France's crackdown on Yellow Vests gets serious

The Yellow Vest protesters are out of control. Just look at this for proof.

Members of the "yellow vests" protest movement have vandalised almost 60% of France's entire speed camera network, the interior minister has said.
Christophe Castaner said the wilful damage was a threat to road safety and put lives in danger.
The protest movement began over fuel tax increases, and saw motorists block roads and motorway toll booths.
Some protesters feel speed cameras are solely a revenue-generating measure which takes money from the poor.

That is soooo...true and reasonable. When do we start our yellow vest movement?
Well, we can't have that.

Officers were filmed brandishing Heckler & Koch G36 weapons by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris on Saturday afternoon. The presence of semi-automatic rifles at a demonstration by unarmed French citizens shows how President Emmanuel Macron’s law and order crisis spirals.

It comes after former conservative minister Luc Ferry called for live fire to be used against the ‘thugs’ from the Yellow Vest movement who he says ‘beat up police’.

Hey! A militarized police force is OUR thing. No copying.

This crackdown coincided with the attempt by Yellow Vests to make a nationwide bank run. The government responded.

The yellow vest movement activists took to social media recommending the massive cash withdrawals. Maxime Nicolle, one of the protestors, called it the ‘tax collector’s referendum.’ The protestor said that the movement aimed at getting the citizens’ ‘bread’ back since the government is making profits with their money in the banks.
...Although the globalists claimed that the “bank run” would not work and would have no effect on the Euro and French banks, the currency has taken a slight hit and seems to be suffering from a ‘short squeeze.’
...The effects are confirmed by multiple reports that French banks are restricting and sometimes denying withdrawals from a majority of their customers. Some of the ATMs were left not working. Thus, the French bank runs seem to be working despite the major media blackout. The bank run seems to have rattled the government extensively leading to mercenaries dressing as French police and firing live ammunition into crowds of unarmed civilians.

I guess people aren't powerless after all.
Here's a video of a fireman who joined France's Yellow Vest protest movement being shot in the head 'like a rabbit' by a police officer using a flash ball gun.

Any Yellow vests are a conspiracy theory. Well, if it IS happening, it's only a small group of fascists in France, and what we should really be worrying about it the Fascists here, who are the REAL danger. You can tell the Fascists because they don't believe in Corporate Media.

Speaking of them, What we really should be worrying about are those poor federal employees... Don't you know that they're suffering? Here's a few more dozen stories on them, and their hardships and struggles.

Now that the French are pulling out live ammo, I wonder what turn this will take.

My confusion stems from the article title or just your title I guess.

The use of "semiautomatic weapon".

The use of semiautomatic weapon, especially in America, is meant to drum up more fear than the reality of the item.

A pistol is a semiautomatic weapon. It's just 1 bullet per trigger squeeze.

My Grandpa has a semi-auto rifle (I believe) for hunting; of course it only holds 5 rounds.

I've gotten off-topic from the actual concerns of the Yellow Vest, but throwing support to those across the pond.

But actual rifles with actual bullets, when used, will actually KILL people. Is that what this news report is saying? Deter and injure protestors is a tactic I'd expect and am personally familiar with. But to actual kill them?

This can't be true, could it?

when they refer to "live ammunition", they're talking about gas canisters, flash balls, rubber bullets and the like, right?

@dervish
I think they are issuing real guns with real ammo to the cops, but I think the "live ammunition", they're talking about gas canisters, flash balls, rubber bullets and the like.

It's still alarming, but not that bad yet.

@gjohnsit because while I wouldn't put it past Macron to gun people down in the streets of Paris, I didn't think we were there yet.

It's been done before, remember the massacre of 1961? There's a little plaque to memorialize the victims on the Pont St. Michel.
