Russia Gate's Hidden Agenda

Kristol a Kremlin agent? Shady outfit claims term ‘neocon’ is Russian propaganda

Anyone using the term ‘neocon’ is doing the Kremlin’s bidding, according to PropOrNot, a shadowy outfit that sees Russian agents everywhere, in its quest to police social media on behalf of the ruling US establishment.

The anonymous and self-appointed guardians of democracy declared this week that terms such as “neocon,” “corporatist”, “imperialist” or “establishment” – among others – are “tropes/slurs primarily used by Russian propaganda.” To illustrate this, they tweeted a chart by someone called “Northern Conspirator,” another anonymous Twitter thought-police account.

*

The efforts of anonymous outfits to police speech in the US is problematic, given the recent revelations that another self-appointed guardian of democracy, New Knowledge, actually spearheaded a “false flag” social media operation in 2017 – one of the four such operations identified so far, all on behalf of Democrats in a hotly contested Senate race in Alabama. New Knowledge was later commissioned by the Senate Intelligence Committee to write a report on social media meddling, in which they attributed their own methods and tactics to the Russian government.

that says its goal is to let people know whether the website they are reading is true or false news. But that is not its real goal. Facebook, Twitter and Google have all changed their algorithms that has seen alternative websites traffic reduced by up to 90%. Facebook was the first website that censored Alex Jones and then Twitter followed a few weeks later. Now the real reason we are seeing this happening is clear.

How a NeoCon-Backed “Fact Checker” Plans to Wage War on Independent Media

As Newsguard’s project advances, it will soon become almost impossible to avoid this neocon-approved news site’s ranking systems on any technological device sold in the United States.

Soon after the social media “purge” of independent media sites and pages this past October, a top neoconservative insider — Jamie Fly — was caught stating that the mass deletion of anti-establishment and anti-war pages on Facebook and Twitter was “just the beginning” of a concerted effort by the U.S. government and powerful corporations to silence online dissent within the United States and beyond.

While a few, relatively uneventful months in the online news sphere have come and gone since Fly made this ominous warning, it appears that the neoconservatives and other standard bearers of the military-industrial complex and the U.S. oligarchy are now poised to let loose their latest digital offensive against independent media outlets that seek to expose wrongdoing in both the private and public sectors.

As MintPress News Editor-in-Chief Mnar Muhawesh recently wrote, MintPress was informed that it was under review by an organization called Newsguard Technologies, which described itself to MintPress as simply a “news rating agency” and asked Muhawesh to comment on a series of allegations, several of which were blatantly untrue. However, further examination of this organization reveals that it is funded by and deeply connected to the U.S. government, neo-conservatives, and powerful monied interests, all of whom have been working overtime since the 2016 election to silence dissent to American forever-wars and corporate-led oligarchy.

More troubling still, Newsguard — by virtue of its deep connections to government and Silicon Valley — is lobbying to have its rankings of news sites installed by default on computers in U.S. public libraries, schools, and universities as well as on all smartphones and computers sold in the United States.

In other words, as Newsguard’s project advances, it will soon become almost impossible to avoid this neocon-approved news site’s ranking systems on any technological device sold in the United States. Worse still, if its efforts to quash dissenting voices in the U.S. are successful, Newsguard promises that its next move will be to take its system global.

Red light, green light . . .

Newsguard has received considerable attention in the mainstream media of late, having been the subject of a slew of articles in the Washington Post, the Hill, the Boston Globe, Politico, Bloomberg, Wired, and many others just over the past few months. Those articles portray Newsguard as using “old-school journalism” to fight “fake news” through its reliance on nine criteria allegedly intended to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to online news.

Newsguard separates sites it deems worthy and sites it considers unreliable by using a color-coded rating — green, yellow, or red — and more detailed “nutrition labels” regarding a site’s credibility or lack thereof. Rankings are created by Newsguard’s team of “trained analysts.” The color-coding system may remind some readers of the color-coded terror threat-level warning system that was created after 9/11, making it worth noting that Tom Ridge, the former secretary of Homeland Security who oversaw the implementation of that system under George W. Bush, is on Newsguard’s advisory board.

Newsguard gives Fox News high marks for accuracy.

