No Opening Statements Allowed at Tuesday, Oct. 15 Debate

Interesting note that there will be no opening statements at Tuesday's debate:

Tulsi Says No Opening Statements

Since there will be 12 candidates on stage, this is sure to cut back on speaking time for candidates like Tulsi or Yang. They will be much more at the whim of the moderators to have any time to make a point.

@Shahryar Any question that might be hurled at Tulsi will probably require a yes / no answer and they will try like hell to hold her to that y/n - this may be the only chance for Tulsi to take the BS by the horns and just "call em' out" and that would conclude any more from Tulsi so she may as well just split after that.

@fakenews
but, I'm afraid it's her baptism by fire. she has to prove that she can run with the wolves. If she can't, she's not ready to be President. Not aginst her, but that's life. If she can handle it, great! If not, I'd like to see her seasoned by a high level appointment. SoS? And despite everything said here, I'd love Warren for Secretary of the Treasury. Maybe she is a fake progressive as some claim her, but I'm sure she has a grudge against the banks. A much better choice than the usual revolving door with Goldman-Sachs.

@The Voice In the Wilderness
Tulsi realizes that. Ironically, I think she's more capable of actually running with the wolves than most of the other Dem candidates, who would collapse in a heap if they weren't propped up and told what to do.

@Centaurea
She has a lot of uphill

1. From the House not the Senate - history of House candidates is not good
2. From a small state. New York, CA, Mass. are much better bases
3. Relatively unknown
4. anti-war - Even though a combat veteran - see George McGovern
5. non-Christian - Don't think we've ever had one (openly)
6. female - sorry, it's true because of prejudice
7. anti-establishment

2,5,7 also apply to Bernie, but Vermont is a better base than Hawaii, low-info voters don't even know it's a state. And being a Jew is more mainstream than being a Hindu. It's a tossup which is subject to more prejudice.

I think she will call them out. We'll see.

Edit to add...not to mention the NYT hit piece. Should be obvious to anyone with a brain cell or two.

Tulsi Gabbard Says She Might Skip The Democratic Debate

The fourth-term representative from Hawaii released a video vaguely accusing the media and the Democratic Party of conspiring against her.

with that headline and sub-headline we're off to a flying start.

Presidential hopeful Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) threatened to drop out of next Tuesday’s Democratic debate, claiming that the whole electoral process is rigged against her.

Gabbard, whose poll numbers have lingered around 1 percentage point since she entered the race in January, accused the Democratic National Committee and “corporate media” of “trying to hijack the election process” in a video she tweeted on Thursday.

I like the quotes around corporate media. Quotes! Because that's what she called them!! Isn't that crazy!!??

Gabbard’s announcement cribbed much of the language Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) used in 2016 when he lobbed similar accusations against the Democratic Party and the media, and Gabbard even mentioned the senator by name."

Cribbed! Like stolen! And she even mentioned him...as if unaware that she was giving herself away while cribbing! Here's what she said....the writer of the piece included it because it's so damning! And a two-fer. The writer can get in a jab at Bernie! Bernie "lobbed similar accusations...like a Molotov Cocktail!

“The 2016 Democratic Primary election was rigged by the DNC and their partners in the corporate media against Bernie Sanders,” she said, before rattling off a list of vague grievances, which she claimed have her considering dropping out of next week’s debate.

vague differences. "I wasn't paying much attention to what she said and if I had I wouldn't have understood them" is more like it.

The fourth-term U.S. representative accused unnamed people of using “polling and other arbitrary methods” to disempower voters in early voting states.

But Gabbard didn’t specify what, exactly, the DNC or media has done to corrupt the election process. And her following statement ― that the debates were meant to “entertain, rather than inform or enlighten” ― comes as she struggled to convince audiences that she could do either of the three.

unnamed people. So it must not have happened. Didn't specify what, exactly..."and I'm not going to look into it myself and now I'll say something snarky that's probably inappropriate in an article purporting to be news"

Gabbard failed to meet the polling threshold to qualify for September’s Democratic debate, and many of her policies ― particularly in the realm of international diplomacy ― have come under fire from her fellow Democratic presidential hopefuls and members of the party.

She's a loser and fellow Dems like Biden and Harris don't agree with her.

And now the closer, the winner! See the NY Times article for comparison. Talking points?

Gabbard has previously expressed seemingly tolerant views of Bashar al-Assad, the authoritarian Syrian president. And reports detailing support she has received from pro-Russia voices online have discomforted many in the party wary of the Kremlin after Russian interference in the 2016 presidential elections.

and that concludes this article. Again, for anyone looking for a balanced report this ain't it.

@Shahryar

after Russian interference in the 2016 presidential elections.

Which a long investigation couldn't find evidence of other than 42 Facebook ads, placed by Russian businessmen, not the Kremlin. Yes, they could be fronts, but it's up to the accusers to prove that.
Besides, Her used Crowdstirke so Her was a Russian mole by the same logic.

and see the Cone of Silence descend on any mention of her on corporate/DNC media, or she can attend, and have the moderators never give her a chance to speak. Like Lookout said, they’re making the point for her.

Just to rub in the propaganda - NYT changed their headline story on Tulsi from "Tulsi Gabbard says she will participate in debates" to "Tulsi Gabbard backs down and will participate in debates" - geez they just never quit. Change happened within an hour.
