Why I'm Supporting Tulsi
I want to preface this piece with the notion that I find politics in general ineffective in the US. What the majority of the citizens want is NOT reflected in the policies of this nation. Our government is owned and controlled by the multi-national corporations and their will is abetted by the mafia branch of the government, the CIA (et al). Secondly, we face the existential threat of rapid impending climate disaster and extinction, the future shock of which probably makes politics moot. That said, when looking at next years primary season, I think Tulsi is a better candidate than Bernie. Here's why...
Really it boils down to foreign policy. Consider the response of Tulsi and Bernie to the US coup in Venezuela...

He is incorrect about several things. Abby Martin reported from the streets of Venezuela and documented the violence was primarily from the US funded opposition. They literally were burning Chavistas. The election was not fraudulent. The opposition largely declined to participate, and instead attacked polling places dominated by Chavistas. The economic collapse in the country is due primarily to our illegal sanctions. The third tweet is better, but the sequence shows a lack of understanding of the situation.

Now I'm not going to run down Bernie. I know many of you support him and I'm certain he stands a better chance at the nomination than Tulsi. Many people vote strategically. In 2016 many of my friends voted for the $hill rather than Bernie because they thought she had a better chance to win in the general.
I feel similar to Caitlin about a possible Sanders presidency....
While Bernie might not start any new hot wars or engage in the kind of obscene regime change interventionism we’re seeing from Trump in Venezuela, under a President Sanders we can expect to see a continued escalation of the world-threatening cold war against Russia, continued starvation sanctions against nations which fail to comply with the demands of the US empire, continued military expansionism around the world, and very little pushback against the depraved agendas of military and intelligence agencies. We can expect to see him play right along with the establishment narrative if the political/media class decides that Assad is gassing civilians and needs a dose of Tomahawk missiles, and we can probably expect him to facilitate the persecution of Julian Assange as well.

So what's so great about Tulsi. Well she has issues too. Neither she nor Bernie are calling out Israel. As we saw with Ilhan last week...just mention Israel and they go off the rails. More evidence of the dysfunctional nature the US government, media, corporate stranglehold. However she is a strong anti-interventionist. You may have noticed that the MSM rarely even mentions her as a candidate. They exclude her in many polls. The way in which they sideline her makes me think she better represents the people than the corporations.

Here in Alabama the general election will go to Trump. However, the primary does provide an opportunity to have some effect. None the less keeping in mind Tim's comment in the clip above, in 2016 the outcome of the Alabama dim primary differed by 18 points from the exit polls (in the $hill's favor). So it is obvious the momentum is for Bernie, but my preferred candidate is Tulsi.

I have three I can live with: Bernie, Tulsi, & Warren
I think Bernie is most electable and can bury Trump. He appeals to all stripe of people. I like that his focus is on economic populism and not social justice where they are pulling him now. If they pull him too far into the "liberal" weeds, he will lose his broad appeal.
I like Tulsi's anti-war positions better than Bernies. I don't think she is able to beat Trump. In the group that formed on Twitter to beat Kos' poll, the animosity for Tulsi is shocking. It is all the old canards: homophobe, anti-Muslim, blah, blah, blah. All of it was very long ago.
I like Warren on the money. She really knows her stuff when it comes to banks and billionaires and the millions of ways they rip people off. I don't think she can beat Trump, and it is the same old BS about used to be a Republican and the so-called phony claim to being native American.
I would like to see Warren and Tulsi in a Bernie cabinet. Some of the Bernie crowd won't even consider Tulsi for SoS. I feel as if I'm surrounded by a bunch of stupid people who are mired in minutia to such a degree that they shouldn't be allowed to play with scissors without adult supervision. When I look at the life and death damage done to Americans by Obama and his predecessors, I can't believe not being native American enough is some huge sin.

Bernie woke much of the country in 2016...
...and I do think he has the best chance at the nomination. However, I'm a product of the peace movement and feel drawn to someone putting that out front.
Warren is already back pedaling on medicare 4 all, failed to support Bernie when it might have made a difference, and was silent on Standing Rock. Her foreign policy is Milquetoast too. Tulsi went to standing rock.
If Tulsi was competitive I think she would suffer RFK's fate. She's calling out the CIA.
So the plan is to keep her off the debate stage. I think she needs 65,000 separate donations and so many points in polls of the DNC's choice. She needs to make it to the debates if nothing else.

