Just breaking, Clinton (Bill) really displays and says what he thinks about President Obama presidency and efforts during these last 7 years. Please click on the link.

This is just another example of the Cliniton's beliefs and policies of the current administration. Just crazy, why do people think Hilary will be a good president. It will be a train wreck. Wake up people!!!!

Argument for reelection that I have ever seen in 2012 at the convention. His line about leaving Obama a big mess and ridiculing him for not cleaning it up fast enough was brillant. His timing in the speech was nearly perfect and his tone was inspirational.

Fast forward 4 years and he seems to have lost nearly all of that charm and luster. I don't get it???
He just trashed the last 7 years of Obama without qualification and in the next breath lump those 7 years in with the previous 8.

Why can't he sell Hillary, like he did Obama?

I believe that the fact his legacy is being tarnished is subconsciously his main concern.

It's being driven heavily by anti-establishment sentiment. '08 tactics won't work with a "throw the bums out" national mood. She's one of the bums. Especially when, on the Dem side, the primary season is highlighting corruption in government made possible by the revolving door and undue corporate influence across industries. Bernie Sanders, of course, is the reason Hillary's big-bucks fundraising and speechifying are in the news and playing badly for her. Bill's having trouble finding anything that gains traction, even campaigning as if Hillary's already been nominated, per their '08 script. He doesn't handle frustration well.

from that article, I could see Bill saying this. He lays the blame for 2008 at Bush's feet, and then the shitty "recovery" at Obama's. He is getting really weird lately, and he is in Spokane today. Also the line about "re-litigate the past" seems like a tell to me. He is trying to protect his own ass.

Weekly Standard is the most respectable (from a D perspective) I came up with. That's the link I posted at the reddit subthread. From what I can see, it's genuine. Also being spun hard from the right, but sheesh, Bill, wtf? That's like Hillary thinking it would ever be a good idea to bark like a dog with cameras rolling. It's that judgment thing. These are supposed to be experienced pols. The're SELLING that experience. They know how the opposition uses words and images; they have experience doing that themselves.

a Democrat can say "the awful legacy of the last eight years" when stumping for a candidate for POTUS, in any context, without it being seen as dismissive of the current POTUS as, at the very least, weak.

What you do is say something about continuing the fight against Republican congressional obstructionism, with a courteous tip of your hat to the current office holder.

This also must be seen in the context of other massive fuck-ups, such as the AIDS/Reagan thing.

The legacy of Republicans when dominating Congress and when serving as POTUS is horrible. So you could argue that he left out "Republicans," but currently HRC is running against Sanders, not a Republican. So one way or the other, he's saying she can do better than Obama, even if the intended context was to say she could fight them better than Sanders could. Sanders didn't have much to do with the legacy of the last eight years. The message then becomes "the legacy of the last eight years was awful and Obama couldn't stop that from happening and Sanders wouldn't be able to either but HRC could." Did he explain why, other than some stuff about how she always gets stuff done and leaves people happy? Pretty thin fare imho.

Does anyone know?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain that Bill & Hill have license, so to speak, to savage 'O' before certain audiences, so long as their shared goal is to win votes for FSC, since she supposedly will carry on 'O's' legacy.

I'm wondering if WJC is addressing either a very 'Hillary-friendly' audience of fundraisers/donors (One Percent crowd), or maybe a bunch of unionists (who are not particularly Obama-friendly).

Also, some of the national campaign reporters I hear routinely hear on the POTUS channel (XM radio), say that he's definitely lost some of his 'mojo.'

IOW, that's he a shell of his former self regarding his political 'genius,' and that his physical appearance has gone downhill. (They are always careful to cite his past heart problems, and his weight loss due to (I believe) a vegetarian diet.

His trashing of the Bush and Obama administrations takes a lot of nerve since the Clinton two fer laid the ground work for the 'New Democratic' DLC party to totally trash the economy not to mention held the place for the next Iraq invasion. In the process how many children did his sanctions kill? He is up to his old tricks but it's just not believable as we have lived through this. I don't really care about the gaffe the whole clip makes me sick. What a lame pitch to vote for Hillary. Together my ass. Unity seems to be the flavor they are selling this primary and if you step out of line your a Dr. Commie Rat.

I trash Obama's administration frequently but I have a feeling the Billary's would be even worse as they are the epitome of corruption and love bloody endless global war and pillaging. No re- litigation means business will continue. I like how he flung the dreaded Growth in there. Slick Willie seems to have lost his sheen and charm. How stupid do these arrogant rulers of the universe think we are. I guess it doesn't matter as they seem to have found a way to circumvent the democratic process regardless of which party or pol they put in power. but otherwise so far just right-wing sites. Here is the quote:

“I literally from the time I met her 45 years ago ‘til we talked yesterday, she is the best change-maker I have ever known. She always finds a way to make something good happen, to make people feel empowered, to buy people into the process, to make democracy work the way the framers intended for it to work.

Now, if you don’t believe we can all grow together again, if you don’t believe were ever going to grow again, if you believe it’s more important to re-litigate the past, there may be many reasons that you don’t want to support her.

But if you believe we can all rise together, if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us and the seven years before that when we were practicing trickle-down economics and no regulation in Washington, which is what caused the crash, then you should vote for her because she’s the only person who basically had good ideas will tell you how she’s going to pay for them, can be commander in chief and is a proven change maker with republicans and democrats and independents alike.”

Bill Clinton knocks Obama’s ‘awful legacy’

USA Today is claiming it was a gaffe. I am still wondering though about the "seven years" as I am pretty sure that GWB served all eight years. On top of that he comments on the "no regulation in Washington, which is what caused the crash" which was a direct result of his policies. Too bad people cannot put two and two together.

Guess we have to wait to see if any major outlets pick it up and what their excuses will be.

I'd never heard that particular phrase in normal conversation, outside of lawyer talk about actual legal cases and issues. So when we hear it from Bill AND we get it in a famous diary from a Democratic subordinate (as in "re-litigating the primaries") then it seems clear to me that said lackey was given his talking points in a coordinated campaign.

So far, I have only found this 4WWL, a CBS station from Louisiana.

*Update: An aide to Bill Clinton says the legacy he was referring to was Republicans' obstructionism.

"When Republicans controlled the White House, their trickle-down approach drove our economy to the brink of a collapse. After President Obama was elected, Republicans made it their number one goal to block him at every turn," spokesman Angel Urena said in a statement. "That unprecedented obstruction these last eight years is their legacy, and the American people should reject it by electing Hillary Clinton to build on President Obama's success so we can all grow and succeed together."

Nice try. The word "legacy" doesn't usually replace "Republican obstructionism." I will have to check the 1984 glossary.
