Protesting Senator Cruz This Morning
I went with people from MoveOn.Org to protest at Senator Cruz's Dallas, TX office today, for him to do his job, that is to Advise and Consent, as the constitution requires by members of the Senate, regarding a president's nomination to the supreme court. There weren't a whole lot of protesters, but it is a Monday and many people have to work.
We are also we letting him know MoveOn.Org would be willing to send Mr. Cruz to any community college he wants and MoveOn.Org will pay for him to take a civics 101 class, to help him remember 1) he swore an oath of office and 2) what it means to understand basic civics.
It really pisses me off when our elected officials don't do their job, and then turn around and call poor people lazy. The amount of money they make in salary alone is enough for like 10 poor people to live on for a year. (hyperbole I know, just pissed) It just BERNS me up! I'm a 5th generation, both Texan and ex-military. I know what it means to swear an oath to defend the constitution, not just from foreign enemies, but domestic ones too, which is really where most of the enemies of the constitution actually are, in our domestic circles, especially our “elected” ones.
While people went up to Senator Cruz's office, I did not, because I wasn't in the mood for being polite, especially to Senator Cruz. It probably was a good idea not to go to his office, I probably would have said something not to appropriate and I didn't want to reflect badly on the other people there, and especially not make MoveOn.Org people look bad. Most of the time I'm really good at being polite, but I have a visceral dislike for Senator Cruz, and when I feel that strongly about someone, I either need to leave or, well, it will go down hill from there, really fast.
Anyway.. everyone was quite civil, chanted, sang, cars and trucks driving by keep honking their horns in approval, it was actually quite enjoyable. The sunshine was bright and there is a nice cool breeze, windbreaker weather if ya know what I mean, really nice.
It wasn't quite a Bernie rally in terms of turn out, but I think we made our point, a whole bunch of people did go up to Senator Cruz's office, but only 4 at a time. I'm sure they didn't want to get overwhelmed. They were nice, at least that's what was reported back to me. Like I said I didn't go up. Arg...I do not like him!
Y'all have a great day, I'm gonna go work on a new essay.
PEACE!

Great job on this diary. Thanks for taking the time to
attend the protest rally and post the photos. I wanted to let you know that I read your manufacturing consent diary; I'm also aware that you got banned at dkos. I'll share some comments about it in your other post here at caucus99.

When you boil it all down, the number one step you can take to get out from under the fascist boot of the oligarchy is to stop subjecting yourself to the the U.S. corporate news media. It is a powerful psyops weapon.
awe thanks
I appreciate it. It's funny, my last diary is now at 250 rec and hotlisted, and I've picked up two followers today. Crazy I tell ya. LOL.
It's so nice that everyone here, is, well, so nice and intelligent. There are so many great writers. I was going to work on an essay but have gotten caught up in reading, commenting and replying, lol. I'm loving this place!