IMG_3082.JPG

Fake News?

IMG_3081.PNG

So why is this a very dangerous idea?

A recent Gallup study, which was supported and funded by Newsguard as well as the Knight Foundation (itself a major investor in Newsguard), stated that a green rating increased users likelihood to share and read content while a red rating decreased that likelihood. Specifically, it found 63 percent would be less likely to share news stories from red-rated websites, and 56 percent would be more likely to share news from green-rated websites, though the fact that Newsguard and one of its top investors funded the poll makes it necessary to take these findings with a grain of salt.

I encourage you to read the rest of the article and see what is happening and what it's going to lead to. This 'business' wasn't created by some concerned citizens. Nope. This and other companies are being funded in the background by the government. The Atlantic council is full of war criminals like Albright and Kissinger and the Saudis are involved with it as well as other foreign governments and people. I'm willing to bet $5 that Israel has its hands somewhere in this stuff.

Caitlin has also written about this. Most excellent!

A New Narrative Control Firm Works To Destroy Alternative Media

Then there's this tidbit;

Daily Kos is having NewsGuard check its website to see if what they write passes the snuff test. At first it didn't because the community diaries are not checked by DK staff. Now every diary written by a community member has this disclaimer after the person's name:

Markos the good little soldier resurrected his PR ploy and bought Pelosi 10,000 roses for her ma and pa kettle speech following Trump. People are not getting paid, can't make their bills, Coasties are told to have garage sales and babysit to pay their bills, austerity and hardship everywhere as Bernie and AOC pointed out in their afters, and the tone-deaf Markos buys the Democratic Speaker 10,000 roses instead of donating to a charity or creating a gofundme in her name to help people hurt by the shutdown. He's such a stupid ass. Maybe it's the air in his Tesla.

like Markos praised Pelosi at dKos. I see now that it actually happened. I'm not sure which is more depressing. That he did that or that the fools over there sent money.

There's a thing that happens, that people who are not necessarily far apart in goals turn against each other. For example, artists and gallery owners, musicians and club owners (or musicians and record companies...but that's old school). So a voice inside me says "stop, you're almost on the same side".

New Documents Reveal a Covert British Military-Intelligence Smear Machine Meddling In American Politics

Until now, this Integrity Initiative domestic spy scandal has been ignored in the American media, perhaps because it has mostly involved British names. But it is clear that the influence operation has already been activated in the US. Hacked documents reveal that the Integrity Initiative is cultivating powerful allies inside the State Department, top DC think tanks, the FBI and the DHS, where it has gained access to Katharine Gorka and her husband, the fascist-linked cable news pundit Sebastian Gorka.

The Integrity Initiative has spelled out plans to expand its network across the US, meddling in American politics and recruiting “a new generation of Russia watchers” behind the false guise of a non-partisan charity. Moreover, the group has hired one of the most notorious American “perception management” specialists, John Rendon, to train its clusters of pundits and cultivate relationships with the media.

And remember that Brock created Correct the Record trolls to spread sunshine and happiness about Hillary when people were exposing her deeds.

This is an excellent essay from Way of the Bern

It talks about how kos was selective in who he let be a progressive and who not. One person wasn't considered one because of the issues they backed while people like Warner who is a capitalist through and through were.

This is exactly what is happening right now with people like Bush, Brennan, Mueller and others who weren't just because they are criticizing Trump.

This is hilarious. The new AG is Burr and when he was appointed people on DK thought he was Trump's puppet so they didn't like him for the position. Then they found out that he is a friend of Mueller and so they did. Then they found out that he isn't talking to democrats before his confirmation and now they don't like him again.

Remember that video during the Bush administration about Flip Flop? This is what is happening over there.

It sounds like I've been a Russian propagandist since my teenage years, waaay back in the olden days, aka the 1960s. We protested against the establishment a lot back then. And warmongers. Apparently the entire protest movement against the Vietnam War was one big Russian propaganda op.

Neoliberalism and neoconservativism were still in the incubator at that time, awaiting Grover Norquist, Karl Rove, and the Clintons, or I'm sure we'd have been talking about those, too.

What next? Sending us to gulags to be re-educated about the words that are deemed acceptable by the powers that be?

