webb asserts that the Vindman twins are into arms trafficking in Ukraine and elsewhere.

Who is a plant according to Markos? Tulsi? Markos showed himself up proudly in uniform when he was a young guy and when it came to his "service" he remembered being in Germany and eating German pastry, which apparently he liked a lot. And then he liked himself in a role of a little punk. I have the pictures somewhere. So. Gimme a break. This crap has to stop one day.

At the age of 69 I'm not in a hurry to get started on needing blood pressure medication like almost all of my fellow geezers so I did what Ive done since I was a teenager, go to the pool hall and drink cheap beer (when I got old enough).
I live in Washington State in a town on the coast just twenty miles from the Canadian border and it is considered a liberal town, where in fact we just elected for mayor someone who was part of the 'occupy' movement and there is a the University but in the outlying areas tRump did very well.

However last night even with all the televisions spread around the place the bumper sticker joust wasn't on any of them, nor did I hear anyone mention anything about it.
This includes some of the young University students that I know are politically active because I've not only overheard them but because one of them approached me one night, lit like Christmas, but felt he had to tell me about all Bernie Sanders' promise to erase student debt and what that means to him and all his friends them all.

Yes there were a lot of students there last night that were not at home or a dorm watching it, so maybe it's about the very cheap drinks on Wednesday or because they weren't interested in it, or maybe it's for both reasons. Either way nothing was said about that big event on TV last night.

As for me I've missed all of the so-called 'debates' that are more like a bumper sticker contest and when I read transcripts and watch clips of the show the following days I don't regret the decision.
However if they ever did a have a real debate I might tune in but not if the people doing the 'moderating' are a group like last night, especially if it included Joe McCarthy's love child, Russia Maddow

Pardon the long rant.

@gulfgal98 @gulfgal98 I'm a huge Tulsi fan, and I really was hoping she would deliver the KO to Booty jizz just as she did in the July confrontation with Harris. The opportunity was there, too, when he raised the Assad BS and she had the comeback on Roosevelt meeting with Stalin, JFK with Khrushchev, etc. But in one of her town halls she had an even better line, i.e., "I'm willing to meet with 100 brutal dictators if it would further the cause of world peace," which would have been even more effective. Then, when Booty interrupted with his smart-ass "Trump meeting with Kim" line, she could have pivoted and said, yes, I would be willing to meet with Kim but not the way Trump mishandled the situation, i.e., by withdrawing from every other treaty (INF, Iran Nuclear deal, Paris climate) etc, so no wonder Kim didn't trust US to live up to nuclear arms deals, but unfortunately, it wasn't a home run but I think it may be enough, hopefully, for her supporters to come through and give her another 4% in a DNC "qualified" poll to make the Dec. debate stage. (Of course, kind of suspicious to see so few NH polls since she got 5-6% there a couple of weeks back.)

I need to pivot to a point I've made before, namely about how how tough it is to make these nuanced points about FP which has received little attention in these debates where everything is encapsulated in 90-sec sound bites. If one goes back to the first serious Presidential debates (Kennedy-Nixon 1960), you'd see the answers were 3 to 5 min. in length, much more time to develop a nuanced FP argument.

Also, not sure the Mexico remark was the weak Achilles heel area for Booty; to me, it's still the fact he's run a racist police Dept. in South Bend for the last 7 1/2 years plus the more recent revelation that he misrepresented support for his BS "Frederick Douglass plan." This kind of record should be disqualifying, IMHO. Of course, the people who were better positioned to do this -- Booker and Harris -- both declined to take the shot, Harris probably because, like Mayo Pete, she's part of the corporate Dem establishment, whereas for Booker, it was really his last chance as I don't see him getting the poll numbers to make the next debate.

Finally, glad to see Tulsi sticking up for a fellow anti-Establishment candidate, Yang, about the lack of equal speaking time both were allotted by the moderators. Kind of a nice return of the favor since Yang was the first Dem candidate to back her up versus the HRC smears.

@JCWeb for Tulsi, especially in front of that Atlanta audience, would have been if she had referenced Obama's line in the 2008 primary cycle about not requiring any preconditions and would meet with brutal dictators. Might have brought down the house. Certainly would have got people thinking -- Obama? Said he would meet with dictators?

Or she could have added how Nancy Pelosi went to meet with Assad in 2007, against the wishes of our FP Establishment.

