I had to cancel.
The issue is not so much getting down to Portland as getting back to Seattle area afterwards. Bummed, damned snow.

Carpooling?
“The Democrats and Republicans want you to believe they are mortal enemies engaged in a desperate struggle when all the time, they are partners with a power-sharing agreement.” - Richard Moser
Well, my problem could
And I will freely admit, the thought of spending God only knows how many hours on a slow going freeway is too much for me. I don't want to add to that misery. I once almost became a statistic up here coming home from work, almost had to ditch my car and walk but not for the grace of a few young guys who pushed my car up the offramp. 3 1/2 hours in the car for what's normally at worst a 25 minute trip. I can't bring myself to do it!

I don't blame you. I wouldn't if in your shoes.
Yes. I've done that drive in the snow. It can be a problem.
I made it all the way from Eugene to Seattle with no problem (the pressure of the big trucks melted the snow on I-5 as fast as it fell). I took the exit to stay at a friend of a friend's place on Queen Anne hill in Seattle around 9pm. After 5hours of driving, and less than 15min from my destination, It took over 2 hours to get even close to the address. It took a good 45min to get the tire chains on (missing clasps, knocking on doors to borrow wire etc. etc.). And I came pretty close to taking out a few yuppie Saabs or some such as I occasionally spun out going uphill and started to s-lo-wl-y slide backwards. (queen anne has some pretty steep hills)...
For those that make it to PDX, lift one for all of us. I'm glad there are already tentative thoughts on having another this summer. There's too much going on for me now to make it this time anyway, but I hope by June or later things will slow down enough to make it then. Cheers to all there!
Better to be safe
Oops. I put my reply to you to you to Cass
I live too far away in Washington almost on the border
to even think about it but I have an off topic question to ask of anyone in Oregon.
I have been complaining to Comcast for dropping the RT Channel and my question is because of something that came out in a one conversation when I asked if RT was blocked everywhere Comcast broadcasts and she said "it might" still be shown in Oregon. Is that true?
Thanks in advance.
I don't know.
RT
Just go to rt.com. I think you can get most of the programs there...
I follow RT online already for years
The Weather Channel is giving these winter strorms names,
like hurricane names. I believe this one is Maya. weloveweather. tv
Now if y'all could re-schedule for sometime this summer, I might be able to make one of your Meet-Ups. I'll probably be up there in June, when it's hot as Hell down here.
We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
so far it's ok
the weather service (whatever that is) said there was a storm watch commencing an hour and a quarter ago. Right now it's fairly pleasant in the high 30s. No precipitation.
Perhaps the snowpocalypse won't happen.
Dunno
More snow coming today.
I'm 12 miles from meetup, but across the river. Lotta crazy drivers out there.
But still game.
Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.
We will have to see what happens with the more snow part.
Road report looks good for a drive tomorrow
from my direction. Predicted highs in Portland metro area above freezing, great for a midday meetup.
If someone would like a ride I have space for 2. Route could be adjusted for east side of Portland metro the eastern edge being Sandy. Don't plan on stopping by the nursery this trip, so no plants using up my passenger seats.
