Russiagate means never having to say you're sorry
I've been thinking about doing an essay of all the false Russiagate "bombshells" (over 50 now), but then I figured that eventually someone would do the work for me.
I'll start a thread here to count them (I had started one for a CounterPunch article more than a year ago, but gave up partly because the list just kept growing as I tied to write). So:

Of course that is only one of the lists of fake Russiagate news.
You might be incline to think that after getting it consistently wrong so often that the media might start questioning the whole premise of the theory.
Another indication of something being wrong with this Trump konspiracy story is how many people on the left don't buy it, despite the entire media establishment pushing it hard. Isn't it curious that the media has to try to shame leftists into getting onboard with Russiagate over and over again?
But this is Russiagate, and like Saddam's WMD's and ties to al-Qaeda, there are no consequences for getting it wrong.
As long as you get it wrong in the politically acceptable direction.
For instance, Mueller saying that Buzzfeed was wrong hasn't caused Buzzfeed to retract their story.
The entire idea of Russiagate is laughable.
Russia, nor any politically isolated, economically tiny nation like Russia, never had the ability of seriously impact our multi-billion dollar presidential elections, and the fact that they spent less than $200K on puppy memes and sex toy ads proves it.
So why would Trump konspire with Putin to do something he wouldn't be able to do?
Or to put it another way:
It’s hard to know where to begin with this horseshit. There’s the idea that Russian intelligence agencies can “pick candidates” and get them nominated in Democratic primaries by force majeure, a feat that even the Queens County Democratic machine has shown itself incapable of.
But let's say for the sake of argument Trump did konspire with Putin.
Is it politically realistic to think that a sitting president would be indicted for treason?!? Of course not. That would trigger a constitutional crisis the country has never seen before, at a time in which faith in the system is already shaky.
They'll obviously avoid that.
At this point, liberals have worked themselves into a mania. They probably can't picture the Mueller investigation not ending with Trump resigning...but they should because we've seen this before.
Fitzmas
"Fitzmas" is the atmosphere of excitement and anticipation preceding the conclusion of Patrick Fitzgerald's grand jury investigation into the Bush regime's treason and perjury.
In case you've forgotten this episode, consider that this happened just 9 months ago.
The statement came on Friday when the president granted a full pardon to I. Lewis Libby Jr., who was Mr. Cheney’s top adviser before he was convicted in 2007 of perjury and obstruction of justice in connection with the disclosure of the identity of a C.I.A. officer, Valerie Plame. Mr. Libby, the president declared, had not received justice.
Still don't see the parallels? Then consider this factoid.
James Comey has hired Patrick Fitzgerald, a former US attorney and personal friend of his, to represent him, Fitzgerald's office confirmed Wednesday.
...In 2003, when he was deputy attorney general, Comey appointed Fitzgerald as special counsel to investigate the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.
That's a curious connection to say the least.
Now let's look at a few headlines from the recent past.
Newsweek, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune.
It was only a matter of time before Donald Trump, ur Dick Cheney, was indicted.
Or not.
Don't get me wrong. Trump is incredibly corrupt on an unparalleled level.
But simple corruption is not something that will get you fired in Washington these days.
In the end, Russiagate won't be about Russia, or collusion, or even corruption.
It'll be about silencing dissent on the left.
RT points out that Google, Bing, Facebook and Youtube have hidden various progressive, socialist and anti-war websites, citing changed “algorithms” to fight “fake news.” World Socialist Web Site found that 13 such websites had seen their traffic plunge by 55% shortly thereafter. These and others affected include wsws.org, Black Agenda Report, Global Research.ca, Consortium News.com, Alternet.org, democracynow.org, counterpunch.org, Truth-Out.org, Police the Police, Free Thought Project, counterpunch.org, wikileaks.org, truthdig.org, mediamatters.org, commondreams.org, TheIntercept.com, and ACLU.org.Facebook and these other media technology corporations are taking their cue from the blacklist published in Washington Post by PropOrNot. Even journalists who question the Russia-did-it story, like Glenn Greenwald and Aaron Maté, are accused of being agents of the Kremlin.
Ultimately, Russiagate is about silencing information exposing the lies, crimes, fake news and false flag war operations of corporate America and the national security state.
Once again, this has been done before. In the late 1940's the establishment liberals turned on the socialists, and it was never enough to satisfy the right-wing.
In the end, only progressives lost. It'll be the same this time around too.

Cut right to the heart of it. Now people, share this diary
Everywhere you can.
RT has a top 7 list
today, as well. you likely have them all, but having seen the title, i'd thought i'd bring it by.
Got it
It's the first link.
On a related note, why does the establishment want Trump out?
My theory:
Because he's the court jester becoming king. He's the parody of a bad joke.
They are afraid that people might wake up to the fact that the existing system doesn't deserve our respect.
I think the Onion got it more or less right
Do you have a link to the Onion piece you are referring to?
Poked around there a bit and couldn't find it.
Thanks!
(Did come across a funny piece about the GHW Bush funeral extravaganza being extended due to its incredible popularity. Lol)
Everyone must read this book
Enron, Anderson Consulting (85,000 people lost their jobs), Merrill Lynch destroyed, Senator Stevens taken out in final months leading to reelection, and now Mueller. Learn who his "pit bulls" are in the investigation and their history of being overturned by the Supreme Court for Prosecutorial Malfeasance, again and again and again. It's a page turner.

Why? Russiagate is a secular cult.
Russiagate has become a modern secular cult with all the fixins of a cult. Absolute faith in a group of central beliefs. A refusal to even express skepticism when given contradictory evidence. Demonizatin of naysayers--in league with the devil (Kremlin, Putin). In fact, a belief that the contradictory evidence proves their faith in a set of beliefs. The list goes on.
In earlier times
I suppose we're fortunate that most of the current demonization is being acted out online rather than in person.
