Help me out on this.

I have never been a Clinton supporter. I was a Tongas Elector and helped put Ross Perot on the ballot in California twice. I have actually forgotten exactly what I knew about them that made me uneasy then. Not much, but I was vehemently opposed to NAFTA at the time because of what it was going to do to both Mexican and American farmers, and Ross Perot seemed to get that best. (1)

Now there is a buzz among a certain type of Clinton supporter. Jubilation. The spring in the step, the wink and the nod. Lots of people I know expect their grandchildren to be hired as pages and interns in the White House. Good times. They care about her reliability to the people or her long term patterns not at all. They care about her loyalty to THEM. They profess concern for the less fortunate, but they care her past policies and actions only to the extent that they can virtue wash her enough get her get elected.
Which is all innocent and understandable, irritating, and premature.

But

Around 1996 There was a campaign to privatize Federal government services.
However after encountering a number of Clinton supporters of a certain type I get the strongest feeling that a lot of those people, or their family members benefited personally from Clinton era as functionaries or from outsourcing/privatizing initiatives and they expect to again.
Some worked as exec appointees and some were lesser beneficiaries of outsourcing initiatives that may have been forced by Newt Gingrich. They essentially hollowed out many agencies of the Federal Government, substituting the wage curve of private companies where the CEO of the Company makes 300 times the salary of the entry level employee, for flatish wage curve of the Fed, where the top senior execs make less than 170K a year. Destroying many well paid government jobs and substituting low wage jobs or no benefit "Consultant" temp jobs, where the "Prime contractor" hires a job shop which hires another job shop which hires a subject matter expert, so that the Prime contractor and the shop rake off 90% of the contract funds. The government pays much more for job, loses information, looses the opportunity to develop and maintain in-house expertise to improve and make systems robust and resilient in the case the unexpected happens, and the consultant, hired through layers of intermediaries is an at=will employee without recourse against retaliation or to even the slight whistle-blower protections afforded Federal Employees. If they report abuse of Government services (like that Snowden found, or malpractice or fraud as I personally have witnessed, the consultant can be fired immediately and be prosecuted under a number of laws if they have retained any corroborating documentation, so the consultant or auditor that finds something wrong is either summarily out of a job, or out of a job and in jail. So waste, fraud and abuse can continue to occur with impunity.
And again it privitizing makes a few people rich but does not Save money. https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/study-privatizing-g...

I only see through the glass darkly,
Were the Clinton's unaware of what was occurring?
Did they exercise patronage power for their friends doing what Gingrich was apparently forcing them to do?
or were they going along with the Republican agenda for an effortless and zero cost cut?
The other day I was reading the Grand Remonstrance of 1641, and I was struck by certain similarities re the expropriation of the Commons.

1.(this is a side note, but most or not all of our trade deals and IMF deals involve removing the protections for local farmers a country has raised to protect its food supply. The reason that countries enact such protections is to provide food security for their population locally and foster most of the time assure a reliable harvest by guarenteeing farmers a return if they make the investment and incentivizing sustainable agricultural practices. the IMF routinely demands that countries buy their staple crops such as soghram from large commodity producing countries instead and raise perishable, labor intensive crops for export to the US and Europe instead. (comparative advantage you know). I believe that every country has a right to make whatever export/import laws they wish to assure their food security.

but the truth of the matter is I have no idea what a Clinton Presidency would entail. Will she go left or right? Up or down? Who knows (I'd put a fin on right)? One thing for sure, I think the Republicans will tell her to fuck off a la Obama Part 3, it might even be worse. So ironically and luckily she may be limited in what she can do, even if they are Republican wet-dreams of the compromising type.

However you are right to be concerned about patronage, her history is chalk-full of it, so I don't see it stopping if she were to win. Revolving doors at least create wind, no need for fans. Flocks and birds and shit.

Did you read Joe's article about the 1%'s war on social security? Both Bill and Obama worked with the GOP to get the trade agreements passed. And there's Obama 'pre caving' to the GOP on bill after bill and giving them more than what they were asking for.
I think that Hillary will do the same things, especially on social security and other issues that will help the elites and the corporations and will gut social programs for the poor people.
People have been bitching about how the dems don't represent us any more since Clinton created the DLC and we have a chance to elect the one person that is offering us what the dems used to, and people are throwing the chance away for more of the same shit.
I don't understand why they will do it.

There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

Harris is unburdened of speaking going forward.

I spent years working at a federal contractor, and the only path to advancement was to get hired for a "real" federal job. The problem is few federal positions at my skill level were open to outsiders (i.e. people not already employed directly by the government). It took a long time.

always been that way.

