For the DCCC, the kids aren't all right

Ever since the DNC tried to rig the 2016 primaries against Sanders, the DNC has had trouble with fundraising. The DNC brand was tarnished and donors don't want to give them money.
Now the DCCC is in danger of doing the exact same thing the DNC has done.

The epicenter of this is Marie Newman's challenge to eight-term Rep. Dan Lipinski.
Last week I pointed out that getting on the DCCC blacklist has its advantages.

The news and the show of support from outside groups had an impact. Between Friday morning and Monday evening, Newman’s campaign raised an additional $44,646 from 2,442 online donors, demonstrating that a segment of the Democratic electorate is motivated to help candidates precisely because they are shunned by the party establishment.

Which shows how much the DCCC is hated amongst voters.
In the last few days grassroots organizations responded as well.

Not intimidated by the DCCC's widely condemned policy of blacklisting organizations that support primary challengers against Democratic incumbents, a coalition of progressive groups on Monday endorsed Marie Newman's campaign to oust "anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ" Illinois Rep. Dan Lipinski in 2020.
...EMILY's List, MoveOn, Democracy for America (DFA) Planned Parenthood, and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC) joined NARAL in endorsing Newman on Monday.

In an email to supporters, the PCCC said the coalition's endorsement of Newman is an explicit "rebuke of the DCCC's 'blacklist' of progressive consultants."

This is no small rebellion, and it is likely to spread in the coming months as more challenges happen.
Six days ago 42 colleges planned to boycott the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in protest of the new policy.
In just five days that number has jumped to 68 colleges.

The youths in the Democratic Party are angry.

Sixty-eight chapters of the College Democrats are urging voters not to donate to the party’s congressional-campaign arm after it instituted a new policy to protect incumbents from primary challenges. The protesting students say that the change will deter young candidates and people from historically marginalized communities from running for office. Their outrage isn’t just noteworthy because they represent younger voters in the electorate—these young people are also some of the party’s key organizers and activists.
...
The fact that the College Democrats—the party’s stalwart organizers and its future leaders, staffers, and reliable voters—have joined in the protest demonstrates that they, too, are worried the party is setting itself up for failure.
...“The next generation of grassroots activists and organizers are really not happy with the way the Democratic Party is conducting itself,” Pearce says.

Obviously this is a deadly serious problem for the DCCC, so naturally they have carefully listened to their base and backtracked...ROTFL! Of course not! This is the Democratic Party. They only care about large donors, not voters.

May 6--U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos defended Monday her efforts as head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to back party incumbents over challengers as Marie Newman picked up several progressive endorsements in her challenge to eight-term Southwest Side and suburban Rep. Dan Lipinski.

This is more evidence that the DCCC, like most Democratic Party PTB, would rather lose elections to Republicans than have a leftist win. Their economic interests are more allied with those of Republicans than they are with the policies of leftists.

In this instance, I do expect them to do some backpedaling, but only verbal. They will continue their policies about incumbents.

Clinton-allied orgs* looking to take out a senior Obama Congressional ally on Obama's home turf.

Tit-for-tat after Obama ran AOC in NYC.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

He is a right wing (R) running as a (D) because he inherited the seat from his father, a senior member of the Daley Machine.

@The Voice In the Wilderness

is how Obama came to power in the first place. It's his true base.

Lipinski is an important Obama ally not just for his seniority in Congress but, as you say, his generational connections.

Taking Lipinski's seat would be a big scalp for Hillary - just about as big as Crowley's was for Obama when he invaded Hillary's back yard.

With the possible exception of the avowed Nazi who ran against him on the (R) ticket.
I don't really care which (D) replaces him or what faction they belong to. A one-termer is easier to oust than someone who has held the seat for generations.

According to a New Yorker story, her brother and Brand New Congress started her on the path to political office, and with very little money, too.

No matter what her story, though, Democrats would rather lose to a Republican than elect a populist Democrat. They've had a long-standing policy of backing their Third Way incumbents while trying to demolish anyone who dares try to primary an incumbent, even if the incumbent is likely to lose the general. (The 2010 primary between Halter and former Senator Blanche Lincoln is but one example of many.)

I doubt Crowley would have lost the general to a Republican in a district that is mostly Hispanic, African American and Asian, but my guess is the 14th's voters are happier with AOC than they would have been with Crowley. Crowley had been elected to represent New York's 14th district before it was re-districted. After re-districting, residents of the 14th were overwhelmingly members of one minority group or another, primarily Hispanic. Crowley didn't even show up for the one debate scheduled between him and AOC. Small wonder she defeated him by over 15 points.

I don't know yet if AOC is a genuine populist or not. IIRC, AOC said she voted for Pelosi for Speaker because Pelosi was the most left candidate for the job. Coulda fooled me, but what do I know? As usual, I need more time than most posters before I come to a conclusion.

Oh, and Democrats have already floated that they may eliminate AOC's district or primary her.

it neither said nor implied a thing about AOCs's election victory being attributable to populism, andthe post contained almost an entire paragraph about the demographics of the district.

I don't know yet if AOC is a genuine populist or not.

Also many other people say it was about policy. I don't. I wish it was. In fact, I think she is faking. her pronouncements are turning people against MFA and Green New Deal, for example.

EDIT: I agree with your original post.

i'm sitting here watching people set up nearby for a talk to which i alluded in a comment a few days ago. a smart person is going to get up and outline for the audience a research project she completed, in which she apparently traced out the patterns of the nefarious russian social media plot by which they nefariously undercut the billions of dollars spent by our own oligarchs, while simultaneously overwhelming the mighty engine of memetic noise that is our citizen-based bloggery, and thus cunning appointed Der Trumpf to the Presidency.

so i agree, let us applaud any and every front that can be opened up to force the elites to defend the clusterfuck that has been their stewardship of the political system, rather than hyperventilating and pointing fingers at the Volga: "There's a Troll in the dungeon! Gasp!" (faints).

All the same. Speaking of all the same, AOC is losing her flavor of the month status on Twitter. On Venezuela she said, "whatever leadership says" and poof, there went her bubble.

For $10,000.00, up front and in cash and post tax, I'll spend 8 hours PROVING the following claims. IF people don't agree with me, I give a shit enough to say I don't give a fuck.

MoveOn & Emily's & PP & NARAL & ... have supported lots and lots of DLC / Neo Lib f'king sell outs, sell outs who do a great job patting 'em on the head over symbolic votes, and sell outs who do jack shit about stuffing the f'king lies of the fascists back down the throats of the fascists.

(example - WHY are we having the same goddam fights over women's health that we were having 40 years ago, when I was 19?)

Lipinsky is like Biden, to me - I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

I'm glad these almost neo-lib coward groups are gonna band together and ditch him. I have a hunch that this woman is no AOC ???? So ... good riddance Dan, and, ... yawn?

[I have a VERY busy day job - so - don't like my assertions, send me $10,000 grand and I'll spend time PROVING them!! ]

HOPE I'm wrong, and I used my HOPE 2008 t-shirt to wipe up some nasty kitchen messes.

Apparently, a candidate for President in 2016 did work with foreign intelligence to throw the election. I am sure that Nancy Pelosi will be on top of this just as soon as she reads that four hundred-page document that Mueller scrabbled together.

them not to deal with Carter to release the US Embassy hostages, making Carter look weak in comparison to Reagan. Reagan was a two term president followed by one term for his vice president. Their economic and labor policies sent the middle class on a downward spiral, but even Iran/Contra couldn’t unseat him.

I guess it’s the press that really applies the Teflon very selectively. Some sink while others rise completely independent of their own merit.