@dkmich Is to erase history. Old Ideas become "Problematic" and indicative of mental issues among those that maintain them. There is always a new truth and new words to express them, but NEVER an unambiguous meaning to an idea once Newspeak has defined it.

Newspeak defines terms, NOT based off their true meaning, but on the "Hidden Meaning" that forbids all other interpretations.

Hence, all legitimate concerns become "Dog Whistles." Anti-war becomes "Racism and Sexism". Anti-slavery and exploitation becomes "Terrorist or Communist".

They used to call it "Spin Doctoring". Now they don't even talk about that any more. Instead they just scream lies and claim moral vindication if you fail to follow their speech guidelines.

global corporatists because the term neo-liberal is too confusing and misunderstood.

Fascism is the term that comes to my mind...
Benito Mussolini, once summed it up: “Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of state and corporate power.” In the early 1900s, the Italians who invented the term Fascism also described it as “estato corporativo,” meaning: the corporate state.

Franklin D. Roosevelt once described Fascism this way: “The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism — ownership of government by … a group, or any controlling private power.”

Senator Huey Long had it right when he warned: “When fascism comes to America, it will come in the form of democracy.”

I'm going to continue to use it. Neoliberalism is one of those terms, like oligarchy or plutocracy, that you never hear on the picture-box. That's why it's confusing to the average person. It's really pretty simple, here's my definition:

Neoliberalism – A political ideology based on “free market” economics. Neoliberals support deregulation, privatization, tax cuts and austerity. Neoliberal politicians and propagandists can be recognized by the use of such phrases as: “big government”, “small government”, “government red tape”, “burdensome regulation”, “free trade”, “public-private partnership” and “market-based solutions” among others.

When neoliberals get elected, when neoliberal policies are enacted, corporatism is the result. I'm using this for voters, or potential voters, who want to know how this all happened. Neoliberals never run on corporatism explicitly but they do run on the "free market" slogans.
Here's the full version:

Neoliberalism 101

Neoliberalism – A political ideology based on “free market” economics. Neoliberals support deregulation, privatization, tax cuts and austerity. Neoliberal politicians and propagandists can be recognized by the use of such phrases as: “big government”, “small government”, “government red tape”, “burdensome regulation”, “free trade”, “public-private partnership” and “market-based solutions” among others.

History -
Based on the theories of crackpot “Chicago school” economists Friedrich Hayek (The Road to Serfdom, 1944) and Milton Friedman (Capitalism and Freedom, 1962), neoliberalism was first tried out on a large scale in Chile during the Pinochet dictatorship. The election, in 1980, of Margaret Thatcher in the UK and Ronald Reagan in the US brought neoliberal policies to both of these countries. With the election of Bill Clinton in 1992 neoliberalism became the governing ideology of both major political parties in the United States. Neoliberalism has led to the same results wherever it has been tried: grotesque income and wealth inequality, the degradation of public services and infrastructure and a lower standard of living for the majority of citizens.

@irishking The fallacy in taking pleasure at seeing the Russia crap debunked, is that the people that believed it in the first place will continue to believe it and the msm will continue to present it as fact. It has been frightening to see how much garbage spewed forth by Fox News is believed by its viewers, it is now clear that the viewers of MSNBC are no more analytical than the viewers of Fox News. It is also clear that, just as was the case in the lead up to the second invasion of Iraq, the msm are enabling a conspiracy to mislead the American public. Some "journalists" may know they are part of a conspiracy. Others are just careerists that don't really care about the truth. Yes, these are very frightening times indeed.

@Roy Blakeley

But now those same people are believing everything they hear on MSDNC which is also in business to mislead people.

This is why propaganda is constantly pushed on us. It works. Tell a lie enough times and many people will believe. This goes for those of us here too that aren't buying into Russia Gate. We are still being exposed to propaganda daily and I'm wondering how much it's affecting me?

But one thing I do is I'll read both sides of the articles. I do read the pro Russian propaganda articles and then the ones that debunk it. Do people on ToP even bother to read articles like the ones that we post here that ridicules the idea that Trump colluded with Vlad and that he and many republicans are under Vlad's thumb? How silly is it to believe that the Russian president controls our government. I don't mean like the way Israel does. But that Trump and his GOP are trying to bring down the USA.

