Now here's an interesting Ukraine theory...

Watching Crosstalk this week. Of course the subject was impeachment. It started off with the usual back-and-forth between Rob Taub of Newsmax going full bore in favor, and Lionel repeating the question "What crimes has he done?"

Christopher Neiweem who is a GOP strategist chimed in and nearly floored me. He said for all we know the Warren campaign could be pulling the strings on this story in an underhanded way of taking down both Biden and Trump.

That theory sounds like quite a reach until you remember ... Warren's entire campaign staff came to her via Hillary's campaign and Priorities USA. So don't ask if Warren is capable of pushing this story, ask if the Clintons are.

Bonus: Also heard this week is the thought that Warren could select Hillary as her V.P.

I heard a similar theory from Stef Zamorano on the Jimmy Dore Show.
Warren names HRC as VP and wins election, President Warren then has an "accident" and, Bingo, Hillary is President at last.
Here's that edition of CrossTalk. I watched it this morning.

We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.

@Azazello
I always thought the prize was being the first woman POTUS. I think it's all in the second ballot @ the Convention.
Taking out Trump and Biden would clear the way for Warren though.
And knowing the Clinton cabal, Warren would be smart to triple her security detail.
Just sayin'.

just like failing to see where they went wrong in the last election. Except that they know that Her was a horrible candidate who offered nothing. This is just more of what the FBI did when they took it on themselves to investigate Trump to see if he had ties to Russia. Imagine that happening to Obama. Or even Bush.. or...

Intelligence community strikes back

The catalyst for impeachment is the alleged CIA whistleblower and the team of intelligence community officials he is going to bat for. Trump picked a fight with the wrong crowd. Now, they’re fighting back, with the Constitution in one hand and evidence of Trump’s corruption in the other. Game on.

You might call this team, collectively, “Deep State Throat.” They’re a deep state, all right, but not like Trump thinks. They’re not rogues. They’re patriots. Let’s just buckle up and watch how this plays out over the coming weeks and months.

To me, the whistleblower appears to have taken a leadership role, sticking his neck out to protect subordinates in the intelligence communityy while conveying their information to appropriate authorities through appropriate channels. It’s easy to see how the intelligence community inspector general steered it to the Congressional Intelligence Committees, under the cover of great credibility

Trump is a horrible president who is doing some very bad things, but this issue is not what dems should go after him for.

Did they post pics like this in any other presidency? I don't remember.

CoverStory-STORY_blitt_trump_uncle_sam.jpg

The media talks about things they know nothing about and they exaggerate things and playing a destructive role and now they are making things up:

The Post, citing conversations with three former officials with knowledge of the matter, said Trump made the statement to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and then-Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the same meeting in which Trump discussed highly classified intelligence with the foreign officials.

IIRC no one was in the Oval Office during this meeting except the translator and congress wanted Trump to release the translator's transcripts which they refused to do. But now three former officials with knowledge of the matter are speaking out?

This is a great vid. Thanks for posting it.

It has some factual errors, but what I find most egregious was this portion: "They’re a deep state, all right, but not like Trump thinks. They’re not rogues. They’re patriots."

That's pure bullshit. They are rogues. They've anointed themselves as "saviors of democracy". Ignoring the fact that democracy requires elections, not deep state manipulation. Like it or not, Trump won the 2016 election under the rules in place at the time. Nothing he's done rises to an impeachable offense. And nobody has the right to overturn that election except voters in the next election.

It has lots of factual errors as does the one written my WaPoo. Democrats made a huge deal when Trump met with the Russians, but how many other presidents did the same things?Patriots my buttocks. I think this is just more of the IC trying to get rid of Trump like they have since he won. I sure hope that we find out how much payback is a bitch.
And it pisses me off that I defend Trump, but I cannot stand hypocrisy. I am fully on board with impeachment,, but not for this or Russia Gate. But then the dems won't touch those other issues.

