I know I haven't said this enough, but thank you Markos

Normally it takes years to build up a large membership list for a blog.
Even after years of hard work you will still end up with a membership list sprinkled with, oh let's say, unpleasant people.

That's what C99P had to look forward to.

And then you decided to that you didn't want hundreds of excellent, thought-provoking writers on your site working for free.
As a businessman I can see why you wouldn't want talented people doing your work for you without compensation of any kind.
Who would? Amirite!

Instead you decided that you preferred sycophants. Or if not sycophants, then people who would learn to at least STFU and Fall Into Line.
I get it, I really do. Talented people say the most annoying things sometimes.
They tend to go on and on about "justice" and "equality". Boo Hoo!
They also think they deserve to be treated with respect. Jeeesh! If you want respect you buy it. Everyone knows that.

So Suck on this Big 'ol Banhammer!

Now, instead of having to wait years and years to build up a large membership of talented writers, C99P suddenly has hundreds to choose from and we didn't even have to pick up a bunch of trolls in the process, like most blogs do.
Basically, C99P just went from Step 3 to Step 9 without the painful evolution, and it's all because you are a complete and total dipshit for not appreciating what you had.

So let me say once again, Thank You Markos. You deserve exactly what you are going to get.

I don't care if he boohoos or throws a conniption IF SANDERS HAS TO URGE DEMOCRATS TO SUPPORT CLINTON. It is JUST as likely that Clinton will have to do what you are SO sure Sanders is going to have to do. This race is NOT over.. it's halftime, for crap's sake!

Sanders may make that play

I couldn't really argue with it. It's not like Trump isn't awful. I just don't happen to agree. So if it's just "Stop Trump" it'll fall on deaf ears. If he can put together a credible argument why Hillary is not the person I think she is then I respect Sanders enough to at least give it an honest hearing.

In the end, I do not obey Sanders just because I agree with a lot of his thinking. I suspect that most of the folks who end up here are either "loose Democrats" or independents like myself. Were that not true, you'd just stay in the land of blue kool-aid.

TOP attracted people interested in D politics, both Ds and

independents, most of whom probably leaned D. But not all. I'm among many who've stated we would not vote for HRC under any circumstances. I learned to respect Bernie Sanders and his decades-long fight for justice when I lived in VT, but I don't regard him as Saint Bernard, and I don't allocate my vote according to anyone else's request. If he's not the nominee and something knocks HRC out of contention, I will not vote for any substitute establishment D--even affable Biden. I can think of no likely candidate offered by a panicked DNC whom I would vote for. A first for me as a lifelong D.

I came to this site from TOP, but I'm staying for the content and community, political and apolitical. Both are delightful. Thoughtful people, thoughtful commentary. I'm done with cowardly little flags and capricious punishments. That's a level of petty tyranny, enabled and supported by the boss, that I have no need to put up with in my sixth decade.

Climate , enviroment, and lots of other topics.

Used to appreciate kos would post opposition to staying in Afghanistan, what happened to that? During HIR when kos called Kucinich 'that little prick' I realized he just is not the Sharpest tool in the box. But neither am I.

I have been put on time out there several times over the years, but do not feel the need to wear that as a badge, and yeah, I okay ed the loyalty oath to get back in which is Not something I am not proud of. But I got over it.

Glad to see the growing success here! Evening Blues and ghonsits eco and war pos5s are my go to for news of what's most important now,.

I look foward to participating in both as time permits Getting ready for our 10th trip to camp in our own tent in countries of southern Africa. Will this be the last time? Hopefully one of them does not collapse into chaos, South Africa and Malawi seem to be tetering. But guess so do we.

Oddly enough, I went to the GOS because

of the "get in line" edict in 2012. My partner had been there for a while, and I just didn't find it interesting. But when she told me about the orders not to criticize Obama, I thought "what an ass!", and signed up. And have been a very small burr in his side, ever since. So, I still have an account there, so I can recc things that are against the rules, and make a comment now and then.

But THIS place...I am here because I like it. Wow. And all the work in the last couple weeks...Wow again.

If it's not obvious, I think Bernie is the best politician to come along in my lifetime. I will be proud to support HIM, no matter how this election turns out. And I will be here, regardless. This looks like the launching pad for whatever comes next, in the Progressive arena.

Does anyone here have an account at Motley Moose?

I have an old account there from when Nurse Kelley left (was booted?) and went over there. It seems pro Hillary, but their traffic is really low key.

Many of those folks left a couple or three years ago during the Black Kos flap and other bannings. I can't remember my login, but I wonder if they know about this place.

By and large, nice people. No agenda here, just wondering. I guess, I'd like to see the members I thought of as kind, thoughtful, community and who write.

Long story.

Some folks appeared to have been truly ugly with Black Kos writers/commenters. When the Banhammer came down, recommending the wrong comment could get a person banned. Not sure the NoRate option was yet in place. But a lot of really nice people were caught in that purge.

There is more to it, than I have put here, but it's late, and I can't remember the details well, so hate to speculate.

I just know that some of the nice folk at Motley Moose are long lost TOP writers and commenters.

Why RantingRooster got banned

At least this is the reason why they are selling it in TOP.

An eight year old comment about 9/11 and a rant against Obama's betrayal that looks a whole lot like things I've said.

And then I saw this in the comments:

After reading all those comments I had to go back and re-read everything RantingRooster said to see if he slipped in something that can be considered racist. He didn't. Nothing even close.
So basically calling someone a "white racist" on DKos is the same as saying "I disagree with you". The accusation is meaningless, and I think that is a HUGE problem. Because an accusation like that should never be meaningless.

I read through those comments and they do not surprise me, comments like those have been peppered here and there in the threads there for a while now, and yes it is disgusting.

The quote in your first blockquote above, "@99%whitefolk Well fuck you very much.", was posted by one of our members here and I believe was pointing to the "99%whitefolk" reference in the comment above that one. It was in essence saying "Hey, you who said 99%whitefolk, Well fuck you very much" (my paraphrase). At least that's how I read it.

as long as I haven't "seen" them in person, I don't make up my mind about them.

It took me a long time til I saw the first minutes of this video a couple of days ago, to understand what DOV-like sentiments are. I still appreciate all her educational diaries as what they are educational.

I got called one too. Then someone informed the poster I was an Indian and pointed out the diary where I outed myself to help a tribal leader in Arizona.

Even the Hillary people flagged him. Got to love karma....

It did sort of frighten me that someone was paying that much attention to know that.
