Deep Adaptation in the time of Collapse - a Live and Online Training Series...

I got permission from Dean Walker to cross post this announcement here. The course is offered on a donation only basis. That works for me!
Deep Adaptation, Reconnection and Possibility:
We are living in a time of not just immense uncertainty, but a time of a promise of collapse of Earth and Human systems. A collapse fully caused by our ultimately familiar, Business as Usual Human Operating System.
There is another name commonly used for these times: The Sixth Mass Extinction.
For the relatively small number of people who are brave enough to boldly name and face this existentially challenging time, a now-overused quote, attributed to Albert Einstein, seems to be particularly fitting:
We cannot solve our problems with the
same thinking we used when we created them. This series of in-person and online-streaming training sessions are intended to
encourage the generation of precisely this kind of 'new' thinking. The calling of
this time is for a complete transformation of human life on Earth.*
This series of learning and training sessions is a combination of live, in-person, training participation, online participants, and later viewing of recorded sessions for those who are unable to join in real-time.
The current series of live, streamed and recorded sessions is scheduled for
Six Saturdays through the Summer of 2019. May, June and July...Specifically from 9a -1030a - Pacific Standard Time, the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month.
((Use this app to calculate the time in your time zone: https://www.thetimezoneconverter.com))
May 4 and 18
June 1 and 15
July 6 and 20
Please remember - participants may register up to the date of the final training session date... July 20. All late registrants will have full access to all session recordings.
These training sessions will be hosted live in the library of Ashland, Oregon.
All sessions will also be live streamed.
All sessions will also be recorded and posted for any live or online
participant who is unable to attend the live training session.
I plan to sign up tomorrow. Maybe some here are interested?

Thank you!!
I am going to watch it right now. Thank you sincerely for the link. I am on his mailing list, but have never watched a video.

The Poetry of Predicament
is his youtube channel. I will watch more of these. I know of him because I am on his Safe Circle Call email list.

So these were the people who didn't show at meetup
last time we scheduled one at the end of March! I knew there was something to that 541 area code.
Think if we scheduled another meetup for next month they'd come? I personally think we ought to stage a revival of the Age of Utopian Dreaming, given that a future of "collapse" is unlikely to motivate anyone to do much besides go hide in holes or something like that. I'd like to discuss it with them, given that I'm planning a curriculum of my own. If they come I will donate beer or food to their cause.

Could you go . . .
. . . to one of these and report back with your thoughts? I am going to sign up, but probably not ever participate "live." Just mostly because my family life doesn't allow for that kind of stuff. Even here I often read blogs many days later.
My current take on "deep adaptation" is that I am aware of the science that does not look so good, but every day I am doing something about it. That means trying to grow more food and learning more ways to cook from scratch. Small stuff.

Sounds good!

I watched the video
and found it depressing though I will sign up for the classes. he says all he wants to do is spread love to folks. but only after telling us about the various forms of mass extinction. I liked the moderator a lot. yes and no and I don't know.
thanks for the link. we need all points of view.

Didn't you say recently that you went to hear . . .
. . . Guy McPherson speak? Well . . . he is probably the most depressing dude on earth. I first discovered him in 2015 and that shot my soul into the worst low of my life. Holy crap! His whole deal is based on the idea that a shit-load of methane is going to burp into the atmosphere and instantly raise temps 5 degrees or whatever.
I am going to sign up and listen and maybe participate but still tread lightly.

Yes. Big mistake
Silly me. I thought there would be some interesting science at the McPherson talk. He just published a paper in a psychology rag about planetary hospice. Basically he thinks we need to act as we all are in hospice with each other. The other climate papers he referenced were old and he had no specifics on his methane claims. I looked.

The methane situation is pretty real.
I first read about it in the book Six Degrees by Mark Lynas, and it struck me as well-researched and factual.

I don’t disagree that methane is a huge
issue... It is.
I actually was thinking global dimming and wrote methane. He said there was new information stating that a ~30% reduction in carbon would lead to a ~one degree increase in temperature. I could not find the study he was referencing. Maybe out there. I did learn a few interesting things but there was also way too much personal drama associated with him for me.
I have to respectfully disagree with him with regards to his - - I will not lie to you. There is no hope. Lets all say goodbye to our loved ones. - -
Why is this suddenly so important? First, there is hope bc we are still here now. Never say never because you never can tell. Secondly and more importantly, always count each second you have as precious with those you love and be present and kind with those you do not. Because you never can tell.

There have always been Doomers
and there will always be Doomers. There will always be some new doom to declare, as long as there are humans on this crazy globe.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
I'll miss the first two and the fifth, but I'll try to sign up
late and catch them all on replay. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for this
I too read post here days later. I won't have a chance to watch these videos today but I will later.