Another thing I thought of today reading on ToP is that since when did they support coups? Ukraine was violently overthrown by this country and instead of seeing the Crimea base go into the neo Nazis' hands the people there voted to stay part of Russia. But every one who believes Russia is the new boogie man thinks that Russia stole Crimea. No one even bothers to see what the truth is there.

Propaganda. It's what's for dinner ..

as there's so much material on display here. but joseph thomas's 'US NGO Teams Up with Gulf Terror Sponsor to Target Asia', neo, jan. 3: he opens:

"Fortify Rights is one of several fronts posing as nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) operating across Asia.

Such fronts are in actuality extensions of US and European “soft power.” Fully funded by the US, British and various European governments as well as US and European corporate foundations like convicted financial criminal George Soros’ Open Society, Fortify Rights positions itself as self-appointed arbiter regarding human rights, democracy and the rule of law at the heart of the sovereign internal political affairs of nations like Myanmar (still called Burma by many Western media organisations and politicians), Thailand, Bangladesh and Malaysia.

Human Rights Org Partners with State Sponsor of Terrorism…

Recently, Fortify Rights’ founder American Matthew Smith announced a new and “exciting” partnership with Doha Debates. Doha Debates is a project of the Qatar Foundation which in turn was founded by the Al Thani family, the unelected rulers of Qatar, a notorious Middle Eastern dictatorship, abuser of human rights and state sponsor of terrorism.

The “exciting” partnership between Fortify Rights (a supposed human rights advocacy group) and the Qatari front “Doha Debates” is particularly troubling considering the area of cooperation involves Myanmar’s Muslim Rohingya minority."

astonishing, it's also hilarious, really. I mean the ways around it can only be Monty Python-esque. How many ways can people find to out-wit this silliness?

It boils down to whether the internet has become so necessary for so many people and businesses and government agencies that it needs to be established as a public utility, or whether we cower in acceptance of a couple of private corporatists owning the means of communication as their private property. Either way, I feel it's just the beginning of how the customer comes to realize its only value is in its usefulness to us. Being frightened of the owners making a fool of themselves is unwarranted. It's time to make fun of them.

Published in Strategic Culture, presents a primer on Fake News. Excerpt:

But time moves on and while thirty years ago 50 corporations controlled 90% of the US news media, today it's a not very diverse six. As a result, on many subjects there is a monoview: has any Western news outlet reported, say, these ten true statements?

  • People in Crimea are pretty happy to be in Russia.
  • The US and its minions have given an enormous amount of weapons to jihadists.
  • Elections in Russia reflect popular opinion polling.
  • There really are a frightening number of well-armed nazis in Ukraine.
  • Assad is pretty popular in Syria.
  • The US and its minions smashed Raqqa to bits.
  • The official Skripal story makes very little sense.
  • Ukraine is much worse off, by any measurement, now than before Maidan.
  • Russia actually had several thousand troops in Crimea before Maidan.
  • There's a documentary that exposes Browder that he keeps people from seeing.

I typed these out as they occurred to me. I could come up with another ten pretty easily. There's some tiny coverage, far in the back pages, so that objectivity can be pretended, but most Western media consumers would answer they aren't; didn't; don't; aren't; isn't; where?; does; not; what?; never heard of it.

@MrWebster

after Luke Harding and others posted that ridiculous article about Paul Manafort meeting him at the Ecuadorian embassy. So yeah people can sue the media. I'm thinking that Flynn would have some cases where he can sue a couple of websites for what they have said about him and his actions.

A few people are suing Chris Steele for what he put in his dossier.

right now, the only way to resist the global corporatists and Atlanticists effectively on an electoral level is, to support the right-wing populist AfD.

Everyone else in the German political and cultural establishment is on board with the neocon-neoliberal, politically correct, U.S.-elite-approved package of narratives. Anyone who doesn’t play ball is immediately ostracized.

I’ve supported the co-op owned “taz.de / die Tageszeitung” newspaper since it began forty years ago as part of the counterculture Left and incipient Green environmentalist-pacifist movement. But nowadays its editorial staff takes it as a given that BDS is anti-Semitic.
