Running for Attorney General, Harris pushed an anti-truancy bill which Governor Schwarzenegger signed into law in 2010 to allow truancy to become a crime all its own. Before the bill, truancy had to be prosecuted as child endangerment.

As San Francisco’s district attorney, Harris had prosecuted at least 25 truancy cases as of late 2010. No parents were arrested, and none were jailed, according to a prosecutor who still works on the issue in the current district attorney’s office. Instead, the parents were issued citations to come to court, where they could avoid a fine by completing a plan to improve their child’s attendance.

In her 2010 speech, Harris noted that one of the parents prosecuted for truancy was a single mother of three, who was homeless and working two jobs. By shining the “spotlight of public safety” on her case, officials were able to get the woman services, Harris argued. Once her children’s attendance improved, “we dismissed the charges against her”.

What "services" did that woman get? A place to live? It sure would be nice if we saw how much she was helped after she got Harris' attention. Did that woman have to take time off from her job to meet with Harris officials to find ways to make sure that her children got to school? Don't get me wrong. I think kids should go to school and get educated, but i don't think that parents who are struggling should be threatened with jail.

But let's flip that. Offer the help straight up. Keep prosecutors out it. Poor parents don't need the threat of jail to get their kids to school. They need what the wealthy take for granted: good schools, lead-free water, safe parks, healthy food, well-stocked libraries, etc /End

This is an interesting development. On what grounds was he suspended from Twitter?

Jermane here. Yes, my account was suspended for no apparent reason. My tweets about Kamala Harris’s past as a prosecutor had gone viral, and was beginning to be cited by news outlets.

Naturally, because I was making significant political waves and causing disruption for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, I think I was mass reported by a bot army. I did not post anything threatening or break any twitter rules whatsoever, and haven’t been given a reason for my suspension, which looks permanent now because twitter is requesting I give them a photo ID to prove my identity, which given the attention I’m getting I don’t feel comfortable with, especially given how much damage I’ve personally caused Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign.

My comments are not showing up in the ChapoTrapHouse subreddit, where people are asking about this as well, because my account is too young still. Would appreciate if someone could help get me verified there as I have been here.

Also, I saw that people are trying find out what happened on twitter, specifically Walker Bragman, whose videos I posted. If someone could reach out to them and others, I’d appreciate it.
