Raise hell - big time. I want y'all to get out there and raise hell about damned near everything. My word, there's a world out there that needs fixing.
Get out there and get after it.
- Molly Ivins -
Are you ready to raise some hell? I am.
I had been stopping by the pub, for a beer or two, most days. I started gaining weight, plus most nights the pub is inhabited by the same usual suspects. I did not want to identify with that tribe, so I decided to only stop by to play Wednesday trivia and Friday night, when more people come out. To the pub!
I was getting desperate. I had restarted walking five miles a day and was still gaining mass. I summoned the will power to stop buying breakfast pastry, which is rather drastic. I love cinnamon buns, apple strudel, crumb cake, apple fritters, ...
It is rough. I am going through withdraw.
It is said, you can indulge on the weekend.
I think I could eat a whole apple strudel.
Sugar shock and caffeine buzz.
Have a hell of a funkin' weekend. The thread is OPEN.

Good morning, Tim ~~~
Breakfast pastry, sigh, I've had to give it up, too. I only indulge on special occasions. But, OPOL taught me about intermittent fasting and cutting carbs (not out, just cutting down) and it's changed my life since October. I'm now maintaining what I consider my normal weight pretty effortlessly. It does cut into my beer drinking, though. I only indulge Friday and Saturday evenings, lol, but it's been worth it.
The wind is whipping out there as I sit in here. Not sure if a storm is moving in or out - I hate watching the news, so I have to guess.
So happy it's Friday!
Have a beautiful day and weekend, folks!

Yesterday I felt nothing looking at the garbage piling up under the bridge on the roaring river bank. I am finally so numb I feel nothing. At least the grease scraper left on my doorstep worked great to scrape the cake mix bowl. Thanks Teamsters. more electrolytes

Donuts
I am (un)fortunate to have a local donut shop that is extraordinary.
Once a week I bring a dozen to work.
What I love about this place is that there is almost always a line to get in the door.
While patiently waiting in line, I imagine in a Walter Mitty kind of way that everyone else in line is thinking the same thing I am:
Fuck you, Amazon!

Hola, Tim! You can do it. My wife and I lost a bunch after
my MD gave me an ultimatum. I went from 258.8 in late May to 203.4 just before xmas. Between the holidays, reduced activity from a medical issue, a 10 day cruise of the Mexican Riviera and surgery recovery (reduced activity plus instructions to eat to fuel/feed the recovery) I've bounced up to 208 then back down to 205 yestidday.
The main sekret was cutting out salt (which I used to use tons of), cutting back even further on prepared/processed foods and eating out. No hard core targeted diet, just moderation. For other reasons I need to go high fiber and protein, but that's about it. No real problem with carbs, especially complex carbs, other than sugar(s).
We use MyFitnessPal(tm), a free app that also runs in a browser tab from myfitnesspal.com. I, ironically, started using it after an auto-immune flare up to make sure I got enough nutrients instead of too many a few years ago. When I recovered, I stopped. So n May I just fired it up, re-set my goals and off I went. It just sets you a daily calorie intake goal, adjusted for exercise and goals for selected nutrients. You then eat whatever the hell you want as long as you hit those targets. I try to make sure that I aim for the target before adding in exercise, and never fully compensate for the exercise burn, which I know with good accuracy since it syncs with my fitbit. Our only other rule is tht breakfast/first chow of the day starts a 12 hr window for eting, nothing after that, and preferably nothing beyond 8 or 10 hours.
Pastries, heh. Making your own helps a ton. I have a killer sourdough cinnamon roll recipe. Speaking of which, my bread has finished its overnight rise, so I've got to go do the fold and stretch and form process and transfer to a proofing basket, so I'm off to the kitchen.
Good luck and have a great day.

I went from 205# to 168# while caregiving for Sue. During the past two years I have climbed back to 185#, with 175# to 185# being since Thanksgiving. I invested in some good riding gear, both leather and Gortex. Outsizing the gear would be terribly wasteful.