I sent a donation to Bernie and one to Tulsi because they are the only ones who are genuine. The worries about Bernie on foreign policy are legitimate but Tulsi takes care of that. The two together would give us a complete candidate who could maybe reverse the suicidal course that the military-industrial complex has us on now. We certainly need an ethical adult in the race.

And, for diversity's sake, Weaver will not serve as his campaign manager (he's Caucasian). Instead, he will serve as a senior campaign 'advisor.' Think I saw someone post (here) that one of Pelosi's staffers is taking that slot--which I didn't know.

So, it's my 'guess' that Weaver might be correct--Bernie is trying to immunize himself against charges that he doesn't garner heavy support from the AA Community. Their elaborate mythologies of Ralph Nader and "third parties." Being a Democrat today is like being a Whig in 1856, only the Whig Party was dead in 1856 and the Democrats of today are still trying to make their Whig Party work rather than splitting up into the Republican Party and the American Party, which is what the Whigs of old did in 1856.
The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.

The Senate and the House are useless.
No one needs to be kept either place. Any strategy that depends on support from either the House or the Senate is hot air. I want people in the administration where they can impact policy directly, independently, and not what the Congress condescends to allow Bernie and his administration to do. That argument with all due respect reminds me of the sheepdogging dkos and the party always does. Just look at all the changes to policy in all of the departments/agencies the Trump administration has done. Hard to recognize any of them - not ed, ag, epa -they all reflect Trump.

Watching Kyle deconstruct his arrogant ass was very instructive. He sees clearly the poison that the elite mouthpieces pour into the discussion to cheapen the public's standards. Kyle also did a great job defending the millennials. A lot of their lives are going to be complete crap because of the shitty hand they were dealt by the greedy.

the point being that even if she doesn't win this election she should be around for a long time and will be a positive force. Plus, she will bring an important viewpoint to the debate stage and I kind of like the idea of a surfing President. Also, she really exposes the asses that use IDPol as an excuse for excluding candidates that they really don't like because of their progressive politics.

I support much of his work. As to Tulsi's polices, if you can spare the 12 min the clip What she stands for lays out several.
I was a strong Berniecrat last cycle. He brought me to c99 (via ld's BNR). I still like and respect him. In 2016 I listened to every speech and rally.
Now I'm listening to Tulsi, and I like what I hear. Everyone is familiar with Bernie. Tulsi not so much. I would encourage you to hear her out.

I've been listening to Tulsi for quite some time now.
I do like her. I just feel at this time there are better places in the administration for her...like I said earlier...SoS. Other than SoS, I would like to see a Sanders/Gabbard 2020 ticket to cover both domestic and foreign issues. I would certainly support her if she won the nomination, but that happening is almost 100% unlikely.
My post was mainly to point out the fact that Sanders has spoken out about Israel (you had stated that he hadn't) and there are many interviews to show that he has.
You also implied that he called the Venezuela election fraudulent. He didn't. He said "many observers" claimed that it was fraudulent. There is a huge difference. Maduro is by no means innocent of violence, but that does not mean he should be overthrown as Sanders states.

On Venezuela because of the socialist label. Tulsi is calling them dictators too...which bothers me. I remember Bernie sending a tape to AIPAC rather than attending their conference while he was campaigning. I find it frustrating that no politician is calling out the weekly shooting of protesting Palestinians.

I guess Bernie missed the Carter Foundation part that
was one of many that monitored the election in Venezuela and called it the 'gold standard' of elections. Or maybe the widely shared report where Venezuela requested even more monitors and he needs to question his 'some say' approach and look at the sources/interests putting out that misinformation. In the meantime he has repeated every false allegation made by the 'opposition' (and most of tRump's) while the truth is very much available and I'd love to see Abby Martin interview/educate Bernie about the facts on the ground in Venezuela.

Sure, "some" say that the elections were fraudulent. However, official observers from several different camps all call it a pretty damned clean election. In point of fact, it was way cleaner and more verifiable than any US election... AND it had outside monitors.
A lot of wanderers in the U.S. political desert recognize that all the duopoly has to offer is a choice of mirages. Come, let us trudge towards empty expanse of sand #1, littered with the bleached bones of Deaniacs and Hope and Changers.

on under 30s voting for Sanders in 2016, including blacks and Latinos. I am not sure if I can find it again though.
On a side note: There was a movie, I think in the 60s or 70s, about killing off people over 30. I believe one of the people in it was Shelley Winters. While I would not recommend this as a solution (being over 30 myself), and I do not really remember the reason for the act of getting rid of older people, educating the older population as to what they are leaving for future generations is vital and would be a good issue for younger (as well as informed older) people to address.