Since there are some positions that are hired from within, it's true that one might have to be willing to take a position at a somewhat lower level, to get one's foot in the door. Promotions often come quickly, though.

If you're still in the workforce, it may still be worth your time to go through the arduous hiring process

Now, the current pension plan is not the same as the original CSRS that many of us are 'grandfathered' into. But, by private industry standards, today's plan (still FERS, I believe) isn't shabby.

Good luck!

Although I know your name from DKos, I'd like to say 'welcome to C99P.'

It's great to have you here!

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.

Government jobs that aren't privatized generally work on a merit system. Priority for hiring goes to internal candidates before new applicants, and I think they should. It is one one of the perks for what use to be a secure, benefit rich, and low wage job. Now, these jobs are subject to privatization in a flash. As bad as working in soft money.

I have read about the no bid contractors that sub contract out the jobs they get. I first became aware of this during the reconstruction of New Orleans after Katrina. As you wrote, the contractors take most of the profits because they sub contract jobs out 2-3 times and then pay the workers a small amount of money.

This happened a lot in Iraq. The contractors would hire people who often didn't know what they were doing. And that's why the soldiers were electrocuted in the showers.
Were the Clintons aware of these things? You betcha they were. They were/are neck deep in this in the reconstruction of Haiti. Any person or company that wants in on the action has to go through the Clinton foundation first to get approval. And the Clintons made sure that the sweat shops were up and running as soon as possible as well as the casinos and hotels for their rich friends to play at.
During her time as SOS, the state department was neck deep in the corruption. I don't have a link to this, but you can't search for 'Clinton corruption in Haiti' and there will be many links.

And yes her supporters are for some reason able to look past both of their actions that hurt so many people in this country. From welfare reform, the crime bill, NAFTA, deregulation of the banks, many people became more poor, went to jail, lost their jobs and their homes and all of these things can be tied to the Clinton's feet.
They have been in bed with the banks for over 24 years. You can search for that sentence to find the link. I don't have it available, but here's another excellent article about first their long term activities in Honduras that includes the reason that Hillary's state department helped with the coup which is why we are seeing so many children fleeing to America. The children that Hillary wants to send back.
The middle part of the article talks about why Clinton deregulated the banks. It wasn't just because Newt pushed Bill to do it. Citi bank had broken the rules that were put in place after the Great Depression. And instead of the Feds prosecuting them for it, they told them that they had 2 years to come up with legislation to make it legal. It says that the plan to repeal glass Steagel was already being written.

I m aware about that whistle blowers aren't protected when they report abuses. Look at the number of people that Obama has prosecuted under the espionage act for trying to report fraud, torture or spying. Manning, Drake, Kirikou (sp), Risen and others.
I have read an article about many people going to the federal reserve and the SEC with concerns about what the banks were doing and they covered it up.

And finally about your concern about the IMF and trade deals and the farmers being able to export their food and the IMF removing the protections, I'm not sure if this article answers you.

I am tired so I don't know if I helped you or not, but I don't want the Clintons back in power. IMO, they are corrupt to the core and will find more ways to screw most of the people in this country, but will pass more policies that will enrich their friends, the elites, the corporations and especially the MICC.

I found the link about them being in bed with the banks for 24, years. And remember that Hillary said that they were dead broke when they left the White House because they had to spend all their money defending themselves from all of the 'right wing smears'

the President most directly responsible for gentrifying our cities (along with his HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros).

Remember VP Al Gore on the set of The Tonight Show with the comedian David Letterman, breaking ashtrays with a hammer to symbolize downsizing the government?

I saw outsourcing/contracting out federal jobs explode during my federal career, especially during the 90's. (And, GWB and 'O' have continued down this path.)

I'll be writing on the recent (late 2014) partial privatization of the VA System sometime this summer, which affects me/my spouse, personally. Apparently, this move went under the radar for many in the Dem Party Base.

BTW, I'm not familiar with your username, so 'welcome' to C99P!

I was banned from TOP in 2005, either for pointing out that the data showed that they had just swapped header cards in Ohio that told the computer what the ballot order was for that set of precincts, people voting for empty spots on the ballot was kind of a give away. that way they recounted Ohio seemed to be carefully designed not to detect this kind of tampering, or because I am a metallurgist and pointed out that building 7 could not have collapsed due to the diesel fuel in the basement burning because the fuel was unburned when they uncovered it, and because diesel burns at less than 600 F at Standard Temperature and Pressure, NOT hot enough to soften steel, and especially not if it did not actually burn, and there was no paper fire forge malstorm in this building where 100 mph winds fed the flames and used the elevator shafts as a chimney.
I don't remember all the details I had, but anyway one or the other got me banned.