Interesting how times have changed in just a decade. Now Dems run to hide behind the MIC-driven safe cold war rhetoric of faux toughness and stupidity. I don't believe half of them actually believe what they're saying, but they say it out of political cowardice.

As for Harris not going after Pete: Given her low poll numbers and Pete's high ones, she might have been thinking not to screw things up in case he needed some AA cover as his VP pick.

@wokkamile Agreed. Let me throw in a little anti-war Democrat history. In 1966 and 1967, when opposition to the Vietnam War heating up, anti-war Dems who raised the issue were largely dismissed as unpatriotic after all, it was LBJ (a Democratic President) who escalated the war. However, in 1969, when it was Nixon's war, it was then fashionable for mainstream Dems (Muskie, Mondale, even HHH) to become anti-war.

Reverse is kind of true today. In 2004 through 2008, when the Iraq War was Bush's war, it was OK for Dems to be anti-war even though it was Dem votes in 2002 that pushed through the authorization for military action. When Obama became President, the situation was more ambiguous, particularly with Clinton running the State Dept. Intervention in places like Libya and Syria were suddenly OK. Now, with Trump in charge, well if Trump starts talking about pulling troops out of Syria or initiating talks with the guy in No. Korea, then those pro-peace, anti-war like moves are not cool with the mainstream Dems. So, what we see now is more Dem party mainstream hypocrisy, and after last night's debate, I see Harris and Booty as reflecting that view, Tulsi and Bernie standing on the opposite, and Warren finding a nice fence to straddle.

@lotlizard
That Harris attacked Tulsi for having criticized Obama, slipping in a little hint that Tulsi might be a on the wrong side with regard to the racial divide.
Gabbard was asked. She said that it was very unfortunate to have a presidential candidate in Tusli, one that criticized Obame during his first years.

I remember well that I felt back then it to be difficult to criticize Obama as to not being accused of racial prejuidices. Tulsi was quite intelligent to not bite and did not say that Harris 'continues to traffick in racially insulting smears', but gracefully just said that Harris trafficks in 'lies'. I guess Harris thought Gabbard was not black enough, remembering that back in the days, people were wondering about Obama not being black enough. Now it seems as if all of the candidates are too white. Oh my, oh lord ... forgive me. /s

How 'nice' for a black woman to criticize another woman of color for criticizing a black President. May be I didn't get it right. But I think that's the last time I listen to Harris.

@mimi I stopped listening to her when she floundered around after Tulsi destroyed her criminal justice record in CA in debate #2, for which she had NO RESPONSE. To use a boxing analogy, Muhammad Ali was "the Greatest" not so much because he was he hardest puncher, but he had a good chin, he could take a punch. Debate #1, when Kamala went after Biden, she proved she could (when given the leeway of 3x the debate time limit) land a punch, but vs Tulsi, she proved she had a "glass jaw" and couldn't take a punch.

Last night, I give Bootyjizz some credit, when put under pressure from Tulsi and also on the experience question, he did some nice bobbing and weaving, but substantially, he offers nothing but platitudes and loads of mainstream Dem BS and, in my view, his background with the racist SBPD is disqualifying, and I hope voters will see through that.

@JCWeb

backfired on him big time didn't it?

"When you are commander in chief you have to meet with people whether you like them or not."

Funny how no one brings up Nancy meeting with him.

Or the pope. Or the Queen.

Or Rumsfeld meeting with Saddam. Or McCain meeting with terrorist leaders. Funny that.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@snoopydawg but here's a link to Secy. of State John Kerry having a nice dinner with the aforementioned "brutal dictator":

But of course it's different for everyone who isn't Tulsi.

@mimi was actually a great thing for our owners, wasn't it? Go against him, you're merely a racist RWNJ, support him in any way and then you are a SJW bleeding heart liberal too blinded by ID politics to see reality (which is of course in many ways true, as is the RW relentless focus on racism, those small grains of truth work against you when leveling any factually reasonable argument, so either way, our owners win that one). And the RWNJ faction had been set up decades ago so if one ever did dare criticize it almost could not help but sound like a RWNJ racist attack. Just like now if you are against Impeachment, no matter what actual real reasons you have for that disagreement, you are merely a sexist, racist, RWNJ Trump supporter. Works like a charm, doesn't it?
