A Short History of the Universe according to JtC
Submitted by JtC on Sun, 01/27/2019 - 1:32pm
It's Sunday. It's below zero outside and I have cabin fever.
-----------------------
Prelude
The universe was created by a 3d printer.
All that is, all that was, eminated from nothing. To something.
"This shit is so nothing, I gotta copy it.", sayeth the Creator. Goo in, goo out, wireless wormhole connectivity, blasted to a parallel reality. To you and to me.
"Here ya' go, I'm copying it all baby!" Trumpy Bear, Tac Sunglasses, My Pillow, Presidential Ellections. All too groovy for one side, of the singularity.
-----------------------
Interlude
Entr'acte - Stuff happens. Fill in the blank (________).
A pause.
Bridge - The universe is proven literally to be, the Creator's brain. Planet Earth is found to be a dead neuron due to collective neurodegenerative disease brought on by excessive human greed and internecine belligerence.
-----------------------
Postlude
The universe bypasses and heals.
Also sprach Zarathustra
A heliocentric Buh Bye.
Heh!

Just because...
stuff.
The universe is
just a figment of your fevered, overactive imagination.
Yup...
I attribute it to having too much fun when I was but a lad.

Feeling better about things these days. Maybe it's therapy, maybe it's turning off the News, maybe it's getting my body slammed into the floor repeatedly...
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
My therapy...

Now that my significant other has joined me in retirement, we're turning her former home office into an exercise room.
It's already made a huge difference on how I'm viewing the doldrums of winter.
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.

or maybe a better approach?

It's a little bit above...
zero now, but close enough for an old country boy with a 3d printer that can create his own reality.
May not be an old timey A/B melody, but close enough for a cricket on the hearth.
My buddy the barefoot swamp fiddler...
often plays that one. The name reminds me of a session several years ago at Galax VA...back in the days of the horse stalls. One of the few black old time fiddlers my age, Earl White, was playing "Sal won't you marry me" which I recorded. The cicadas and katydids were chirping the whole time...sometimes cycling into the rhythm but generally not. It is a wild auditory memory.
Here's a couple of buddies playing the tune, but it is a far cry from that night with the wild insect rhythms...(3.5 min)

I originally learned this tune from Ray Alden's album visits

Thanks for the Crickets (hope they don't do me like they did the Cuban CIA spies).

Hello...
old friend.
In addition to below zero for days on end,
they are predicting a major snow storm through here. I had an appt. for tomorrow am to get my Italian passport at long last, but I rescheduled it to Thursday to avoid the 60 mile round trip in 6 - 10 inches of snow. I hear Palermo is always warm. At this time of year, I'd even settle for landlocked AZ. I75 was shut down today in northern MI. They are already buried.

Wait...
you're not up north at the lake? I'm quite a ways away from I75, but I live pretty close to the start of Route 66. If you go to Palermo swing by and pick me up.

I live in...
northern Illinois. Although not the Chicago area, but as I said, pretty close.
Our house up north i NE MI is a summer house.
In October, we turn off the water, heat, and electricity, board up the windows on the lake and shut it down for the winter. November through April we live in our home in SE Michigan. In May we go up and turn everything on. May - October we travel between the homes. If I am not mistaken, WI has a "cottage" culture too, right?
I'll text you so you know when to pack.

You can buy a house in Sambuca for $2.
Not kidding.
Now that I have Irish citizenship, I'd love to figure out how to do this.
I know. I've read about it.
The last thing I need is three homes. If I could convince my husband to sell one of the ones we have, I might think about it a little more. Another concern is that my husband is not a DIY kind of guy. Not complaining, he takes great care of me.

Speaking of Joe Walsh
This is a must-see!
I've watched this about 8,493 times in the last few days.
[EDIT]: Huh - the video's not there anymore. It's worth the effort for anyone who wants to "Duck" it, though. The kids are amazing!
coincidence
I've been listening to Spotify and that last song (Hell) came up earlier. Never heard it before; I like it!
This shit is bananas.
And a 1 and a 2 and a 3
Prof: Nancy! I’m going to Greece!

Prof: No. No. To ancient Greece where burning Sapho stood beside the wine dark sea. Wa de do da! Nancy, I’ve invented a time machine!

Stop the War!
somehow, can't see these sweeties
rolling a joint, let alone inhaling a thai stick (high stick, doobie, reefer), but fun to imagine anyways.

oh my good fucking god ... did anyone actually
know what that song was about?
i can't believe that happened. i can't believe that happened. i can't believe that happened.
but because it did, i'm going to repost this, which is almost as surprising, but not particularly absurd. Tom Jones and Steve Stills go head to head ... Stills seems to take permission from Jones's own over-the-top style to really, really cut loose in a way you may have never seen before ... and holy oh my moley, Neil kicks in with a guitar lead over Stills's crazed wailing ...

well, what's this song about then?
Warning: this song may cause a fold in space and time.

So in that case, no "meaning" to the lyrics, other than literal, lost on Pat...but that other one, yikes! Completely lost on them...they hear, "Sweet Jesus," and jump to, "A modern spiritual," LOL Well, yes, I suppose for some it is spiritual, but I'm guessing for this crowd, not in the sense they are thinking. "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it does."
Well yeah...
the lyrics are self explanatory. My point was the performance. You didn't find Pat Boone a little, shall we say, disturbing singing that genre in that manner? Not to mention the leather jacket and sun glasses. And I wont even mention the terrible band backing him up.
By asking for an explanation I mean, how is it possible and keeping in context with this lighthearted, nonsensical musical essay, that the universe could begat something so bizarre as that video?
Guitar is all wrong
From a guitarist
As for the Boone's cheese and style-all-wrong for the genre...well, I'm a bit weird in the sense that I sometimes enjoy that. Take the CSNY clip above, with Tom Jones. I actually smiled during that...probably similar to Crosby that looks to me like he's chuckling at the absurdity of it all during the performance. And this is from a long-time, hardcore Neil Young fan. I'm a sucker for some cheese, LOL
So, I don't usually cringe at stuff like Boone's cover, because I find humor and even enjoy it...though I won't argue with more "purist" types, because, well it's all subjective and I see no reason to force my lunacy on people that are technically, more grounded in their foundational view than I must admit I am off-base...because I'm weird.
Oh ETA:
To appease people like me! Gimme some cheese, universe! Granted, here is Tom Jones and Pat Boone..."oh, great, can I get some Neil Diamond too?" LOL
For my own contribution