@edg it is probably the most important thing, we as a community can do, to prove a concept of government to be viable and vibrant. By this I mean the Truth. If we deserve our self-bestowed self-esteem to go unmatched by deeds then we are not all worthy of such self emulation.

Individual acts of DJT have been horrendous. Listing them on c99 would be a balm to my ego, but doing so would not propel a positive change, a course correction. We, unlike the Dims need a policy point upon which we can agree.

I suggest that we generally agree with the concept that, as flawed as it was and still is, the Constitution of the United States is the bedrock of this nation's aspirations: such as to be the shining city on the hill. Wouldn't we love it if such became true?

@edg It amounts to an attempted coup. Trumps "crimes" were to ask that Ukraine cooperate with the Attorney General's investigations. Anyone that has seen Biden's disgusting, arrogant comments at the Council on Foreign Relations would have to agree with Trump that it "sounds horrible." If you want evidence of withholding aid for political purposes you need look no farther than Biden and Obama. What sickens me, however, is how completely the msm have joined in. They never mention Biden's comments at the Council of Foreign Relations. They never mention that the fired Prosecutor General testified that he was fired because he made Biden unhappy. They misconstrue, they misdirect and they simply lie. This, unfortunately, is not new. Recall Russiagate and the lead up to the invasion of Iraq, among other things. Trump is often called a fascist, but compared to John Brennon, John Bolton, their like-minded colleagues and their Blue team enablers, Trump is a rank and incompetent amateur whose great sin is to fuck up our descent into fascism.

The Brothers: John Foster Dulles, Alan Dulles, and Their Secret World War by Stephen Kinzer describes the

....hidden forces that shape the national psyche, from religious piety to Western movies—- many of which are about a noble gunman who cleans up a lawless town by killing bad guys. This is how the Dulles brothers saw themselves, and how many Americans still see their country’s role in the world.

These brothers, raised in the rarefied world of privilege in the thirties, rose to positions of power in the era of WWII, becoming Secretary of State and Director of the OSS spinoff that was to eventually morph into our CIA. Arguably, no two individuals had a greater impact on the course of US foreign policy, and the methods employed to implement it, than the Dulles brothers, John Foster and Allen. Unfortunately, their legacy and their vision of America’s role are still shaping our world through the projection of power and the deceits of clandestine interventions leading to regime changes.

I would be surprised if Trump has not committed some impeachable offense. But the Russia thing isn't it.

to bite off Hillary's finger. When Bill was president Warren met with Hillary and persuaded her to talk Bill into killing Biden's increased protection for lenders from rapacious borrowers. When Hillary was senator she supported the Bill. Warren gave an interview on the subject before she was involved in politics. She was not happy.

Warren was the single female Democratic senator who declined to give Hillary an endorsement before the primaries started. That's an event of some significance.

During the debates Warren took actions that helped Bernie on several occasions. Someone, I think Paul Krugman, said Glass Stegall would have done nothing to stop the meltdown because it didn't deal with shadow banking. Bernie was able to respond that he supported Warren's proposed Glass Stegall bill, which did have provisions to regulate shadow banking. On another occasion someone pointed out that Warren's bill did not break up big banks. Warren stated publicly that the bill didn't propose breaking up too big to fail banks but she supported the idea.

Warren and Sanders both supported Clinton when she had the nomination locked up. It was Bernie's responsibility to defend his supporters from Team Clinton's smears and insults during and after the convention.

It wasn't Warren that Clinton invited to the Hamptons to be introduced to a few dozen of her favorite fundraisers. It was Harris.

But, even if so, Harris was to be nothing more than a Clinton place-holder to be swept aside one HER decided to resurrect the same Dimocratic party, which she has still not successfully destroyed, even with minor assistance from Barack, JoJo and Wild Bill. Nope. My contention is that Hillary Rodent Clinton will sweep the field of duped pseudo-contenders in a fixed horse race. HRC -- still with her!~
