The UN Considers this Torture

Like Military at Gitmo, ICE Reportedly Using Nasal Tubes to Force Feed Migrant Prisoners on Hunger Strike

"By starving themselves, these men are trying to make public the very suffering that ICE is trying to keep hidden from taxpayers."

According to the Associated Press, the detained migrants said they began refusing food to "protest verbal abuse and threats of deportation from guards."

Employing what one critic described as "Guantanamo Bay style" abuse, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials are reportedly using plastic nasal tubes to force-feed at least six detained migrants who have been on a prolonged hunger strike to protest conditions at an El Paso, Texas prison.

As the Associated Press reported on Thursday, detained migrants and an attorney representing the hunger strikers said "nearly 30 detainees from India and Cuba have been refusing to eat, and some are now so weak they cannot stand up or talk."

According to the AP, the detainees said they began refusing food to "protest verbal abuse and threats of deportation from guards. They are also upset about lengthy lock ups while awaiting legal proceeding."

The force-feeding began during the second week of January after "a federal judge authorized force-feeding of some El Paso detainees," the AP reported.

Rights groups and critics immediately reacted with alarm to the AP's report, with many pointing out that both the United Nations and the World Medical Association have condemned force-feeding as torture.

The nasal tubes are removed after each feeding instead of being left in like when people have them inserted at the hospital. This is why their noses start bleeding. I guess the good news is that they haven't resorted to feeding them anally. Yet.

I had lots of problems with this. It kept loading the article twice and out of place.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

They used to do it to Suffragettes in England. Exact same procedure. Only I don't believe they used plastic, bout the only difference. This is the Death Throes of Empire we're witnessing.

Americans are teaching a very dangerous lesson to people these days. "Don't let them take you Alive."

And I need Angry Music. So forgive me my Sabaton.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

of those who are doing this.
Are they qualified to perform the procedure? If so they need their medical or nursing licenses terminated.
And the judge should be hung.

Will they take a break from re-investigating every thing about Russian interference and look into the heinous things that ICE and people who are running the detention centers are doing?

It's been way over 150 days since a judge told the Trump administration to reconnect the children with their parents and there are still too many kids separated and being held in those centers. Also will they look to see if people are even qualified to work there?

Most of them still support our little torture center in Cuba. But boy do they raise hell about brain destroying crickets.

Here's a side-thought: strict gun control will never make it in America because Americans do stuff like this.

again and agreed completely. That's absolutely the definition of torture in my book. Then I read further and discovered the real topic. Of course, I also agree that nasal force-feeding is torture, not to mention the abhorrent treatment of the detainees and their families.

What is happening in this country? It's turning into something I don't recognize.

But yeah. Hillary running again could be considered torture. Smile

The hypocrisy of this country is boundless. We will remove some presidents for human rights abuses and then we do that same thing or worse. Then we support other governments when they commit them.
